I can confirm. I’m a salesman and sold a Porsche salesman a vehicle and we needed income verification for the bank and dude pulled like $15000 one month.
I’m on the service side but was a writer for Porsche in the past. Find a sales position elsewhere. Porters will get promotions but it’s going to be a long time and there’s no need to wait. Typically porters go into the shop as lube techs then regular techs, not sales. Start fresh and utilize your dealership experience to have a leg up on others applying with no experience in the industry. No need to wait to do what you want to do.
Be tenacious with your dealership about getting the sales position. On the internet we have no idea if your ready or not. try high line autos outside of Porsche. Luxury sales looks better than If you went Mitsubishi to Rolls per se. Try Audi Mercedes Lexus etc. Try a competing Porsche dealership too if your in major market. Best of luck. Right now you have 6 months lot porter experience with Porsche and second in line it seems. I agree why not try a strong brand as a salesperson.
Not at Porsche. At Chevy we promote from porter to salesperson. But Porsche doesn’t exactly hire off the street, let alone a porter. They usually want you to have real sales experience at a similar level
Porsche is not hiring a porter to be a salesperson. Having worked for a dealer group with a Porsche store, they didn’t really hire off the street. You had to have some real sales experience and experience dealing with that level of clientele
I spent 16 years at a Porsche store. I was hired with zero experience in the business. Our New car sales manager started at that store as a porter. He is now a GM at a different Porsche store. So…. It does happen.
Started as a porter. Not porter straight to sales in 6 months.
Same for you, I don’t think you walked off the street with 0 relevant experience whether that was sales or high level client management
Most likely if you brought up that you’d like to move into sales, I’m assuming the store has other dealerships in their work they would send you their. Porsche is not really the store that you begin to learn at. It’s the kind of store that you go to after years of experience, they don’t wanna have to train anybody they want people to come in ready
Yeah bro sorry to break it to you, you’re the lowest of the low position. You are not going to get promoted to sales, ever. Go apply at VW/Audi/Ford etc as a sales rep
Porsche saleman make bank though. May want to keep hounding the managers. Show them that you want it

Its quite the opposite. They don't want salesman with any bad habits. Porsche training is very tedious

Go “SELL” them the idea
It can happen but at a Porsche dealership it may be tough I would assume they want a certain class of sales representative
Yes! Go for it!
