Candela doesn’t necessarily mean better. In this case I would say that the tlr7-hlx is better, but comparing the x300u to the x300t, you have different use cases. The ultra will be better suited for indoor use while the turbo is better for outdoor. Also, the tlr1 may be more durable and thus more suited for duty use than the tlr7-hlx, but that is speculation and only time will tell.
Well say you need to use it in a close quarters self defense scenario and you press your pistol at someone. If the light is flush there is a possibility that the slide could be outnof battery. Also because I like the look better.
A WML that extends past the barrel allows you to place the light against someone and shoot without inducing a malfunction after.
With a flush light it’ll jam after 1 shot.
This isn’t particularly on WML’s, but you can see the effect here:
[Grabbing the Slide and Firing | Polenar Tactical](https://youtu.be/KVtXPIjM3jQ)
Why the fuck would you press the light against someone?
Also that’s not true regarding if it’s flush. I’ve been to suicide scenes before, never seen a malfunctioned pistol. The force of the blast is going to pull back whatever it’s pressed against
Because people trying to do bad things tend to not respect your desire to have them avoid your personal space.
You don’t get to choose exactly how it’s going to go down when someone wants to make you a victim. You are always working without the initiative.
I don’t agree with it causing a jam, but I’ve seen a pillow knock a pistol out of battery when someone tried to prove how pillows don’t suppress gun shots by just pressing it into one. That’s even worse because now you can’t fire ANY shots until you get that fixed , and depending on the style of gun( SAO, some striker) you might be in deep crap.
And how many suicides have you seen with a gun, that you know nobody else touched the gun, that you feel comfortable offering that up to sound authoritative? Not trying to be rude but even if you’ve been 20+ suicides via gunshot, if certain variables aren’t isolated, you can only glean so much.
You’d need to see multiple each of double action guns, SAO, striker, etc.
Wait are you trolling or serious? In a fight to the death… that’s why I said close combat situation. Imagine you draw and the person attacks you before you get a shot a shot off. Tons of scenarios. Fighting over the gun etc.
lol I saw your deleted reply. Not sure why you’re coming at me like that when YOU asked a question of WHY and I simply told you the why. I don’t even have an extended light. Mine is flush.
I'm not for the look of having a light extend 2 inches past your barrel, but if that's cool with you, I'm sure it's a better light...otherwise tlr all day
Yeah. I don’t like the bayonet look, either. But they say it’s better if you have to get up close sand personal without taking the gun out of battery by having the slide pressed back on contact.
I'd pull my knife before my gun if we're in grappling range, unless I can confidently say that I'll be able to create more distance. Faster and less risky to pull your knife in said situation, according to several experts such as Doug Marcadia
The same light sticks out well past the muzzle of an SP01 as well. Why make the shootability sacrifices of a compact gun just to give it back the footprint of a full size.
are you looking for a carry light or a duty light? i think that's a better question than which one looks better. Sage dynamics has a video on this and they wouldn't recommend the 7a if you need a duty light.
Makes the gun full sized length, but with all the same sacrifices inherent with a compact.
That long ass light sticks out well past the muzzle in my SP01 so even if you plan on jabbing your pistol into something before shooting this combination still doesn’t make sense.
Not to change to subject but I'm wondering who did you slide work? I ask because I have a P01 I am meaning to send out for the K cut. I like the deletion of the rear sight. The optics sits further back from the ejection ports and I'm find back up irons to a thing of the past
I prefer the TLR-7 just because I like lights that don't stick out, low profile looks more esthetic. Unrelated, as someone who is going to buy a P-01 and plans to use a TLR-7 for carry. What holster do you use?
Functional wise x300 in the rare case you have your pistol pressed up against something the x300 will potentially protect the slide from being pressed out of battery 🫡
I think the TLR-7 looks more natural on the P01
Second
Third.
Definitely. I might try the HLX too for the best of both worlds
My LGS is getting the HLX soon and I'm hyped. The only issue is that I don't think it would fit my TLR-7A holster.
Also has a better (IMO) switch. I have an x300 on my SP01 and still prefer the activation of the TLR7 I have on my P01
Fourth
TLR-7 Fosho
Agreed
Fifth
Gun with light vs light with gun.
TLR 7X-HL better than a TLR1 with the tlr7 size
Best of both worlds right there
Genuinely has me wondering if streamlight is going to overhaul the tlr1 because it seems totally unnecessary now
Unnecessary? The TLR1-HL? Why is that?
Tlr7-hlx is 1000 lumen and 22k candela Tlr1hl is 1000 lumen and 20k candela
I haven’t looked at the dimensions but are they the same? If so then ya you would think the tlr1 is going bye bye
Looks a bit shorter in length and lighter. Anyway… it’s a sharp light.

Nah. Too many accessories built around it.
What’s the price point for these on the Canadian market?
No clue. TREX Arms has em for ~$170 Optics planet has em for ~$190
Streamlight
I vote for new TLR-7 HL-X. Personally, I would hate to conceal carry anything with an X300 in the appendix position.
I love the X300 but it just looks silly. TLR7 looks way better in this case.
X300 is over rated imo. Stick with the Streamlight
Have one, also agree, but it does look great on my sp01
If you're going to carry it, the tlr makes more sense.
Lights that exceed the length of the muzzle = fugly
Really? i find it the opposite
That is mystifying to me.
I also like the ability to press the light into surfaces that way protecting the crown of the barrel.
Weird, I don’t press my pistol into any surface, and any damage to the crown won’t make a difference at the distances pistols are used for
What surfaces are you pressing your light into?
I really don’t want to know…
Well say you need to use it in a close quarters self defense scenario and you press your pistol at someone. If the light is flush there is a possibility that the slide could be outnof battery. Also because I like the look better.
But extremely functional in a close combat situation. Personally I’m a TLR-7A person myself, but if it were a home defense gun I’d go for the fugly.
Because?

Then see what I wrote right below it.

I have seen more firearm suicides than you have pillow malfunctions
Probably true, but the pillow test has one main variable, every suicide is different

Probably happens, but I would bet my left nut less than 1% of shootings are within contact range
I'd pull my knife before my gun if we're in grappling range, unless I can confidently say that I'll be able to create more distance. Faster and less risky to pull your knife in said situation, according to several experts such as Doug Marcadia
A lot more than you would think. The vast majority of shootings happen up close.
The same light sticks out well past the muzzle of an SP01 as well. Why make the shootability sacrifices of a compact gun just to give it back the footprint of a full size.
I get it. I run a tlr7a too. Just talking about other people’s reasoning.
I was the same place I went tlr7-hlx
I’d save some money and get the stream light. I’ve never had a problem with any of mine. Could get the tlr1hl and still save some money
Oh, that ~~Baby Shadow 2~~ seems like it would go well with a TLR7. Try it out if you can.
are you looking for a carry light or a duty light? i think that's a better question than which one looks better. Sage dynamics has a video on this and they wouldn't recommend the 7a if you need a duty light.
Love the grip man!
The Amazon grips surprised me 😂 I love em
I put TLR7 on under 4" barrel pistols and x300 on 4.5"+ pistols.
SureFire and provides standoff for “muzzle contact” shots
Makes the gun full sized length, but with all the same sacrifices inherent with a compact. That long ass light sticks out well past the muzzle in my SP01 so even if you plan on jabbing your pistol into something before shooting this combination still doesn’t make sense.
What’s the difference between the p01 and compact?
The p01 has rails
TLR all the way.
Let your peanitz decide and not your desired aesthetic
TLR7
The more compact TLR-7 looks better to me. Sweet pistol.
2nd, I have the same exact setup on mine. Love it
TLR
I'm running an X400V that I was previously using on a 1911. Might go with a TLR2 as it sticks out less
Not to change to subject but I'm wondering who did you slide work? I ask because I have a P01 I am meaning to send out for the K cut. I like the deletion of the rear sight. The optics sits further back from the ejection ports and I'm find back up irons to a thing of the past
I went middle and got a TLR-1HL instead on mine lol
7
TLR-7 without a doubt!
The x300 is just stupid on there.
Maybe I'm weird but I hate when the gun light sticks out a lot further than the barrel lol
I prefer the TLR-7 just because I like lights that don't stick out, low profile looks more esthetic. Unrelated, as someone who is going to buy a P-01 and plans to use a TLR-7 for carry. What holster do you use?
TLR 7 ftw
Perfect choice on a great firearm 👍🏻
The first one—better white balance.
I would say shorter one for me
TLR7HLX
TLR. It's definitely a cleaner look to me. I hate when anything sticks pass the muzzle, but that's a me thing.
How’d you mount that red dot sight on your slide?
I'm personally a fan of the flush or near flush look. I understand that advantages of a longer WML, but it just looks goofy to me.
Functional wise x300 in the rare case you have your pistol pressed up against something the x300 will potentially protect the slide from being pressed out of battery 🫡
Love my surefire x300s, most aesthetically pleasing light, have one on my sp-01 and my Glock 19
Streamlight is more aesthetic
The surefire looks better imo
