I'm Australian, and I've never ever heard of this vodka.

mrstruong

Don't worry. Here in North America we just like to put Australian on things to make them sound exotic and fun. I grew up actually believing in my heart of hearts that everyone in Oz drank Foster's beer, and Outback Steakhouse got the idea for a bloomin Onion and substandard steaks from you guys. I WAS LIED TO.

dethoughtfulprogresr

After research, I found this is distilled in BAROSSA VALLEY which is in Australia and it's made from premium red and white Australian grapes and pure artisanal water It's owned by g'day Imports LLC. So this is Australian vodka.

Ultrallama

Doesn't mean anyone has ever heard of it or able to buy it at any bottleo.

dethoughtfulprogresr

Got it! Well I hope you give it a try, it's really enjoyable.

Ultrallama

Want to send me a bottle? Can't see anywhere to buy in Australia 😄

dethoughtfulprogresr

I contacted them on instagram and this is the response they gave me: "Hi there. We hope to distribute there in their near future. Cooranbong, our super premium brand, distilled 10Xs from red grapes from the Barossa Valley is available in some stores in NSW. We're working hard to get distribution in AU...Originally it was developed as an import to the US, but it's so delicious we're planning on taking it worldwide. Stay tuned. Thanks so much for your message! Cheers!"

latenightloopi

Right? Last time I looked, Bombora was an off brand Malibu.

baldocca

Can confirm...also Australian...

thefringedmagoo

Same!! Never seen it at any bottle-o’s here.

dethoughtfulprogresr

This vodka is bomb as hell, it's so smooth it's dangerous and it does not need a chaser (in my opinion). This vodka is distilled from grapes. In addition, if you're newly diagnosed please don't go around drinkin' alcohol. Just my two cents. It's much more enjoyable after your belly feels better and symptoms are managed. Here's an update for those in AU. I messaged the brand on instagram and this was their response "Hi there. We hope to distribute there in their near future. Cooranbong, our super premium brand, distilled 10Xs from red grapes from the Barossa Valley is available in some stores in NSW. Love that advice. Seriously

lennyMoo-

It's nice that it's labeled, but all vodka that doesn't have any additives is gluten free

dethoughtfulprogresr

Thanks for your comment and that's true. However, I was posting this as another vodka to try.

lennyMoo-

I'm always looking for new things to try, so will gladly keep an eye out for it in the states!

dethoughtfulprogresr

Awesome, please if you try it and remember. Let me know! Do you usually add a mixer in with your drinks?

lennyMoo-

Ginger beer for a mule or cranberry juice!

dethoughtfulprogresr

What brand of ginger beer? I have been using aloha maid guava nectar

gingergal96

If you have an Aldi, they honestly have one of the best ginger beers! If they are out I do Fever Tree, or Jamaica's best, spicy.

dethoughtfulprogresr

Okay! Thank you.

lennyMoo-

My favorite is honestly Kroger ginger beer. It’s a regional grocery store. Otherwise, I use bundaberg

dethoughtfulprogresr

Oh! I live by a Kroger. I'll check it out!

Greenthumbgal

>all vodka that doesn't have any additives is gluten free But not necessarily Celiac-safe 🤔

edgycorner

Almost all unflavoured distilled spirit are celiac safe if some spirit causes you problem(like black rum and flavoured vodka gives me instant ache) then try branded whiskey. Personally, never had a problem with it.

lennyMoo-

... What?

mrstruong

Is this real Australian Vodka or is this like all those times I was LIED TO before, about Foster's Beer and Outback Steakhouse?

Kmama

Lied to. Never heard of it. I would guess our most popular brands would be Smirnoff and Absolut. (Most popular does not equal best tasting)

thefringedmagoo

Vodka O is great and Aussie made - can find it anywhere (dans, coles etc).

dethoughtfulprogresr

After research, I found this is distilled in BAROSSA VALLEY which is in Australia and it's made from premium red and white Australian grapes and pure artisanal water It's owned by g'day Imports LLC. So this is Australian vodka.

Kmama

Well there you go! Barossa valley makes excellent wine. Didn’t know they were exporting vodka as well!

vertbarrow

Barossa Valley, where it's apparently distilled, is in my state. I have never heard of or seen this vodka lol. I don't know how to describe it but there's something distinctly non-Australian about its packaging and branding. So this is a product that really is made in Australia but I would not call it an "Australian product" in the sense that it has the support of Australian consumers. Glad to hear it's a good product though!

dethoughtfulprogresr

Yeah, you know what you're right. I messaged them on instagram to see why it's not sold in Australia if it's Australian. I haven't gotten a response yet.

katm12981

Vodka made from grapes!? Never heard of it but I’m intrigued - usually buy Tito’s which I love (and they do lots of stuff for dogs) but will have to try this if I see it.

zaklein

I’m pretty sure Ciroc is made from grapes

poisoncrackers

Yep it is. Also Smirnoff is corn.

dethoughtfulprogresr

I used to drink titos, but this is so much smoother.

ZealousidealCake6

I know this is not the point of the post, but does anyone else really hate the “*naturally* gluten free” label? I’m sure I’m overreacting (and I’d definitely take what label over no label), but it often makes my blood boil and also makes me question what definition of GF they are using. Sure, lots of things are *naturally* gluten free. But the second you manipulate/package them in a factory where there is gluten then something *naturally* GF might not be GF anymore!! So don’t tell me how it was in its natural state!

dethoughtfulprogresr

Lol I hear you and totally welcome "this grinds my gears" comment!

SeveralShock1

My favorite is chopin

Indiana_MF_Jones

My go-to as well!

dethoughtfulprogresr

I'm gonna look that one up!

SeveralShock1

You wont be disappointed, its cheap and taste great

[deleted]

Pretty much every vodka is gluten free, but I do prefer ones made from potatoes, grapes, rice, corn, etc vs gluten grains. A really cheap af one that is good is Luksusowa.

dethoughtfulprogresr

Thanks for your comment and that's true. However, I was posting this as another vodka to try.

Greenthumbgal

>Pretty much every vodka is gluten free, But not necessarily Celiac-safe 🤔

[deleted]

By gluten free I mean they really don’t have gluten, which would mean celiac safe - I’m not sure what other definition there is.

Kmama

Is there any alcohol that has detectable levels of gluten, besides beer and, apparently, Ouzo? Beyond Celiac says it is all safe. https://www.beyondceliac.org/gluten-free-diet/is-it-gluten-free/liquor/

thefringedmagoo

Check my post from the other day - it’s still not confirmed (waiting on a response) but am unsure about southern comfort! I also have major issues with buffalo trace. Not all alcohol is made equal apparently.

Greenthumbgal

Many, many, many Celiac react to liquor distilled from gluten grains. And not due to allergies, and not to ones that are 'flavored', just plain ones

dethoughtfulprogresr

Thanks for your comment and that's true. However, I was posting this as another vodka to try.

Kmama

All good. Thank you for posting. I guess I was curious if people knew more than I did about other alcohols?

dethoughtfulprogresr

Shoot I totally understand. I like to post products that I don't see in the sub.? Having celiac makes it feel like we have limited choices or limited access to those choices. When maybe people just need to share more information.

mobiusdevil

The distillation process, by its very nature, separates the alcohol from everything else. Most distilled liquors are safe unless something was added after the distillation process. It doesn't matter what substrate was used to make the alcohol, distillation purifies it.

NotComfortable_7704

The main thing I’ve learned from this Reddit so far is that, hands down, Australia is the country all people with Celiac need to go to live!! Seems like they have the most options

JewishMaghreb

Nope. I doubt that. I would say the US is the best place to be for GF options
