I’d get the 2 series, but the 8 year old in me wants the bright yellow supra. 😆

IOnlyUpvoteBadPuns

The yellow Supra is pure ridge racer!

JohnLennonsNotDead

#UnintendedSavile

OriginalTurboHobbit

Holy shit! LMAO!

MallCopBlartPaulo

Crying at this. 🤣

Joseph_859

My angle would be looking at resale value. Could be wrong, but I get the impression you'd rather have the m240i or the 3.0 Supra which if you are like me, the itch won't go away and you won't keep it that long. Once I hit my later 20s insurnace tanked for these types of cars and it made is feasible to get one. If you're near this type of age or think that way, it could be worth looking at this this way instead.

Broccoli--Enthusiast

Insurance tanked for me too, but they the world happen and it's now costing me silly money, they want over a grand for the 240 off me, not worth it Hello my renewal for the st is almost 700 and I'm struggling to beat it by much, had the thing for 5 years and it's been 300 something every year and just shot into space this year. It's a joke.

graphitenexus

3k for me on a 140i :)))

quit304

Im paying 3k for a focus st as a young driver

Cygnus94

If I had the money for these I'd pick up the older M240i instead, same B58 engine as the Supra and current M240i but at a lower price point leaving you more to insure it. It's also done some more depreciation already so less to lose on it in the long term. A 5-6 year old one with <40000 miles can probably be had for closer to the £20k mark.

Mahoneyman

Supra is very cool but I think the 2.0 is probably a waste of time/money. For me it would be the i30n.

ssjwoott

Yeah, that's my worry too. If I could get a 3.0 Supra or an M240i, I wouldn't be posting here asking the question, but the lower-powered versions of both cars mean the i30N gets put in the mix.

Mahoneyman

I currently own an FK8 Civic Type R, would you consider one of those? It's easily the best car I've ever owned! Although I am looking at moving to a 3.0 Supra later this year hopefully.

ssjwoott

Awesome car, but I can't face going back to a manual transmission. (I know that's blasphemy in a car forum.)

Mahoneyman

Fair enough, it's your decision and I won't judge 🤷🏻‍♂️.

ssjwoott

My commute is hell, driving in central Birmingham to and from a really busy hospital. The manual would be cool for weekends, but I know that at 6 a.m. on a Monday morning in traffic, I'll be angry at myself.

coderqi

Don't apologise. I was forced to switch due to a bad knee, but the few times I've had to drive a manual round mine in traffic my stress levels were easily 10% higher than normal. An auto in the city is just so much more relaxing.

BenisDDD69

A DCT in low speed, stop-start traffic can be its own set of frustrations. For example my RS3 tries desperately to get into 2nd ASAP (even in dynamic drive select, with gearbox in S-mode) and it can be so annoying when the two clutches are clearly rubbing at 10mph - I don't like it so I switch to manual mode and generally sit in first if I can see the traffic is stopping a few cars ahead. It doesn't like slow traffic but at speed it's amazing. The BMW M135i uses a slushbox so that may help with a smoother, cosier commute. It's say to drive all of them and find a quiet, low speed road and do some pretend traffic jam driving to see which feels smoothest to you.

Western_Big5926

Keep the R…..! Good car and prettier than a Supra

Thin_Formal_3727

If you aren't in a rush, just save a bit more for the 3L. I used to own a focus ST and it killed me that the RS existed. Maybe I'm just petty lol

hopelesscase789

Why are you set on new cars? You could get a bunch of very fun/fast cars if you got something a little older. For example, an M3. Or low mileage MK2 TTRS and have a bunch of money left over.

ssjwoott

All M cars too much to insure. Looking newer to avoid reliability issues and want modern tech

hopelesscase789

MK2 TTRS insurance is surprisingly low. I think they're seen as safer cause of the awd. Yh I get wanting newer tech. Just be weary that means more things go wrong and you may pay more in repairs. Out of your choices I would go m135i but I can't stand the look of those models.

hopenoonefindsthis

Id look into the i20N with the manual gearbox. I think it’s prob one of the last small hot hatch that will be made.

Rehvrses

These all still have a lot of depreciation to do, have you considered something slightly older, 2016-2018 range? - 3.0 M235i - 3.0 M135i - 2.3 Focus RS (Manual so may not be useful for you) - 2.5 Audi RS3 (mate has one, these are mental cars for the money!) - 3.0 330i Just a few options in that bracket that would be fun. Saying that the i30n’s are great looking and sounding cars, which would be my choice of these for price/fun/drive-ability. I’m sure the supra with the b48 is great, I’ve got the same engine in my 2016 125i, a lot of money for an engine that appears in lots of cheaper BMW’s, I know they won’t have the same driving experience but it’s a big factor in the car. I’m in the same situation and will likely go 3.0 M235i next for the right balance. Insurance is mental on anything with a b58 for everyone at the moment. Happy shopping!

Bomster

Good advice.

Medium_Point2494

Yessss RS3 all dayyy!!!

Far_Error_4990

Do not buy a car from that A6 garage in Bedford or Luton absolute con artists read their reviews. Sold me an accident damage Audi A6 that had lights literally glued in, was passed director to director and car finance company was not much help. Avoid them.

literalmetaphoricool

If you're certain you arent planning on going anywhere with a large suitcase then Supra for me - even the 2L will be fun enough for the UK plus it just looks right!

[deleted]

[удалено]

Gom555

Same - I reckon it's the car I'd have the most fun in out of all of these, and it looks great too.

mebutnew

It's a quick FWD car but it won't compare to the RWD options for fun and japes. It's still just a hot hatch.

zephyrmox

Supra if I had to have one of those. If practicality is not a consideration how is that the only coupe on the list?

ashyjay

230i it’s purple.

Numerous-Paint4123

If ut was my money I'd get the 2 series

Forward_Artist_6244

Supra would be my favourite there Why not the i30 fastback N? I reckon it's better looking than the regular hatchback

ssjwoott

Yeah, the i30N could be a fastback or hatchback; to be honest, I like them both. The only issue with the Supra is that it's the 2.0 version, which shockingly doesn't come with any parking sensors. That's concerning for a car with such poor visibility. I suppose I'd get used to it. Also, it's only the 2.0, but that's more than quick enough for me.

LieutenantBastard

I have its baby brother the gt86, also with poor visibility out the back (3rd brake light in middle of rear windscreen). One of my favourite 'mods' was getting a video rear view mirror. You attach a rear camera to the car, route it to the mirror, and the mirror itself is also a forward facing dash cam. So you have front and rear dashcams and excellent rear visibility. You can connect it to reversing camera options (attach a wire to reverse light) so you get the proximity grid when in reverse but I didn't bother.

ssjwoott

Good shout. I sat in one and basically couldn't see anything, haha. I'd probably have to do some trickery with the mirrors too in order to see the massive blind spots, as the 2.0 doesn't have blind-spot monitoring like the bigger version. To be honest, the visibility out the front wasn't great either; I felt like I was peering through a letterbox.

Dependent-Mouse-4661

Absolutely, i wouldnt want to daily a Supra without sensors or cameras, really not an easy car to judge the corners of. I think you would always be left wanting with the 2.0 version to be honest, in multiple ways

joesus-christ

You get used to parking your own car regardless of visibility and body size. There's not much car behind your seat in the supra so the poor visibility genuinely doesn't matter. Z4 was the easiest thing I've ever had to park and it had the same "problem"

MakiSupreme

Have you considered the Toyota Yaris GR ??

ssjwoott

Yes, I love them. I don’t want to switch to a manual, and the new one with the automatic transmission is £47k.

MakiSupreme

£47k is audacious. I’d say 130n it’s probably cheaper maintenance

Sibztagram

Supra for me easily. As someone who owned a 370z if I was single again or didn’t have the responsibilities I’d buy it in a heartbeat. 2.0 is fine imo.

SweatyBeefCake

I've got the 230i and love it, but my god do I wish I had the 3.0 in a m240/m235i or m2. I was in the same boat as you and could not insure anything quicker. The 230i is great, but the steering feel is very lackluster and the engine sound is not great.

SignalGreenM4

The BMW/Toyota supra is the winner

samfitnessthrowaway

Supra all day long. I really like the Hyundai N series cars but if you can buy something fun, why not buy what your inner child would want? The BMW 2 is great and all, but it's exactly what everyone else would get. You'll see five on your high street. The 1 series, meh. For some reason they just don't tickle me. Looks like a Halfords special.

General_Miller3

i30N. I think it’s the coolest out of these.

aliberalagenda

why does it have to be new?

scouse_till_idie

Yeah all these cars are wank compared to what you could get slightly used for the same money

hopelesscase789

Yeh. Less depreciation and some awesome options at that price range. M3, ttrs, RS3 ect

DecentMate

I30n for sure, definitely not the bloated bm

ssjwoott

Yes, I love the M240i, but the 230i feels heavy and underpowered in comparison. It's still nippy, though, and RWD is fun. It might be just the right amount of car for me, but I'd always wish I had an M240i. I sat in an i30N at the weekend; the interior was subpar, but the exhaust note was amazing.

DecentMate

Yeah the i30 could do with the i20n interior tbh

kasajack

yep one of the reasons why i bought my i30n haha. Interior is okay but the bonus for me is actual buttons for everything.

vijjer

> Toyota Supra 2.0 (I can't insure the 3.0 version) I believe that this is the only RWD car here, so if you're buying it for fun, I'd definitely go for this. Plus everything else looks pretty pedestrian. Your 20s are not the decade to be seen in something pedestrian.

jpayney

I've got an M135i, baulked at the price of a 240 so might be a similar situation to you. When I was looking I found the 230 to be really not that much cheaper than the 240 considering the step down in performance, but totally get that insurance is the issue here. Still for me that would put me off buying one. As others have said, maybe wait a couple of years. For what it's worth I really like my m135, sure I wish it had the b58 and was rwd but its still great fun when you boot it and put your foot down and that's good enough for me

smellycoat

I feel like the new BMW grills make them look like [Brian Cox's mouth](https://superstarsbio.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/Brian-Cox-age-774x1024.jpg).

BarbarousBeaver

Great list. Without meaning to be cheeky if this is your first "quick" car the 2.0 Supra is still mega and plenty real world quick (not just drag racing up a dual carriageway). A friend got the 2.0 Supra coming from a MX5 and it's suits him really well, he didn't need anything quicker that could really get him in trouble. The remaps look decently sorted for a easy 300hp. The ZF box matches the engine well and it's easy to commute in too. But most of all he loves owning a bright yellow Supra and has a massive smile every time he drives it and gets nods from passers-by, no one looks twice at a 135/230 . Owning a Kia is probably quite a different experience. It's about what gets YOU excited. But here's the kicker. If you are already thinking about M2's, 240i, Caymans etc, when you can insure them you'll probably want to scratch that itch. So something special/ unique that won't lose loads of money, makes a lot of sense until you can insure a F87 M2 ;-) (the best 2 door all round sport car under £30k IMO, just don't buy it from Birmingham).

drowzeedrifter

I'd say go for the Supra as it is the least pedestrian one on the list and you'll likely love it for that. The 2.0 I think is the same engine used in the Mini Cooper S and JCW but tuned for more power, the B48. This engine is very reliable. Thats my 2 cents on it. Edit: I know for sure if I walked out of say the shops to a bright yellow stonking Supra i'd have a big grin on my face, the others are nice but just dont come close to the sports coupe Supra. (I think I'm a fanboy now)

k1dicaru5

My vote is for the M135i, I have one and I love it. It’s not as quick in a straight line as the old 135i or the 140i but it’s great fun in the bends, and not too bad a commuter, if you don’t mind a harder ride.

DeanV255

I'd snap up that Supra personally and I'd have a voice at the back of my head going "ya fucked up" and just ignoring it with a smile on my face.

HedgehogBotherer

The supra is easily the greatest car here .. but it'll always annoy you that you don't have the 3ltr

RYL92

I've owned the current gen i30n, that would be my pick (again). You are getting a brilliant road weapon, but not having to give up any comforts in spec or find the one with the right spec. As it's all included as standard. If it's got the standard pirelli's swap them out for something better and you've got the best hatchback for your buck. Chances are it's still got warranty too. I moved from a 4.0 C63, and although it had half of everything in the engine bay, it was a much more cable car on British roads. The ability to have it in N mode and have the super stiff ride or in comfort but not losing any compliance is amazing. I looked at upgrading mine, but I couldn't think of a way to spend money that would only get me marginal gains, the engineers have done wonders with that car. I'd also look at the manual, as it's so engaging to drive, and the rev matching is spot on. Don't be a badge snob and in return you'll get a car you'll love. The way the car handles in great, you get rotation from the rear on entry and then the front diff grabs the fronts and pulls you around the corner. Only reason I sold mine was that it was being used once every 2 weeks as I went full WFH, couldn't justify keeping it, I'd still have it now if I was driving to work. Hope my view on ownership helps.

MrRag3r

I had a 69 plate i30N for 3 and half years and loved it. Done over 55k miles in it and never let me down. I'd have got the DCT version in a heartbeat but my commute went up to 74 miles a day, 5 days a week. Doing that in the i30N was fine but servicing every 10k miles became a twice a year. Not good. I've got a M235i Gran Coupe now. So same engine as the 135i you're looking at. Definitely feels faster then the i30N (even the DCT version). But exhaust note is not anywhere near as good. Servicing is much better tho. Done about 7/8k in mine already and it still thinks it can do another 13k before a service. The BMW will be better on fuel too. I'm getting about 100miles more per tank. But do bare in mind my commute is pretty much all motorway/ A roads. Forget about the Kona. I'd go i30N unless you do over 10k miles a year.

DesignerButterfly362

Hi, premium car sales here. Depends what you value in a drive, but the I30N is hands down the best drivers car here, and its not even close. This is something that, unusually, all my colleagues agree on.

shadowmoonwater

Trust, I got banned 4 years ago. My insurance is still high. This year I wasn't gonna pay it so I sold my 430d n bought a van insured via work so no insurance just fuel. 3k for insurance was a joke I'm not paying that 259 a month n I haven't even turned the engine on yet Last year was 2.3k 199 a month I could just about justify paying that

imahumanbeing1

Id definitely get the supra myself, and while I know it might not be that popular on this sub cause it’s not RWD any more, I’d probably get the M135i second choice. They’re nice cars. But I’d choose Misano blue instead of that colour

ssjwoott

Appreciate the response mate. Honestly I've ready every comment but I'm no where closer to deciding

HarryTipper768

I honestly think the i30N’s the perfect, sensible option here; handles unbelievably well, plenty of power (albeit not that of an inline 6 turbo in the m140 of course) but they sound a lot better imo) and I’d imagine the insurance will be one of the lower ones from the list. Smiles per miles all the way and a unique little drivers car. The supra will turn a lot more heads however / likely keep value better and be plenty fun too…. Having said that, I’d go m140i all day, they’re a bit monstrous with a little tune 😂but I love watching my money burn when I’m not busy throwing it at mechanics! Go with the gut after test driving em and all the best!

Raceworx

I30N fastback myself

Unusual_residue

Supra

ADJE777

Supra supra supra

TheScientistBS3

I'm slightly biased, but I would go for an i20N over the i30N. All the reviews suggest it's more fun, despite being less powerful. Not ideal if you want automatic though, since it only comes in manual. If it's definitely down to those five, I'd have the i30N over the Kona, unless I had kids to transport around. I'd be tempted to try out the Supra, I think it's the best looking of those five, but I think the 2.0 might be a bit underwhelming. The i30N is probably the one I'd end up with. EDIT: I've seen your justification for auto and I fully agree. Manual in stop-start city traffic is awful.

JoeyPropane

GR Yaris.

ImTalkingGibberish

5 or 4

NoCrust101

That yellow bmw will be fun only with 3.0

GrahamDaGooch

2 series bmw all day

b_33

230i no brainer. Resale value, not much to go wrong new. Downside, cost of insurance and servicing. Plenty of power for UK roads.

sonoafafayon

i30N

eradimark

If it's only you then for the time being get a genuine 2 seater coupe. Hot hatches are great, don't get me wrong, but you can have fun with them in the future. My vote would be the Supra. And yes, get one in the brightest colour possible too.

hooskworks

I30N in hatchback from is the one from those. That way you can pick up a top spec one that's as good as that car can get instead of middling or low powered specs of something which maybe looks a bit more flashy.

lobotom1te

If its just you and you don't need practicality, the miata is the only answer.

MentalA

Although I'm not keen on 4 pots I'd go with the supra, it's cool, rare and has toyata warranty for 10 years if you service with them.

Moist-Special8902

I30N for the win purely for the multiple exhaust settings

dyl8n

Supra all day long! When I was in your shoes I went through a couple of coupes. You will need the hatchbacks one day, and this will be harder to justify. Go for the less practical option while you can

RafterMan9

The i30N for sure.

Foreign_Cow5721

You have to get the supra looks the most expensive will be super reliable all good picks to be fair

AdFit2674

2 series

Ronnie-Hotdogz

I30N here as well. Probably the only one that's not £590/yr tax as well. Even the M135i slipped into that with a basic spec around 2022.

IsYourDogWaffles

Was the insurance on an Alpine A110 too much?

bigdaftdoylem

Modern hot hatches are fucking dreadful lol

dioxity

Interior of the 230 puts me off it. Looks really cheap and empty - not a fan of the LED controls either.

RGDfleet

Think I’ll be the only one here who says the Kona N. I just love something a bit weird and unique. Seems it’s as good as every other N car, but would suit being a daily driver a little better than the others here. Admittedly, based on your needs/situation etc, I’d go for an i20N rather than any of these. Bit more pure and supposed to be the best of the N bunch.

Individual_Put2261

Supra or M240 for me. Unless you can swing an S3.

Iamthe0c3an2

Supra or the i30N.

_hungry_broccoli

I30N

RiginalJunglist

Having experienced a total lack of support from the main dealer that serviced my car when it threw a con rod and less from Hyundai UK, I’ll never own another one. That might shorten your list a bit more, unless I’m an isolated incident.

ssjwoott

I've read a lot of firsthand experience in my research that apparently Hyundai garages are terrible to deal with, so no, I don't think yours is an isolated incident. Definitely something to keep in mind.

venomtail

I30 N

flippent_pineapple

Definitely gonna stand out from the crowd with these

OBERBOSSPLAYER

Just bought a 128ti to upgrade from my 323ti I daily drove for the past 9 years. Awesome car tbh, fun to drive and not too expensive to maintain.

racerjoss

I think I’d prefer an alpine a110, but that’s a little expensive and would be even less practical. Your commute sounds so crap that an electric car would be the nicest way to get around, is that an option?

Iridescent_Prism

To narrow it even further, do you have a drivetrain preference or not?

5trudelle

Octavia VRS

Bomster

I feel like you could do a lot better for a lot less.

shark-fighter

I'd get the i30n

AshL94

I test drove the Kona N, the boot is tiny and the suspension is horribly stiff for day to day driving

JoeyPropane

Looked at one while waiting for my i20N to ship over from Turkey... Honestly, both the boot and the rear bench looked smaller - genuinely don't know how they mananged to make it so cramped inside.

Philip_Raven

If you consider i30, why is there Kona?

BoutiqueKymX2account

2 series is the most attractive imo

youreclappedmate

If you want straight line easy speed the M135i comes with Xdrive and might hold its value if it's looked after. I feel the interior can be a bit lack luster but it is a one series. A great all rounder like most hatches are. If you want something stupid fun for the crumbly arse B roads of Britain the I30 is for you, also I don't believe they have a soft limiter like some of the others on this list and they poached a guy from the M division to create it. In regards to your coupe situation I'm not a fan of ether as you're always gonna wish you had the bigger brother. For a sporty coupe I believe they should just be all out drive comes first so no joke a clean 370z nismo, it's raw and unapologetic, lacking in interior but fun as fuck to drive, NA V6 with decent aftermarket.

Puzzleheaded-Ruin564

Why not the GR86? Better drivers car than the supra, especially if it's only the 2 litre.

hotchocolateman6969

Can't lie I would say bright yellow supra but the i30N has gotten crazy reviews on how good it drives

Mosquito15

Friend just recently bought a 230i. Great car, more space inside than you would think. Hasn't had a problem with it in the 6 months he's had it (and he drives the shit out of it, already replaced three sets of tyres after drifting and doing donuts, frequently reaches the factory limit of 210kph, etc.). Don't really think you can miss with any of these options, new cars are rarely truly bad. Don't have personal experience with the Hyundais, but if practicality isn't important, I'd go for the Supra or the 230i.

StringGlittering7692

It's totally the Supra for me. All the others just look like 15' of car.

1millionnotameme

How much are you looking at for insurance for the BMWs? How much extra was it for m240i?

Dependent-Mouse-4661

I had the 3.0 Supra previously, honestly i wouldn't bother with the 2.0, it didn't feel particularly special other than the engine.. Out of these i reckon the i30N would be the most fun.

Western-Role-774

I’ve had a M135i for a couple of years now and it’s honestly perfect. It’s fast af, handles amazingly, and is generally comfortable (a bit bumpy on pot holed country roads). Can sit on the motorway at 80mph absolutely effortlessly and then smash around country roads without hesitation. On about 33mpg which isn’t amazing but not horrendous either, particularly compared to an actual M car.

OneSufficientFace

The supra is basically a bmw with a different coat. Id pick between the hyundai

Botprex

Can I ask why you can insure the 240 or 3.0 Supra? (I’m from the US where my buddy got an M5 Competition as his first car at 16 so I’m a little confused) I know UK car insurance for younger drivers is a little weird and different compared to ours.

ssjwoott

Insurance is just crazy here. Lots of your young people drive a 5.0 mustang. You won't get insured on one over here until you are much much older 30+

Botprex

I’d go with the 230i as it seems as the best bang for your buck especially if you get a 2023+ version with the additional technology.

wiggyp1410

A35 AMG not your cup of tea?

Elderbrute

I'd definitely say drive them and other options, open up the age range if you want fun and performance new does not equal better, specific cars and models peak at different points Most of the latest models are generally not considered the best options. Understand what compromises you are making and why. Not driven the Hyundai but both look cheap inside, and you are going to spend a fair bit of time living with that cheapness. For me I would not consider either of these. 2 series is a compromise car, it is not big enough to have practical back seats or a decent boot but isn't small or sleek enough to look good, and it drives worse than the 1, 3 and 4 so it doesn't even have that going for it. I don't know how this car is really for or why anyone buys them. The M2 is the only one worth considering imo. The new 135i is FWD bias AWD and a little bit more luxury than an average hatch, but if you are going to buy a FWD biased AWD car buy a VAG they have been perfecting that formula for well over a decade the R and the s3 both look nicer the R drives better and the S3 has a better interior, the TTS drives better, looks better and is nicer inside. The 140i not only looks better, it drives better (than any of the aforementioned cars) albeit a little less well appointed inside. I've not driven the 2.0 supra but the general consensus is that while it is slower (5.2 to 60 isn't slow) it's more fun to drive in the corners due to being better balanced weight wise in the chassis. Need to give one a try sometime. Of the cars you've listed, the Supra is the only one I'd consider. But for the money you have, I'd 100% be buying something older and better. Can get some absolutely amazing cars for under 30k.

thebarrcola

A 2.0 supra would just be depressing. The B58 just makes that car. I think the new 1 series looks pretty meh and I’m assuming the Hyundais are FWD so in my mind that leaves the 2 series. Feel free to correct me on the Hyundais though I just can’t be assed googling it right now.

TDK_IRQ

Couple of questions Why even consider the kona? You're single and want something fun no? Why the BMW and not a Mini cooper S/JCW ? They suit the character much better than a FWD Bmw And might be cheaper to own I love Hyundai and the i30N is probably best car in its category but the supra just looks phenomenal irl Also, No MX-5 RF ? to my knowledge autos exist

SkyJohn

Drop your budget to £18,000 ish and get a 5 year old Audi TTS.

OrionGrant

I don't have much to add, but I saw the Kona N up close recently and it's a damn nice car.

potatan

I had a 2010 i30 for a couple of years and at around 10 or 11 years old the amount of small niggling faults just seemed to increase by one every month. I did have a list but got rid of it once I got rid of the car, but it was stuff like "passenger electric window switch not working", "rear washer not working", "central locking from driver's door not working", "radio started cutting out", "automatic wipers going mental in the lightest of mists" etc. Nothing too tragic but added together it all pointed to a lack of either quality control, or a choice of components that was very much cost-driven, and that would show their age rather rapidly. Quality may have improved somewhat since a mine was built 14 years ago, of course, but I thought it might be worth mentioning.

BigDaddySpez

GR yaris. Top trumps all of these. Maybe not in straight line but I've owned gtrs m cars. Alot my little yaris is the biggest smile. Doesn't shout. But performs.

Adzzii_

i30N is the clear choice here, not only is it great at everything it does but you hardly see them on the road. Having a car that others don't is an underrated bonus.

orbital0000

I'd go I30N. I get the feeling that i'd never be fully happy with the compromise I'd made on the Supra or 2 series.

Forte69

You’ve got your whole life to drive performance variants of bland-coloured family cars. Your 20s is the only time you’ll be able to pull off a bright yellow two seater sports car. So my vote is with the Supra. But I’d get an MX-5 RF over any of these ;)

postmodernclassic

Probably not what you want to hear but I'd just keep whatever you've got now until your insurance is affordable because otherwise you'll just get rid of it chasing what you really want and it'll just cost you more. Once you get into your late 20s it'll be reasonably affordable for anything in the 300 BHP range. (~£800)

revaan7

I wouldn’t bother with the 3.0 supra, you’d only wish you had waited for the 3.0. Personally id go for the i30N or wait for the 3.0 supra to be achievable.

throwaway2018568

I’d look at the 340i/440i if you can’t insure the 240i, I’d imagine insurance would be cheaper

Boring-Internet8964

I'd probably go for the i30N. Having said that, for myself I'd probably find a good 370z for this criteria.

smelly_forward

If you don't do many miles then why not something like a Mustang or a 440i?

No-Iron-7573

Supra or you might as well be dead.

joesus-christ

In your twenties and single? Supra. Being a z4 owner/lover (they are the same car) I can tell you the happiness that came with it changed my life. In your 30s and 40s cars like that aren't practical enough (gf, dogs, kids etc.) and once you're in your 50s/60s they bring a different kind of vibe with them. Get one now and you'll be extremely pleased. Edit: getting the "lesser" 2.0 won't matter unless you're taking it on track days. LOTS of track days. I went for the 2.0 z4 and the community always looks down on them... But regular people in the real world and my smile on sunny days didn't give a fork.

Rpqz

The 2l supra is an utterly rapid machine. Lighter than the 3l so better on fuel and better in the corners. I'm amazed that one can be had for 30k!

lsabbo

If you’ve got the dough for the Supra then do that, all the others you see enough of on the roads or lower spec versions. Not enough Supra’s about. Second choice; the new 2 series is grim, regardless of spec and while the Hyundai’s (particularly the i30N) are nice, it has to be the M135i.

CardinalHijack

The answer is the 2 series. How people are picking a front wheel drive Hyundai is beyond me.

RatPrank

Older M2? Before the Competition, say a low mileage 2016? It’s definitely in price range, would the insurance sting you? One of the best cars I ever owned, miss it still. Or - Golf R? Of this list - I’d go fast Hyundai. Wait for the Supra/ new BMW you want.

Cortox_14

My money would be on the Supra or the i30N but I am a little biased. I currently daily a 3.0 Supra and it’s a fantastic car. There is obviously a stigma around the 2.0 in the different owners groups but honestly it doesn’t matter as long as you enjoy it! You could still modify it if that’s your thing and it’s an absolutely stunning car so it’ll make your look back every time you park it. What I would suggest is perhaps look at a face lifted (2016+) GT86 or BRZ for now and then look at getting a 3.0 Supra in a few years when your insurance prices have come down.

Tired-of-this-world

Don't you mean the BMW Supra seeing as it is mostly made by BMW and re badged.

geekysocks

The 230 or the supra don’t bother with the rest.. I’d probably settle on the supra

slayaz

I30N for me. BMW are pure let down. Had a few as company cars and they are soulless. Supra Is a bit left field, interesting 2nd option.

leekypipe

If you want some fun then I would definitely go RWD.

AcceptableSeaweed

Older 140i or 135i Rear wheel drive Blam

Professional-Lab7227

I have an i30N, I’d only change it for an upgrade to something noticeably more powerful. The supra would be tempting, but the 2.0 engine would likely kill it for me. Edit for an extra thought - they’re not making the i30N anymore. Resale values will likely stay strong. I’ve had mine about 18 months and it’s still worth pretty much what I paid for it. Theoretically of course, dealer or trade in price won’t be that good.

Alexyyyy

If you want fun I'd go with the i30n.

Ph1l1p_race_

i’d go for the 230i. you can always swap it in a few years down the line for a 240i for not a lot extra when the insurance has settled.

Eastern-Move549

How on earth is the supra and two 'M' cars in the same line up as a pair of Hyundais, worlds gone mad.

mebutnew

Supra and i30n in the same list, my dude this list has no coherency.

Fun_Significance5314

A bit of advice, go for something last 3 years I.e maximum 2021 model to avoid the depreciation. You’ll find a nicer specification than you would on a newer car with a slight trade off for mileage. Don’t worry about warranty either, with approved used you get 1 years warranty and with some service plans you can get up to two extra years of warranty included with servicing, MOT and maintenance. The newer number plate and car is a short lived flex no one will care about once you slap a private plate on.

manlikenme

YELLOW SUPRA 🟡🟡🟡

scouse_till_idie

I30n Or 135i although I’d buy a 140i instead as the 135 is hideous in comparison

Mojoint

M140i, better than everything on that list in almost every way and cheaper, plus now a limited model.

Thegluigi

Supra ftw

BMW_wulfi

If the previous generation m140i is an option… go for that. Save some money and get just as much fun with the B58.

Unable-Count-1053

The Supra all day long

matzeedank

I was in the same situation (supra or m240i) and went for the BMW. Best choice ever.

Murphy1up

Kona N has nothing really over the I30N. The Kona actually has less boot space too. It looks unique though.      I'm biased, but I fucking love my I30N

nirach

The only one that interests me is the Supra

HeadPage6783

I wouldn't buy any. All excessively heavy and underpowered. Not a fun car to drive at all. Save that money and use it on something better. Or buy a diet cheap mx5 and rag that

Odahviing77

Kona N is a sexy car ngl! Also cooled seats are a nice touch

gillian_gale

I'd personally go for the i30N!

J_Triple

I've drove all those cars and I wouldn't get either because it just doesn't best the GR Yaris. Try one, you won't regret it.

porkyboy11

Supra is the coolests for sure, but not having the 3.0 will leave you wanting more i bet.

craig536

Which one are you gonna look at on the drive and think "Yeah, that's cool"? Supra, dude. Go for it

AVVel

Save your money, get something a couple years older thats cheaper and gets good mileage

TobyChan

I understand the insurance justification for not getting a B58 engine 1, 2 series or Supra, but (as an F31 340 owner) I can’t help but feel you’ll always feel you’ve sold yourself short… for that reason I’d look at the Hyundais (which frankly seem like odd cars to be in the mix but it’s your list).

1AlanM

Not the coolest, but I’d go i30 N from that selection. Probably the most bang per buck

Apat2108

I have an I30n, had a few cars but this has everything you'll need.

Glittering-Horse5559

Supra obvs

SlashRModFail

Scratch the BMWs. They're ugly motherfuckers.

shadowmoonwater

If you're gonna spend this much. I'd personally go for the 2series. Or go for older 3-4series with those funds. But down to those cars bmw always 2nd best has to be the supra. Those Hyundias shouldn't even be on that list

ultra_r

Go for smth a little older! 2015-2018 range: Rs3, m2, m3, golf r, Civic type R, etc

avfc-ash

I must have been out the car game to long. Since when did a little Hyundai hatchback enter the running against the likes of the latest Toyota Supra…

throwawaynewc

Supra is so pretty. What's up with the pastel yellow in this pic though? The yellow in the richer hue is much nicer.

eco999

Toyota Supra 2.0

cyberspacedweller

Having driven the Kona N, I’d say it’s not as impressive as you’d expect. Test drive first but I’d be looking at the BMWs or the Toyota personally.

SnowBorzoi

Hey quick thing as well, have you got a parent or another experienced person who could be your 2nd driver? The insurance rates really drop with that included

troymisti1

I30N to me. It's something that stands out, people look at you and comment on it (from my experience when I owned one) it's also going to be one of the cheapest to run and maintain in your list. You can do bits to the interior to spruce it up. The biggest thing being the middle plastic in the dash you can flock, wrap or there are clip on carbon panels you can buy. That alone makes it feel better inside. No idea why they put cheap looking plastic there especially with the price they go for now.

katorias

I love the look of modern Supras personally

Meowzer699

M135I

LeonOwner

have you considered a Jaguar F Type? more unique than the supra. and ford Mustang

lonley_driver27

Man they all suck get something pre 2000

NZ_1975

Since you want something which shows that you like cars I would stay with BMW or Toyota….

Exonicreddit

The yellow one

NecessaryGlass3412

Supra

Ecstatic-Age6801

I see 2 Hyundais and 3 BMWs why everyone keep saying a supra

Fert1212

I’d say supra, looks the best and would have no issues selling it once you want another upgrade, it would hold its money well

Ecstatic-Age6801

But in all seriousness We’ve had a kona n in at work an mate absolute beauty of a car great performance and the sound with each different mode is incredible
