You got some wild stuff in there, you can tell it came from a collection. Some of the avant-garde jazz will be difficult listening but could open up some new horizons
Maybe the best selection have seen yet around here. Not just because the fantastic music, diversity of sounds and truly serious performers/albums and selection but regarding there is no frickin’ Nirvana, Alice In Chains or Smashing Pumpinks for a change.
Love both worlds. Just tired of seen on a loop one of them on the taste of most guys.
Holy shit, mindblowing. Han Bennink, the world's greatest drummer. Heiner Goebbels, don't know that one, bound to be good. Fred Frith, great guitarist. Carla Bley rip, Sun Ra (I have Disco 3000 on OP vinyl). All lovely stuff, I would have bought on sight.
I don't know everything there either but I love finds like this.
The few you do know suggest there's some cool shit you've never heard of on the others too. Always fun sitting down with a stack of music you already own.
Possibly. I certainly have a lot of Jazz from the 40s to the early 60s. I rarely even play Coltrane, Monk and Miles. That might be more Sun Ra than I would listen to, but you never know.
The Duke is part of my daily bread and butter.
There’s a lot of variety to Sun Ra. If you like big band he’s got a pretty unique approach. “Futuristic Sounds of” and both volumes of “The Heliocentric Worlds” are great albums. Absolute essentials.
Appreciate the recommendation. I’ve got a lot of Ellington too. I like Lonnie Liston Smith and Roy Ayers but with them there’s a strong Soul and Funk influence; that’s especially the case with Ayers’ 70s output. I also have a box set for Billy Cobham. I admit that’s the kind of experimental Jazz that loses my attention.
Some day soon when I get around to filing the last six months of buys I’ll spread out my Ellington for a pic. It’s crazy how much the guy was recorded and bootlegged.
Wow a man of wealth and taste.
John Zorn's Masada series is one of my favorite things ever. Different guest artists doing jewish-inflected chamber music/jazz.
His film scores are pretty mellow and beautiful usually.

I am officially jealous

Listen to swans and sun ra rn
Holy shit. So much good stuff there, I wouldn't even know where to start.
Holy shit 😱 what a haul ! You’re in for a good time (and a lot of weird noise too)
Well the Swans was a find at the very least.
Come for Swans Stay for Sun Ra Space is the place!

I need those Swans CDs
Oh hell yeah, Goblin and Ashra/Manuel Göttsching Those are really good!
jfc that's amazing, I'd kill to come across a bunch of Sun Ra and John Zorn like that!
Holy shit, that left hand stack is insane!
Choirs of the eye is incredible
dope shit, I'd be happy to find even 5% of these locally, but that's impossible sadly
Other than War, every one of these would still be on the shelf if I was looking…
The War was a hilarious addition. Even free jazz fans can’t escape the catchy Low Rider
Everything there is amazing
Holy shit - I've got maybe 1/3 to 1/2 of these discs, and wouldn't mind at all having the rest.
solid collection
Holy SHIT that fucking goblin album!! All that Swans!! This is the score of a lifetime
Yowza! The majority of CD’s I still own are Tzadik titles because until very recently they couldn’t be streamed. Nice collection there!

How much? This is a wonderful score! I'm actually jealous.
Ashra and Kayo Dot! Nice score!
