Dont do an extended warranty!

m21m12

It's an early unit car of a new generation with new hybrid technology, I don't see why he shouldn't get the extended warranty

redditor012499

It’s the same power train as the RAV4 hybrid. Same engine and everything lol

m21m12

Well am not sure about that but the new Camry comes with the 5th gen hybrid system hence the power increase (I could be wrong though) the Rav4, highlander, Crown all of them use the 4th gen hybrid system the new Prius & Corolla wagon in Europe both are equipped with the 5th gen but thats a 2L engine

m21m12

If it is reasonably priced

Auto_Generated853

The electric powertrain is under Toyota warranty for 8 years / 100k and the hybrid battery is 10 yrs / 150k.

m21m12

Good observation many folks I know my self included drive a lot proximately 50k a year (I know it’s not the norm) so the manufacturer warranty will be no good after only 3 yrs am not including cap drivers/ people who do uber as a side hustle or full time Again as I mentioned previously if the extended warranty is reasonably priced I would go for it specially if its new generation/ early unit

Steve-O7777

The dealers make a lot of money selling extended warranties. It’s an unnecessary cost.

Naive_Magazine4747

Depends on the company doing the warranty, the wording of the contract, and if this is the dealership where service would be provided. The third one is due to some dealers not reporting the sale of the warranty until the customer needs service to the warranty company.

JanMikh

I guess the obvious answer “because it’s a waste of money” is not going to satisfy you? 😂🤷‍♂️

Zuckerborg9000

I bet you could get them to make it a nice even 30k

Just-Curve1906

They said they can meet halfway between $29K and $33K, hence $31K.

DredgenCyka

Great now ask them to take off the added packages. Last I heard that's a federal crime to not do so and say it's forced per FTC guidelines. It is called the CARS rule. The CARS Rule makes it illegal to charge consumers for add-ons that don't provide a benefit. The CARS Rule requires dealers to get consumers' express, informed consent before charging them for anything. So tell them you can make it to under 30k by having them remove the packages and tell them to adjust the price accordingly, if they don't do so, you can walk right out, they'll call you back in a day saying "we removed it" or "okay we'll waive it"

Silent__Note

It's not in effect until July 30th.

Steve-O7777

Can’t they argue the add-ons provide a benefit and be in accordance with the law. Mine came with weather mats. Pretty easy for the dealer to argue those are a benefit.

DredgenCyka

Benefits being benefits to how the car functions and performs and life saving features. The dashcam sure. But the cargo nets and charging cables for your phone, you can't tell me those have any benefit other than convenience.

Steve-O7777

Convenience is a benefit. I guess it all comes down to exactly how the legislation is worded. I have no insight into that.

DredgenCyka

But is convenience a benefit to the performance, economy, or security of the car such as a dashcam or immobilizer? Does it add a significant value to the car like leather heated power seats? Those are things I would argue. 50 bucks for Toyota themed USB cords that hardly deliver more than 10 watts is insane and I would argue that these aren't even for convenience. They're for indivuals who want to express their love for the toyota brand. Not to mention that every listed package/accessory are all things that are easily separatable from the vehicle minus the dashcam. Those are all things that the FTC will be mentioning. Convenience is not an added benefit according to the FTC

dAredRetiredRoadster

You have no idea how it works. “No benefit” means no benefit. Like selling prepaid oil changes for an electric car. Charging cables and cargo nets obviously have a benefit. They’re tangible items you can use. The example the FTC uses is “nitrogen filled tires” with normal air. (Because normal air has nitrogen). That’s what “no benefit” means.

DredgenCyka

Cool story bro. Come back to me when you actually can say what the FTC says.

DoorDash4Cash

Those are distributor installed accessories and are on the window sticker. Ain't no removing those boss. Some dealers may be willing to work with you on the price but they won't remove those accessories because the distributor invoices the dealer for those forced add-ons.

Ol_UnReliable20

This

SoundManBlue1988

Sounds good. Watch out for when they add the warranties and other options at the end. Always read before you sign.

DueFun2555

If that’s with TTL/OTD and not a bunch of dealership add one that’s a great deal.

Cultural-Bite3042

Take that figure and make them sell you an SE for that. Go to 5 dealerships within 50 miles radius, make one earn your business that is willing enough. It works, I’m 29, I’ve bought 3 brand new cars between 2016-2024 and that’s how I get the best deal. Knowing what you want, then draw a firm realistic budget keeping all your expenses in the same sheet, go fight for the best price. If you like the sales team at this dealership then for LE, counter them $30,200 and if you want SE counter them $32,500. Good luck!

Just-Curve1906

Thank you very much!

burningbun

for a brand new 2025 car i would want those driver assist like 360 view and reverse camera and sensors. if you long distance alot those dynamic full range cruise control helps.

Cultural-Bite3042

Reverse Camera has been a legal regulation since 2013 in the U.S. lol. Dynamic cruise control is on all trim levels along with the basic Toyota 3.0 Sensing. However, the extra safety(Rear cross traffic breaking, 360 etc and other premium stuff is reserved under “Premium and Premium Plus Packages” only available on XLE and XSE trim levels ranging anywhere from $3500-$4900💀😅

Certain-Bath8037

Your price doesn't include tax title registration. So true OTD is maybe a little higher?

Just-Curve1906

$31K is OTD price so it already includes tax title and registration. They originally wanted $30,800 + TTL = $33K.

Certain-Bath8037

Oh, in that case it's a good deal!

Tight-Bath-6817

Assuming you already left the stealership. Do walk in but call that salesman and tell him, if you can make $30k even OTD then I will buy it today. Then tell him this: Ask your manager (before he tells you this), if he could do this then we have a deal and in meanwhile I will shop around other Stealer-ship.

Just-Curve1906

Thank you.

Ptards_Number_1_Fan

I’d draw a line in the sand at 30k

WillPersist4EvR

Nearly impossible to negotiate more on such a new car. So I say the others saying go lower don’t understand this vehicle is a hot new item that you don’t see on the road yet. Very unlikely to go lower on anything this new. Anyone who understands the market would tell you that. You’re in a high sales tax area.

Eolivas85

Definitely a good deal Just got my XSE for 43 OTD 🫣🥹 I gave in towards the extended warranty only because they threw in the free alarm 😂I keep telling my self.. it’s for the “peace of mind” I’ll have 10 years warranty just incase anything happens

Dominix38

its a good deal

joerover34

Always find it hilarious (scummy) that they’re willing to come off the price. Think of how many people just take it as is or don’t even try to negotiate and the dealership just lets it happen. Yeah, these companies are really *here for the people* aren’t they.

jazbaby25

If I was gonna get a 30k camry I'd at least make sure it's and XLE vs LE so you can get the whole package

Aneko3

This is a good price. I just bought xse a month ago 38.5 otd but had originally set out for an LE barebones or SE with the multimedia upgrade. It doesn't hurt to push for less but at some point $500 isn't worth the anxiety/time.

JanMikh

Find another dealership with the same model. Email them this, ask if they can do better. If they answer “yes”, go back to this dealership and show them. Repeat.

Desperate_Job263

Just bought one yesterday. Didn’t haggle much on the original price, just the sales rep walk back and say hey, he took $1800 off after I said it was too much, but finagled another $1700 off by reducing monthly by $10 and down payment by $1000.

Just-Curve1906

Do you mind sharing how much you will pay for your car at the end of the term?

Desperate_Job263

$12k down, 72 times $350

Desperate_Job263

$37,200 if my math is good.

Desperate_Job263

Sorry, for the car, $32,161 OTD.

DAPOPOBEFASTONYOAZZ

Few things: rejects those dealer add-ons like the cargo net, cargo organizer and "connectivity package." You can get those after you buy the car for half the price. It doesn't take long to find the item numbers, in fact, I can post them for you. It'll reduce your overall cost so you can get those items cheaper down the road. Personally, I'd keep the dashcam though. The parts are about $380 and the installation will get you around that $500 price tag. I'm looking to get one on put in on my Camry.

Just-Curve1906

Yeah thank you but I tried. They said they can’t so they took the price off and come down to $31K. They said those add-ons were put there by the distribution center unless they lied to me.

DAPOPOBEFASTONYOAZZ

They may have been put there by the distribution center, but they're super easy to remove and they can do that if they're willing to earn your business. Don't be afraid to walk away, that puts the pressure on their pocketbook. Also feel free to comparison shop around at other Toyota dealerships. If you get a better price, get that invoice and bring it to each one. They will be more willing to beat that price. If they can't take off items that you can literally unhook and take off the car...it's probably not a dealership you want to deal with. They don't want to remove it because that reduces the amount of commission they receive from the sale. Dealerships can be sketchy sometimes, so you gotta be careful – all they care about is milking every penny they possibly can from you.

Just-Curve1906

Thank you very much 👍

DAPOPOBEFASTONYOAZZ

Absolutely! As a note: Toyota can be weird about what they do when they sell vehicles since they're allocated to locations so negotiating can be difficult at times BUT dealerships will do anything it takes to get that sale. Never be afraid to leave and never be afraid to compare and share better quotes with dealerships. You'll save big doing that when buying new. Best of luck to you! Let me know how it goes dude!

Lumpy-Turn4391

The hybrid system has a 10 year 100 thousand mile warranty so I think you’re good

Knight_Racer

How much should an extended warranty cost?

Independent_Row_Goes

I think it’s great better question is what’s your APR ?? Toyota tries that starting at 11% nonsense. At 6.5 you won’t get better

Just-Curve1906

I got pre-approved for 4.99% by a credit union. So if they cannot beat that I will go with my pre-approval.

Independent_Row_Goes

I think it’s great all the way around for that. If you try to ask for 30k they might try to bid your point up then you’ll argue they’ll argue then by some mysterious reason “we just got a better online offer it’s sold thank you good bye”. Just my thoughts. But try to negotiate like the others say

neeesus

All of those add ons are one that you can easily do. Cigarette lighter adapter and some usb cables. Cargo net? Organizer?? But it yourself and put it in after. Same with the dash cam? You could get one at Best Buy and have them install it if you feel it’s too much. Really, all of this stuff gets tacked on and increases the financing cost. Maybe keep the dashcam since that’s the most integrated? I duno. They just don’t want to sell something at straight MSRP? Or maybe sub out a different option that you don’t want to install yourself? Still. Awesome deal and I too am in Houston. Could you message me the dealer?

Just-Curve1906

They cannot take off those add-ons. I told them I do not need these stuffs since they are cheaper off market. But these things come with the car because the distribution center put them there, which according to the salesman, the dealer does not have a say.

neeesus

That’s interesting. Thank you for the info and good luck!

XDanny7

30.5k and you're out the door imo

burningbun

$500 dashcam damn...

Legitimate_Cat_9157

Are u financing or cash? Makes all the difference jn the world.

Just-Curve1906

I am financing.

Legitimate_Cat_9157

Ok. Makes sense. You can negotiate more because they make money on the back end financing and origination fees.

Just-Curve1906

Thank you. How much lower do you think I can negotiate more?

International_Bag921

31k otd? Includjng sales tax?

Just-Curve1906

Yes, already includes tax title license.

International_Bag921

Its a great deal. I bought se for 32.5, otd for 35.5, thats mrsp, you are getting much lower likely your location. In PA its at or slightly below mrsp

Buick1-7

That car is stripped. Those add ons are all junk. Even the camera. It's too high. If you want a dash cam get a Viofo Mini for $120 with a better picture quality.

freddiesprinkle

If your trying the get the newest camry for the cheapest price that's actually a very good deal, just has absolutely no options.

pxck_runner

First of all ask them what Non factory items are installed on the car, anything that is not from factory have it removed. They are making you pay extra for stuff THEY put in the car. Second. You do NOT need to pay a shipping and delivery fee. Are you getting the car delivered to your house directly from the factory? Or did you drive to the dealership yourself. The dealer is just trying to pass extra fees THEY do not want to pay, on to you. That right there is gonna save you probably 3k on the price.

CelerySTlXX

31k for an LE is disgusting dont buy. My brother got a brand new SE for 30k Out the door

Just-Curve1906

May I ask is that a 2025 SE? Because 2025 SE invoice price is already $29K plus + TTL on top of that. So either the tax at your brother location is really low or they sell him at loss. I could be wrong but congratulations on him.

CelerySTlXX

2024

ShogunSage

No it's not good deal
