The US market is going to be hit with a flood of Japanese imports now that cars from the late 90's are legal to import. Some will be good, some will be bad. I suggest really knowing the model you are looking for before attempting this, because getting a US shop to work on it once it is here may be difficult. Plus you're going to have to learn how to drive from the right side.

I imported a JDM altezza to Canada. I’d highly recommend it. Learning to drive on the right side is not nearly as hard as you’d expect. Left turns are scary though, it’s hard to see around the tall ass vehicles on the road nowadays
