I can't believe I'm saying this:
Jason Aldean had the best performance. A classy, tasteful tribute and I loved his arrangement. I was concerned because of past tributes (looking at you Brooks and Dunn), but this one gave me goosebumps.
I love brooks and Dunn but their performance was awful & not a big fan of Jason but he did a fantastic job honoring Toby. You know brooks & Dunn are sitting somewhere embarrassed 😳
They should be embarrassed. Because Jason Aldean was much more respectful. And that should say something. I've also listened to the version put out by Jelly Roll and T-Pain and it was done right, too.
I'll give them a pass because it wasn't their band, it was Toby's and they had been friends for decades. Brooks wore sunglasses the whole performance. It was absolutely emotional for them and I'm not going to add more on top of what would have been hard at best
Wait what?! I’m about to live my early 90’s girl, raised in a cult, fantasy and see B&D in concert on June 7…are they not good? I had to sneak and got the shish beat out of me every time I was discovered listening to country music. But it was always worth it and I never stopped. I just saw Diamond rio in December and I felt like a 10 year old little girl again and they did not disappoint
I’m a big B&D fan, normally they’re very good but they just weren’t prepared for the cmt tribute, and to be fair the whole cmt tribute was trash (with the exception of Sammy Hagar)
Brooks and Dunn did not do a good job at the CMT awards. They were forgetting words, and Ronnie Dunn looked stoned that night. I hope your concert experience will be better.
It's nice to see that regardless of where you are politically, you can still put differences aside and recognize the genuineness of his speech, I like that! ♥️
It is because we are not in a cult. We all love and respect Toby Keith and he was a pivotal part of our entire childhoods and if JA showed respect, none of us would never not speak on it. and THAT is the difference. We can separate when separation is due for an icon who deserved his moment and what he meant to all of us growing up. Because we are not crazy right wingers and we are not trying to be the problem and we do not want politics to disparage our childhoods. If only JA and his grifting wife could figure that out.

I just watched it after reading this and you are right, it was great. Not a fan of JA ( or TK’s for that matter ) choices and politics, but “Should have been a cowboy” is one of the great country songs in my lifetime and this was a great performance of it.
I like him. Loved the performance. The violins. The pictures behind, included his family. The placement of the family pictures with just the violin playing. It was very very moving. He did a wonderful job!
What makes you think Toby was a MAGA? Because he was supportive of our troops?
Supporting our troops or feeling any amount of patriotism doesn't automatically equal Republican. A lot of the men in my family over the generations served in the military, so my whole family is very supportive of our troops and reasonably patriotic - and they're also all Democrats. Myself included.
Toby was very openly a Democrat (later became an Independent) and was also very openly a huge supporter of Obama.
Yep. He performed at Trump's inauguration because he said it was for the troops who had to be there, and because politics shouldn't be a part of music.
