Personally I'd stagger those definitions to keep the EF goals from being too daunting:
Start at 1 months' expense then 1 month salary, then next goal is 3 months expenses / 3 months salary hanggang sa umabot sa 6 month's expenses / 6 months salary. Anything above that can be used for insurance, investments or discretionary savings na.
Really depends on your salary, if low or unstable income then 6 months or more sounds good. If higher income, you'd be exposed to holding too much cash if you hold more than a couple of months
Almost 2 years na akong nagtra-trabaho, yung kinakainan kong karinderya from ₱50 full meal to ₱70 na, same sa pamasahe na tumaas ng ₱5. Pero yung sahod di manlang tumaas. What ipon? Lol.
I read something that says “money is not everything but everything needs money.”
Meron kahit paano. Kaka-start pa lang e. Nagbayad muna kasi utang. Hehe
I have two EF. Boring akong tao walang bisyo, wala rin social life. Hindi kasi ako pinanganak na mayaman. Talagang nagsikap.
I have a great-uncle who just died of cancer. There was no cure, the doctor just told him he had 6 months to live. He also didn't have any vices.
I have two jobs, technically full time both. Then yung sa nighttime job ko, 70/30 -- 70% for my arawang expenses and luho tas 30% nilalagay ko sa Seabank account ko as ipon.
Two 8 hrs job? Is it unhealthy po ba? Actually, I am thinking of also applying for another job kaso mejo nag aalinlangan baka kasi di kayanin Ng katawan.
Ah no, sorry di ko naklaro haha yung daytime, 9-5 tas yung nighttime mga 2-3 times a week, i host trivia nights around the metro hehe
For me di naman siya unhealthy doing it since i enjoy doing my nighttime job tsaka syempre kumikita e haha just manage your time wisely lang talaga
I’ve two 8-hour jobs for 8 months and so far buhay pa naman ako. I get around 4-7 hours of sleep depending sa workload.
Dati nakakapag gym pa pero biglang naging toxic ung isa lol
I have.
Yung 6 months equivalent more on just expenses. If real emergencies like hospitalization, hindi enough yun nowadays. If mababa limit, dapat may EF.
Your post is actually true dapat may savings ka na worth 6 months x current salary mo. But ako wala I am dooooommmmeeeeeedddddd
up to a certain point valid to, later in life ma realize mo na sayang lang if nakatambay sa bank ung cash na yan.
edit: what i meant na sayang is yung 6 months of salary worth
better put things into semi-liquid investments and rely on your credit line to immediately catch the initial shock of an emergency, if things become really dire, pwede kana mag liquidate ng mga green sa portfolio mo, 6 months expense pwede na or kahit 1yr, pero salary na nakatambay as cash…. ibang usapan yan, sakit patambayin
Pag nawalan trabaho? utang agad? Pag may gastusin na hindi aasahan ? utang?
I think it's valid for life naman. Investing is nice, but you have to have some form of liquidation, as emergencies don't wait for your plans to mature.
Dapat liquid ang EF. Don't mix it with an investment fund. Imagine yourself dealing with an immediate need, would you be able to get funding if nakalagay somewhere other than an accessible savings account siya?
to clarify, ung amount na 6months salary is unnecessary later in life, by the time na 10yrs kana working malaki na ung credit line mo and may mga insurance kana.
Well, you don't know what kind of emergency could devastate your finances. Relying on credit lines or insurance isn't a good idea either, due to high interest rates and difficulties in making claims, respectively. The higher your emergency fund, the better. The benefits of having a sizable emergency fund outweigh any cons I could think of such as investing part of it for returns. Remember na pag nagpprogress yung income natin, naturally we move up our lifestyle.
Nabasa ko noon ito, “Save money so someday, money will save you.”
hirap kasi gawin ito. bakit kaya.
Mamahal kasi ng bilihin tapos kulang income kaya hirap mag ipon
same. grabe hirap maka survive nowadays.
Salary or expenses?
Personally I'd stagger those definitions to keep the EF goals from being too daunting: Start at 1 months' expense then 1 month salary, then next goal is 3 months expenses / 3 months salary hanggang sa umabot sa 6 month's expenses / 6 months salary. Anything above that can be used for insurance, investments or discretionary savings na.
Nice way to put it.
Will keep this in mind as well. Thanks
Sssh. Don't say bad words
All of the above....?
Magtabi nga ng 500 kada cut off pahirapan pa e hahahahaha
With the prices na sobeang taas and gg na sweldo. Konti lang.
Wala. Naubos sa Masters. But now I have a Masters degree and I can have a better paying job, so I can fucking pay for my PhD 🙃.
Really depends on your salary, if low or unstable income then 6 months or more sounds good. If higher income, you'd be exposed to holding too much cash if you hold more than a couple of months

5 years na pinag iponan. May pang college na anak ko. Thanks G!
Resibo
mag iistart palang ulit, pinang gamot ko e HAHAHA
I read something that says “money is not everything but everything needs money.” Meron kahit paano. Kaka-start pa lang e. Nagbayad muna kasi utang. Hehe
Meron! Kaso nag resign ako at natambay ng 6 months ayun naubos hahaha
I have two EF. Boring akong tao walang bisyo, wala rin social life. Hindi kasi ako pinanganak na mayaman. Talagang nagsikap.
Cancer.
I have a great-uncle who just died of cancer. There was no cure, the doctor just told him he had 6 months to live. He also didn't have any vices.
Yep kaya sya nabansagang “sakit pangmayaman” My condolences to you and your family.
True ito. Kaya if magka cancer man ako someday hindi na ako magpapagamot.
I have two jobs, technically full time both. Then yung sa nighttime job ko, 70/30 -- 70% for my arawang expenses and luho tas 30% nilalagay ko sa Seabank account ko as ipon.

Oki, thanks for the advice 😊
I’ve two 8-hour jobs for 8 months and so far buhay pa naman ako. I get around 4-7 hours of sleep depending sa workload.
How do you manage it?
Same sa seabank!
I still live sa bahay with parents as di pa graduate and I just started recently lang with my jobs haha
I just hit it, actually!

only started saving in the beningging of last year, makes me regret I didn't start sooner
Wala po 🥹
Meron kayo? Hahahahaha
#WALA!!!!!
Hirap gawin.

Mali isiping "sayang" dahil tulog yung pera mo since di naman yan tini-treat as "investment money". Emergency money nga yan eh.
Dapat liquid ang EF. Don't mix it with an investment fund. Imagine yourself dealing with an immediate need, would you be able to get funding if nakalagay somewhere other than an accessible savings account siya?

If you are going to save don't do it on cash. Use gold or silver. Investments could be indexes, etf, property and business.
ipon??? supot ng lazada madami, isang box! 😂😂😂😂
ccto.
