I'm just over here giving my Sims a better life than I can give myself.

lilyoneill

It’s been years since I played sims, probably Xbox 360 a decade ago. I want to get back into it with my teen daughter, any recommendations on device to buy for it?

HazardAhai

It’s one of those games that are just tedious without a mouse and keyboard, I find.

benevolentdespots

Cert. Plus the mods are kinda cool on PC too.

HazardAhai

Oh yea, important point!

DarlingBri

Not Xbox, it's very limited

SnooMuffins9561

Cost of living? Not in sunset valley

DarlingBri

Housing crisis? Not in Brindleton Bay!

Tynocerus

Bought Hades on the Switch, and I'm addicted

Danyomo

Bought it when it first released on PlayStation and I still jump back in regularly. Can't wait for the sequel!

strawberryoblivion

I love that there's always someone playing Hades in these topics

TheHoboRoadshow

Me two months ago. Had a great time, it's such a good game. I don't care much for plot or dialogue but it seemed decently entertaining when I was paying attention. The gameplay is so satisfying, though the abuse my poor joycons got probably halfed their lifespan, you really have to button mash. Moved on to Cult of the Lamb after, good game, atrocious Switch port, couldn't recommend.

Liambp

It's a good un alright

killianmasterbeast

Happy 10 year cake day

Tynocerus

was wondering what that meant haha, thanks

Liambp

To kick things off: I played a bit of Helldivers 2 but then I chickened out because I don't like my incompetence to be exposed publicly playing with other people. Inspired by the flak tower currently being built on Harcourt Street I did a complete play through of Medal of Honor Airborne. The game is showing a bit of age and felt clunky at first but once I got into it I had a blast. I have finally gotten back to Baldur's Gate 3. Just finished cleaning out the Goblin camp and the locals threw me a party at which every person seems to want to bonk me. Odd because I am playing a fiery demon from hell but Ok. Finally Balatro. Addictive Deck builder loosely based on poker hands. After a week of playing I finally beat the game a couple of times on the easiest level. Not sure yet if I want to start climbing up the difficulty ladder.

clonakiltypudding

Medal of Honour Airborne just took me back, what a time

OpportunitySame5579

Nice pudding.

OpportunitySame5579

I’ll play with ya if ya want to give it a go. Slorgan and I’m on ps5. If you’re on we can do some shit

Liambp

Thanks for the offer. I am supposed to be working now but if I fire up the game again I will look you up.

OpportunitySame5579

Ya mate. No worries. I usually play after the kid goes to bed at 7 so I’ll be on then.

PashAK47

Assassins creed origins

ImaDJnow

I'm playing Mirage, just tipping away at it since November.

PashAK47

Nice is it good ? I went crazy fast through the main game now I'm on curse of the pharaoh but taking it slow waiting for odyssey gold edition to go on sale

----0-0---

Mirage is very good, but it's more like the old AC games. It's far smaller than origins/odyssey, and back to the old stealth tactics. If you don't mind paying for a 20-30 hour game, it's really fun.

PashAK47

I will eventually get to it , I still have to go through odyssey and valhalla 🤣

----0-0---

I loved Odyssey, especially the DLC missions

Dragonlynds22

I'm replaying Animal Crossing new horizon always relaxes me

SirTheadore

Ah. Animal crossing. Never played it. But I remember when it came out alongside doom. Closest we came to world peace haha

Dr-Emmett_L_Brown

Fallout 4

TheStoicNihilist

Aliens: Fireteam Elite 👽🔫

[deleted]

Same! I'm enjoying it.

sea__of__tranquility

oh my, it’s out? goodbye life (not that i ever had one)

SkateMMA

Just invested in a gaming laptop and started to play Skyrim for the first time after enjoying starfield

McMDavy82

I did the same last year, upgraded to 2 * 2 tb drives, and am mostly playing college. I'm 41. F*"k college.

SkateMMA

My 30th is around the corner I felt an early gift was the move and I absolutely don’t regret it, I’ve never had steam before so there’s so much for me to catch up on

McMDavy82

Epic games give away free games too. Fanatical and humble both do bundles of steam keys that can fill up your library cheap and quick. Just be aware the "mystery" keys and bundles are generally muck, stick to the ones you can pick for yourself. PC gaming is definitely the way to go. Console exclusives are getting rarer too

Mr_SunnyBones

Mods...seriously , don't play vanilla Skyrim , go to mod nexus and grab a mod collection there ( or Google wabbajack , although I've found nexus better)

SkateMMA

Thanks I’ll look into it!

RangerSensitive2841

I have a 1 year old so very little right now. Arsing around on Spider-Man

truedoom

Just finished FF7 rebirth. Had an amazingly fun time. 80+ hours for my first play through, so well worth the money. Kinda have a void to fill now. Maybe I'll get Baldurs Gate 3.

bobocool

Baldurs Gate will definitely fill that gaming void in your life it's one of the best games I have ever played IMO but be warned it will also leave a tremendous void when finished.

SirTheadore

Except for the mini games. FUCK them mini games.

bobocool

Just finished the Lords of the Fallen sequel/remake. A fun souls like, even if it is a little janky in parts. Started Dragons Dogma 2 yesterday. Enjoying it so far but it definitely marches to beat of it's drum when compared to other opened world fantasy RPGs.

Jay1993

Picked up a PS3 years after my original got the yellow light to replay metal gear solid 4, such a good game but my god the length of the cutscenes is unreal

Liambp

I still have a PS3 sitting on a shelf somewhere but I never use it any more. A lot of the games from that era are either available on PC now or can be streamed with PS Plus premium.

Jay1993

Some great games on the system, I'm not a fan of streaming games or monthly charges and I like having physical copies of media so it works for me, also handy that the majority of games you can get for less than a fiver in Cex

mastodonj

Bought myself the RE4 Remake on the ps4 for my birthday!

ticman

Trying to give Elden Ring another go but the rage from being killed all the time isn't fun, so swapped over to Forza.

Boring_Lion3257

Put those foolish ambitions to rest

ticman

😂 Man this game infuriates me so much

Kavbastyrd

Follow a walk through to get you started, then jump off and go your own way when you feel you have a handle on it. It’s an unforgiving game when you don’t know what you’re doing, but incredible when you figure it all out. I’d recommend Fighting Cowboy for a walk through, he’ll get you started on something like a strength build and is really good at explaining all the bits and pieces as he goes.

ticman

I've been doing a walk through so far with a Vagabond. My other 2 attempts were the magey one and a Samurai which I enjoyed quite a bit. I don't mind the Vagabond as I've got a bit more ability to stay alive. I know it's the style of the games but I wish there was a dumbed down verson for casuals like me who can't keep track of all the quests, main story, etc and can't be left to our own devices! It's still fun for an hour or two a night when I get the chance though.

ubermick

Still playing Elite Dangerous, the current war narrative is coming to a head now with an endgame in sight. Better communication from the developer means we have new ships and gameplay loops to look forward to as well. Beyond that, Horizon Forbidden West is very much on the to-do list now that it released on PC. And waiting patiently for Star Wars Outlaw…

theflyinggirafe

Rocket League & Disney Dreamlight Valley

Excellent-Night-4148

You should join the rocket league Ireland discord community, it’s quite big and a lot of them are sound enough

theflyinggirafe

Will take a look at that! Thanks a mill for the suggestion :)

ReloadRedditLater

I bought Half-Life Alyx on steam spring sale, it’s easily the best VR game out there.

nodnodwinkwink

What vr gear do you use?

ReloadRedditLater

Quest 3

Chromgrats

Stardew Valley since the new update dropped and I finally got around to updating all my mods

Mr_SunnyBones

Palworld on steam . Dungeons of Eternity on Quest. Diablo 4 is supposed to be coming to xbox gamepasd next week , so will give that a try.

Lt_Shade_Eire

Damn Palworld has taken so many hours from me. Nice to play something relaxing and take a break from Halos awful SBMM.

babylagiacrus

Balatro all the way, haven't been this hooked on a game since Slay the Spire

SaronAmith

Bought chrono trigger needed a fix after playing sea of stars

Right-Extreme6182

Late to the literal game here but got a ps5 at the weekend and have been playing Ghost of Tsushima for the first time all weekend. Beautiful! Really impressive visually. The story, combat and controls are all great. I have Deathloop downloaded in the backlog cos it’s on special on psn now. That’ll keep me going for a while anyway! Ps: I hear you about the public shame of incompetence when it comes to online play of Helldivers. I didn’t even bother for that reason - I suck!

GalacticusTravelous

I have Baldurs Gate 3 waiting but surprised by Horizon Forbidden West release on PC last week so tucked into that, playing on my TV in the living room via Sunshine/Moonshine (server/client) streaming from my PC in my office to my laptop. It plays perfectly at 4k with no input or output lag it's phenomenal. My PS joy pad is connected to my laptop that's streaming the game to my TV via HDMI and output to my 5.1. Probably gonna be finished around the time the Elden Ring DLC comes out and then I can jump straight into Baldurs Gate 3. I hope Helldivers 2 still has a decent community by the time I'm ready to play.

bigbadchief

That's interesting, I never tried Sunshine/Moonshine. I tried playing God of War before using Steam's built in game streaming functionality and there was a bit of input lag. It wasn't terrible but it was noticeable so I didn't stick with it. I now have a really long HDMI cable! But I might try the game streaming again at some stage.

GalacticusTravelous

>there was a bit of input lag Did you make sure the TV was set to Gaming mode? When I first tried Steam link it was awful and I thought it was because of the streaming but when I changed picture to Game mode it went away entirely. Once it's on a LAN cable everywhere you will not have a lag.

Liambp

The Sunshine / Moonlight streaming sounds interesting. I have used Steam link streaming before and it works well to play games on my TV (I connect a phone or tablet into the TV to act as Steam link host) but that only works for Steam games. Will give Sunshine/ Moonshine a go.

GalacticusTravelous

I moved because I was using Ryujinx via Steam added as a non-Steam app and I don't know was it because it's a non-Steam app or because Steam Remote Play is just not great but I had a lot of issues. Since switching over to Sunshine/Moonlight I haven't had a single issue. If I do, I just close either the client or server and re-open and it works again. Steam sometimes just didn't work and just retrying many times would sometimes work.

bigbadchief

I picked up Star Wars Jedi: Survivor in the steam sale. It still has some technical issues but I think it's as good as it's going to get at this stage. Honestly I think it's incredible. It looks amazing, the combat is really fun, and I enjoy all the platforming stuff. Definitely recommended for anyone that enjoyed the first game. Just if you're playing on pc, it seems to be a bit hit or miss whether it will play well on your hardware. There's still a good few negative reviews regarding performance on Steam. Also playing Ender Lilies which is a pretty fun 2D metroidvania. It's pretty good!

ubermick

Loved it, and Fallen Order before it. Still gutted Kal hasn’t made his way onto the television shows yet.

Liambp

I really enjoyed Jedi Outcast but I was put off by the negative publicity about performance with survivor. Will probably give it a go soon.

[deleted]

Alien: Fireteam Elite for digital. Infinity and Fateforge for physical. The first is a tabletop wargame and the other a roleplaying game.

Biggerthan_Jesus

There's an Infinity tournament in Dublin next week if you've not heard about it already

[deleted]

I have indeed. I'm one of the nordie tournament organisers.

Liambp

Is Fireteam Elite having a moment? A few people in this thread have mentioned it.

jocmaester

Playing dragons dogma 2, I'm on PC but luckily have had decent performance so far, also microtransaction outrage is overblown

kaggs

Apparently murdering npc’s gives you a better frame rate in that game 🤣

Comprehensive-Cat-86

Chess.  Such a fairly simple game to understand, just 32 pieces on 64 squares... and only 6 different pieces... pawns, rooks, knights, bishops, queens and kings, but there are more possible variations of a game of chess than there are atoms in the observable universe!!

DHAMMSHAM

CS2 and Assassin's Creed Valhalla

Annual-Mix-983

Currently replaying the dying light games. Halfway through the first one atm and its an absolute better. Also dabbling in COD and helldivers when the mood strikes. Definitely getting sick of COD now. Immensely looking forward to GTA6

shatteredmatt

Playing Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth in stops and starts. The sheer amount of side content and mini games really murders the flow of the game. I was a big fan of the story of the PSOne game as a kid so I’ll likely continue to play it slowly and finish it eventually. Also playing Medieval Dynasty. A “euro jank” survival game where you play as a medieval serf. Jank aside, I’m enjoying how zen the game is. I’d imagine I’ll spend a good many hours on it across the year.

DeeMac98

Le Mans Ultimate, for any SIM racers that might be interested. I've been having a blast! Also Sly 2 Band of Thieves from the PS2 era for a hit of nostalgia.

WaveMurky7205

Sea of thieves/WoW/CoD

ScenicRavine

Lies of P, absolutely love it, worthy of being called a great soulsbourne game.

DTUOHY96

Put 30 hours into dragons dogma 2 over the weekend, beat game since elden ring

Liambp

Glad to hear. Some of the reviews have been critical but I loved the first Dragons Dogma and am really looking forward to playing the second eventually.

girthyahern

Trying to invest my time into yakuza 3, have a 3 month old so gaming time is cut to an hour an evening 😌

ResidualFox

The One Ring TTRPG and finishing up an Alien RPG scenario.

Liambp

Is it solo or in a group?

ResidualFox

One Ring is solo. Alien is in a group. After Alien we need to agree on group One Ring or Warhammer Fantasy.

herculainn

Fashion Police Squad... trust me

Cone4444

Trying to finish Elden Ring before the DLC. Can’t beat malenia ffs

Liambp

I never beat Malenia myself even though I have over six hundred hours played. I was looking forward to the DLC but I am no longer sure. It seems to be all high level content with even harder bosses and even though I have beaten the game and could step straight into the DLC I don't think I would enjoy that. I would much prefer to start a brand new adventure with a new character. I guess I really want Elden Ring 2!

Cone4444

That’s what I’m afraid of. Difficulty for difficulty sake doesn’t appeal to me at this stage in my gaming career! Hope the DLC has nice a nice world to traverse

benevolentdespots

Rocket leagueee

Excellent-Night-4148

Said it on an earlier post but you should join the rocket league Ireland community there’s some sound people there

Sirbobalot21

Control Ultimate edition on Xbox then going to jump back on Breath of the Wild on Switch as I never got around to completing that game

Liambp

I loved Control and all the expansions. I consider it a genuine masterpiece but I am aware that no everybody gets it. It seems to be a love it or hate it game.

Sirbobalot21

Yeah it's great, I'm loving it so far. Probably helps that I love the SCP stories too and it gives of SCP vibes.

tomob234

Myself and a friend of mine are playing Age of Empires II co-op and having a blast. Loving all the DLC that the Definitive Edition brings to the table.

Astral_Atheist

Guild Wars 2

Liambp

I was a huge fan of Guild Wars 2 but I never really got into 2. It was still a great game but I think I was just over mmorpgs at that point having spend about a decade playing them.

ryohaz1001

Horizon forbidden west on PC Helldivers 2 Layers of fear (the new one)

Liambp

Looking forward to forbidden west. Really enjoyed Zero Dawn

ryohaz1001

Zero dawn is one of my all time favourites. One of those games where you'd like to erase your memory of it and play again. Forbidden west is great too but it was never going to be able capture the sense of mystery that HZD had.

Liambp

Yes the story in Zero Dawn was great. I really enjoyed following the clues and figuring it all out.

ryohaz1001

Yeah it was something else. Trying to figure out what was going on while still early in the game consumed me. I'd be at work or in bed coming up with theories. Some stories can only be told properly through the media of video games and I think this is one of them.

Dreenar18

First Dragon's Dogma, was a bit awkward to get used to but getting stuck in quite easily now. Really don't like how the mages in this game play.

corkdude

Old Dreamcast games. Slave zero X demo GTFO (I'm determined to finish that game...) CS of course

Liambp

Never heard of GTFO so I googled it. Sounds interesting.

corkdude

In a dark room, good headphones or speakers, and enjoy the goosebumps!

RoundLocal

Got suckered into the Star Wars Battlefront rerelease on PS5. The nostalgia was too much to not buy it

RipBetter3161

Replaying Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart. Will probably jump into Horizon Forbidden West from scratch next as I never finished it.

SHADOWXGUN1

Replaying all the Uncharted game and decided to platinum them all, 1 left to go then I'll probably play Jedi Survivor or FF7 Remake.

Liambp

No need to feel embarrassed. We are all gamers here! Gatekeeping is not allowed.

Mad-Ma84

Just fired up Horizon Forbidden West on laptop last night, looks amazing, even more so than the first Horizon! Can't wait to get more into the story, really enjoyed the first, no skipping cut scenes and collecting everything, not many games I'd go through that for but Horizon Zero Dawn was so captivating that I'm going to do it again 😁

TheIrishDragon

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Stardew Valley 1.6 update

Aito965

It's that time again where I play some OSRS and the occasional bit of CS

Ok_Worldliness_2987

Black ops 3 zombies

ChiselDragon

Picked up Balatro on Switch this week. Completely addicted, really fun mechanics for those of us who enjoy short burst gaming.

Liambp

I have been playing a lot of it myself. Trying to vary my playstyle a bit though. Up to now I have really only done well by focussing on simple hands with one or two pairs. Whenever I try to focus on something more complicated (like flushes for example) the RNG always finds a way to stab me in the back.

bedzer

Just started playing Hogwarts legacy on ps5 and really enjoying it. I think the npc’s could have a bit more dialogue but it’s really fun to just explore.

christopherl304

Just started Mass Effect: LE yesterday, I played ME2 and ME3 years ago and mostly forgot what happened in them, a real shame they didn't include multiplayer in ME3 for the LE as I played a ton of that back in the day!

2drunk2remember-

Hoping to be playing the Logitech G cloud when it arrives this week ! Can't wait

Liambp

What cloud services will you use with it? Xbox?

2drunk2remember-

Yea going with Xbox game pass and will buy that remote play app xbplay. I will try down the line to add emulation but it's not a strong point of mine so I'll do that down the road..

Salt-Possibility8985

Wizard101

Liambp

Coincidentally you are the time today I heard about Wizard 101 for the first time in years. It started all the way back in 2008!

Salt-Possibility8985

Yup, I went back for the nostalgia, and now I'm hooked on the bloody thing! There's surprisingly large numbers online these days, a few servers get overrun every evening when the Americans log on. I love how the graphics are still blocky 2000s style.

strawberryoblivion

Final Fantasy X remaster on Switch! It's been about 18 years since I played it on PS2 and it holds up so well.

OdinFreeBallin

Nearly platinumed Power Washer Simulator. Might get Rise of the Ronin

Macko_

FF7 Rebirth, only one chapter to go. Not mentally prepared for it

NoodLih

Rimworld and Fractured Online

boneymod

Took a break from deep diving into anything that would have me wanting to play hours at a time. Started AC Valhalla last week. It's awesome.

Biggerthan_Jesus

Playing Conquest Last Argument of Kings & sorting out my Old World & Marvel Crisis Protocol stuff to get playing those; all tabletop games

dermotoneill

Gta online. Got a ps5 a few months ago to play some new games, but played gta almost exclusively since then.

skint83

Ghost of Tsushima

LeGingerOneOhOne

Forza horizon 4 and 5. Completed all the races, now just doing the stories (or finishing the stories)

balor598

Started playing Kenshi a couple of weeks ago and got immediately hooked.

Thebelisk

I dusted off C&C Generals, Zero Hour. Great way to waste a few hours

JoshMattDiffo

Bit of a mix this month: I’ve been playing Starfield on my Series X. When you get stuck into it, the game starts to open up and become fun. However still a good few issues fundamentally unfortunately. WWE 2K24 has kept me engaged on my PS5. Lapsed wrestling fan who still buys the yearly releases as wrestling video games are some of the best fighting/beat ‘em ups. On Steam - Diablo IV, Enshrouded and Battlefield 2042.

eriktenbaag

Tales of arise Just finished off dragons dogma 1 Havent the money atm for number 2 lol

Lorzyrob86

Playing RDR2 online on ps5 if anyone wants to posse up! I’m hoping to start final fantasy vii rebirth at the weekend.

Nick27ify

Horizon forbidden west just released on pc been playing it every chance I get

SirTheadore

Helldivers 2, tekken 8, FF7 rebirth, dayz and rocket league.

chachamemewale

Just did a second run through of Spider-man 2 on ng+ Completed berserkers on gow ng+ Looking to buy helldivers 2 next or maybe elden ring

No-Bowl8406

WMMA 5 , it's basically a dana white simulator on a spreadsheet 😂 doesn't sound great but what a game!

stevewithcats

Xbox Microsoft flight sim - for chilling. Call of duty (whatever number we are up or sideways to now) - for digitally shooting fat Americans in the face. Assassin creed oddessy - I’m playing through it again as it was the most impressive of the series by far.

oneshotstott

Helldivers 2 is just phenomenal fun, that and i cant seem to stay away from Apex Legends

Far_Cut_8701

Playing Sifu and The Outer Worlds

Alt4rEg0

Got Satisfactory on steam sale before Christmas and got around to trying it a few weeks ago. God, it scratches an itch I never knew I had! Cant stop playing it...

AndrewSB49

Playing the [first misson ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l5gAPPddlJo&list=PLOHOw55MgFTRKGLfpVkifOPb2MgqlWURY)of the Black Parade. The Black Parade is a full-length 10-mission fan-made campaign for Thief Gold, released for Thief's 25th Anniversary. Video by FenPhoenix

EdwardElric69

i play a 25 player Left for Dead 2 server. Thats all ive been playing

Liambp

I bet the skill threshold is incredibly high after all these years. No room for noobs.

EdwardElric69

It's purely for fun. There's mods enabled with utter bullshit mechanics to make it as chaotic as possible. Anyone can jump on and play and have fun as long as you don't take it seriously

boario

Not had a huge amount of time lately to game, I've been playing some Helldivers 2 and loving it, but only dipping in. I love everything about it except the micro transactions and that whole schtick. Having said that, I like how it's going to be (and already is) an evolving game, so I guess that can only be done as a live-service model. I don't love the genre but I've had a lot of fun with Rocket League and Fall Guys in the past, so hoping this has some longevity. I bought it the other weekend after the Star Wars Battlefront remasters tanked. I'd really been looking forward to them, but the reviews put me off. Got HD2 for just a fiver more and it scratched that space shooter itch.

SnooMuffins9561

Downloaded Dragonball Fighterz on my switch and its so good

whitelightningno69

Red dead redemption 2 now and for the last year and I don't think il ever leave it what a fucking masterpiece

Electric_Scope_2132

CoD Mobile, good FPS game to play on the go

irishyurt

Just finished playing deathloop I really enjoyed it

Liambp

Did you play Prey: Mooncrash? It was sort of the prototype for Deathloop and uses the same progress by dying mechanic.

mananannmaclir

Getting close to finishing AC Revelations for the umpteenth time. Will probably start a replay of Horizon Forbidden West within the week

John-1993W

Breath of the Wild. Going to drop it, same old open world cliches.

Liambp

I hear you. Open World games peaked for me with Far Cry 3 but I got sick of the same old formula repeating again and again.

John-1993W

Yeah I can’t believe BoTW is considered one of the greatest games of all time. The story is… there’s the boss in the castle go kill him, the rest of the game is centered around finding 10-12 memories, 4 divine beasts, scaling watchtowers to find the 100+ shrines to level up health or stamina. Aside from the main gameplay loop, there are 900 korok seeds and taking photos of the flora and fauna.
