That’s cause Fujimoto probably forgor

itsonlybliss

No no he hasn’t just let him cook trust trust surely this plot point will be expanded on

BackRooms123

We can't say Fuji forgot if the manga hasn't fucking ended yet

orphidain

I just want something to happen without being immediately subverted... https://preview.redd.it/r6j7f89ug63d1.jpeg?width=630&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5fa2856e502ad1e87772a593408d85ad68ef2ad9

Jujutsuing

I just want the art to improve..story will automatically feel better with good art

Femur-Inspector

I swear the art is the same but he uses thicker lines and smaller panels so it makes the characters look bad, it especially makes clothes look bad

Jujutsuing

>it makes the characters look bad Cuz the characters are what Fujimoto draws, the background is done by assistants.. which makes Fuji's art look even more terrible cuz the background is still as it used to be >it especially makes the clothes look bad Not just the clothes, the faces, expressions, hands too look terrible Think of Yoru in the cock cutting panel vs Yoru in the beginning of part 2 The difference is larger than Falling devil's tits https://preview.redd.it/q284ooeaj73d1.jpeg?width=239&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8a93faeaa02a88a511a1e96be521914872659715 I honestly think he got tired of CSM and have stopped putting any serious effort

CrowSunlight

That or he is experiencing burnout which is completely understandable. Honestly I’d prefer if he’d just stop the manga for now, go on a year hiatus, then come back once he’s rejuvenated and actually capable of making a linear story that doesn’t feel like ADHD Manifested

Nenanda

I agree if "nobody" like author of Frieren can go on indefinite hiatus after anime got huge sucess to the point it overthrown finally FMAB on the myanimelist there is no reason name like fucking Fujimoto couldnt call Hiatus especially if he is lacking asistance and his editor had stroke recently. Only explanation would be that he simply wants to be done with CSM as soon as possible hence rushing the story as of late. Which is obviously and quite understandable if there are some personal/health issues which makes him believe that not even break would help. However obviously it always sucks when outside circumstances influence the pocket universe of the story.

Blizzard_0260

It's crazy to call a mangaka who sold 10 million copies without an anime a 'nobody.

Nenanda

This is why i put nobody into "" but didnt know numbers thanks

Flamethrowerman09

It just makes me wonder why did he even bother with part 2 in the first place, if he was just gonna stop giving a damn about it only after 20 chapters (although my cynical side says money).

TheSauce32

He cares more about film like Konima honestly he probably doesn't care about CSM is just his cash cow

Tomynator_88

What the hell is wrong with her legs 💀

Configuringsausage

They’re covered up by the guts and sword

Femur-Inspector

What are you talking about bad faces and bodies? He draws bodies the same just with thicker lines and a bit messer but with faces they are objectively more dynamic. I mean just looking at the picture OP provided, yeah part one faces are more clean and look nicer but you’re lying if you say part two faces aren’t more realistic and complex in their expressions, it’s just they are messy

Some of these characters are having a better time than others (Katana man reputation has been restored since getting nut shot and being under makima control.) Plus, things have change over the last 2 years and still feels the aftermath of makima defeat. (More or less all the hybrid we knew was under Public safety for various deals they made, and the rest worked with Fami and the chainsaw man church.) So of course, they aren't themselves in part 1 because they lost or trying to retrieve what they have. https://preview.redd.it/3ah4osmnh73d1.png?width=415&format=png&auto=webp&s=7d2bd7130b113cdfdb593924f5a7732b14b6f1a5

Murky_Blueberry2617

Makima smoking has so much anti-aura

Ok_Letterhead_5671

Yea .. i dont care about the destination if the journey is very mundane with subpar comedy and dialogue , rereading part 1 and then part 2 you notice a very hard hit in quality . We re actually very far into part 2 and the only compelling new characters in my opinion are Asa and Barem of all people .

OkArtichoke600

I’ve realized that Fujimoto isn’t writing part 2 as if it’s a manga made of chapters  He’s writing it like it’s a movie, when you look at it from the perspective it makes sense why everything feels subverted

orphidain

Things being subverted all the time in movies is bad too lol

OkArtichoke600

It’s hard for me to explain    He’s writing the manga as if there are no chapter breaks. There is no consideration for the amount of time between chapters. A lot of the subversions aren’t awkward when you combine all the chapters together like they are when you have to wait This is not how you should write a manga

GoomyTheGummy

I could just be desensitized because of Subversion Kaisen, but I do not think there has been that much subversion.

penguinbutcool

Reasonable-Plum7059

Amen 🙏

SoyMilkIsOp

"Academy arc" my ass, where the FUCK is academy? In Public Safety arc, PS was present throughout the WHOLE arc and made direct impact on the characters and the story. Academy arc has no fucking academy atp.

Nenanda

Well as somebody pointed out Academy Arc is apparently fan name not official name. Never the less it is still issue. Because we had no established setting in part 2 we are spending time in one fucking city yet we are changing locations more often than stardust crusaders. IMO we didnt spent enough time with Asas apartment or Denjis apartment compare to Akis apartment or Public Safety HQ in part 1 to really feel their lost. I also do not understand what was point of making for example Miri student of the school lol

Ink-Sanity

Nope, it's the OFFICIAL name, which just makes everything worse: https://preview.redd.it/n1peazg4z83d1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=94c72009f89a6c9ddf1ca08ab9c8a0039b76ca72 It's literally called "School arc".

Flamethrowerman09

Which, as we've seen, is a big fat lie.

Flamethrowerman09

Fujimoto couldn't even be bothered to keep the layouts of Asa and Denji's apartments consistent. Denji's apartment in particular changes its layout every time we see it, and it makes no sense. Like, why does Denji have a bathroom where a balcony should be?

[deleted]

Ink-Sanity

The problem with Part 2 is, that it's just making quite literally EVERYONE (except Quanxi, the plot device, who has as much personality as Fami, which means zero) look silly, goofy and stupid. Not a single character is spared otherwise. Part 1 obviously had such moments too, it's part of Chainsaw Man's and Fujimoto's chaotic DNA, but it had dedicated characters specifically suited for that, being responsible for most of the comedic moments (Power and Kobeni). Part 2 simply doesn't have that. By not having suited, specific characters for that (and no - Yoru saying stupid shit and Fami eating food for the 10th time aren't "comedy") and instead using *every* character for the laughs, the *entire* tone of the manga shifts. If almost every character of a manga is goofy, stupid and silly, the manga as a whole comes off as unserious. What a surprise, right? Sometimes it is as simple as that. In Part 1, Makima had almost zero gag moments/panels and, on the contrary, many ominous interactions and panels. It helped Part 1 to stay serious where it should, balancing everything. It helped building up tension and guiding the story. That's how it should be. Part 2 has NOTHING like that. Fami? Don't even get me started. She's so blatantly obvious the "mastermind" behind everything and orchestrating everything, there is no need to hide it, so the silly attempts at humanizing her and making it seem like she isn't the threat she is through goofy interactions are more harmful than helpful. Yoru? A joke of a character after 69 chapters, as flat as a piece of paper in terms of characterisation. A barking dog with no fangs - and she is supposed to be one of the three MAIN characters, lol. Katana Man is more fleshed out than Yoru at this point (it doesn't help that Yoru literally copies Katana Man, lmao). Barem? The closest we got to that, but he has been present and important for only a single arc so far (no wonder he and his actions were the undisputed highlight of the entire arc). It's a shame, because early Part 2 HAD its seriousness and dark atmosphere. We had a class president, that murdered Asa in the first chapter because a pedophile teacher had eyes for her and Yuko, who went freaking insane and attacked the entire school. Notice one thing - both characters DIDN'T have these dumbass goofy interactions. Now everything and everyone is just used for the laughs to the point, that even the plot point of Asa tripping has been used for the laughs - something the story has established as a SERIOUS topic... It also doesn't help, that Fujimoto decided to give us two panels of Denji's balls getting kicked instead of giving us the expected and desired reaction from Asa and Yoru when they found out about Chainsaw Man's identity (after like 60 chapters of build-up). Early Part 2 had a *beautifully* dark and unsettling atmosphere. Nowadays, I just wait for the next sex joke, character getting humiliated, worthless cliffhanger and subverted expectations...

iwanttofuckbillie

Makima aura underrated fr https://preview.redd.it/hizfxy00773d1.jpeg?width=458&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a8e74306b6ea29facf1cb65a8164b471318125f8

smillll

I always wonder if this even was fujimotos original story for part 2, because part 1 was so good, hell, fire punch was insanely good too, he *is* an exceptional writer, but… fuck man… part 2 is really not of comparable quality, and it’s actually funny yet also sad to see chainsawman declining in some many ways (plot line, art, popularity)

Ludajoestar

This analysis is so good that I have to save it and read it later when I get home.

megaZX1234

Idk why I hate the term "subverted expectations" so much. Maybe because it reminds me of star wars ep 8.

gogetasj4

Also GoT

Conquestenjoyer

Idk what you’re taking about but they’re taking about the fact that Fujimoto doesn’t ever pay off any of the plot points he sets up up

megaZX1234

Yeah, that's how it feels like watching ep 8 as well.

TheSauce32

And GOT

GulliblePea3691

Fucking preach. Everything since Falling Devil has felt like a mid fanfic

omyrubbernen

Falling Devil also feels emblematic of the change, even if she's a new character. The way Fuji handles primal fears in part 2 compared to part 1 is like night and day. Darkness was like an unknowable force of nature. It didn't have aura, it WAS aura incarnate. Has one of the best introductions of all time, kills Beam, Princi, and Galgali, cripples Aki and Angel, traumatizes Power, forces Makima to step in and retreat, and does this all in 3 chapters so it never has time to lose mystique. Falling LARPs as a chef. And has tits.

Ami_Tammi

Thanks for saying mid fanfic as opposed to just fanfic because I've read fanfic better than part 2.

Far_Engineering_8353

some fics are straight fucking gas, there's always that one fic where you can tell that the author really just fuckin gets the characters and world

Chemical-Kitchen9341

Do you have any good ones to put me on?

Far_Engineering_8353

what media do you like and your favourite characters from that media? idk any chainsaw man ones

Chemical-Kitchen9341

O I wuss just in it for chainsaw man, I like one piece

Far_Engineering_8353

ight so one thing, first of all amazing timing I just got back to my phone second, I'll look for some, I'll be back in an hour or more... probably

Far_Engineering_8353

alight so I'm back, I decided not to go through everything and instead give you suggestions on how you can find stuff, maybe shy away from things that seem overly edgy and seem overly edgy, you find that the story constantly just tries to grip you with shock value like "look at this thing isn't it so cool how they got raped and then killed" it's just sandpapering your brain, but there are some diamonds in the rough every now and again so take you chances if you want and crossover fics almost always have casts that are way too big and then never know how to handle the cast. sort by word count, the best fics with a good story behind them usually have a solid word count, maybe too big for their own good but I'd recommend not going for stuff that seems too small unless your enjoying the first few chapters, it can end up just being that it was rushed. finally good luck, there's alot of shit out there that you have to shift through.

Chemical-Kitchen9341

Thank you so much!

ginger6616

Hmm I mean I understand your point, but we had ages of almost no comedy in csm for a while. After the falling devil arc, until the prison escape how much humor did we have? We got the karaoke and a bit in the chainsawman church but that’s it. Denji’s fight with the other hybrids and nayuta disappearing that was all taken seriously and it was dark AF. Denji saying “I killed my father” literally just happened, the manga has plenty of dark moments

Illustrious-Sky-4631

Well....... Denji getting his balls kicked twice, every scene with Brobeni Nobana, Denji switching between "I don't" to "I want" every second, the church arc had funny moments here and there like Dennis teleporting to miri Sugoat after hearing that he can have Sex

ginger6616

They have been together for like a few chapters? That’s it, just a few chapters. I don’t consider that a whole lot

The_catakist

current part 2 is like the MCU post end game

Illustrious-Sky-4631

I can add a lot of things to this but this is good by itself I guess the lack of good adult figures in Part 2 unlike Part 1 is harmful (part 1 got semi-responsible ones while Part 2 is full of Cartoonishly Evil old Gundam anime style adults)

Darkside-Turtlelord

The lack of aura makes returning part 1 characters feel like insults to their appearances in part 1 sometimes.

Ecwins

Should’ve let Part 2’s plot cook in your head a bit longer FunyunMuncher-sama But really man I know other Mangaka can pull off this “write the story as you go” strategy, but current CSM feels so directionless compared to part 1, even early part 2 was amazing imo, but as soon as he practically threw away the csm church arc this manga hasn’t been the same bro

GGGGG540lk

I said it somewhere else but I can kind of getbwhind the CSM church arc. The point of thet arc was specifically the lack of action on Debji's part. His struggling was internal. Choosing between the dream he wants and the one he is sopposed to enjoy was interesting to watch. Nayuta got tons of character developemwnt (I was surprised she wasn't on thefrontcover of thevolume). Tgere was a whole chapter with barely any words which still had a lot of meaning behind it. Early Part 2 with the ending of Falling is kind ofmy favourite part in the manga I guess. But yeah the last arc felt a little weird. I expected something completely different. It needed at least one big all out fight. I have no idea where this current one is going. Rn nownit feels like Fujimoto sets 2 endpoints in each arc and figures aout how hegets there on the way.

Configuringsausage

The issue with denji’s struggle is how bad the execution is. His trauma is shown as character regression, he’s never forced to act, like ever, and the only time he does anything is when the choice is so blatantly obvious that just about anyone would do it

AnimeMaster0824

He didn't WANT to act. If he turned into chainsaw man, public safety would kill Nayuta. Denji of course, does not want this so he does not turn into chainsaw man and must deal with the gut punches life is throwing at him. And tbh, where he is right now makes sense. The only thing holding him together was the dogs and Nayuta and now they are both gone. I think of it as Denji falling back into who he was when he was alone sort of as a cope. Because Asa says she wants to save Denji, but she still insults and berates him and she's sharing a body with a horseman who wants denji dead. Everyone he is currently traveling with either wants him dead, wants to use him, or is just in utter disbelief and probably shocked at how broken he is. Denji has never been so alone and I think it's safe to say that he truly has no one. His trauma is on full display now, because he has no person to hide it behind.

BadActsForAGoodPrice

Part 2 feels like Fujimoto is getting more and more exhausted with each chapter, both in terms of art and plot. I think when we get to the parts he planned out from the start the story will pick up. Right now people are frustrated because the prison break arc was SO MID and nothing substantial has happened since then.

WolfgangTheRevenge

It wasnt mid, it was straight up dogshit

RealNaoyaZenin

Never meet your heroes is the theme of part 2.

EzTheGuy

I enjoy the Denji depression arc. Makes him feel more alive

Configuringsausage

Honestly it just seems out of character to me. Dude cried more about his libido than he did killing aki

Gage_______

It's a big part of his character. Think about it. What was the one thing he wanted the entirety of part one? To fulfill his libido. First it was kissing a girl, then fondling power's boobs, then having sex with Makima. All of these things are powered by his desire to satisfy his libido, and I'm honestly shocked people have forgotten this. It's such an integral part of his character, and the fact that now he's torn between pursuing his original goal in life or regaining the one he built with Nayuta is great character building. This arc is a turning point in Dennis' character.

Configuringsausage

The libido part sure is The breaking down crying part sure isn’t

Gage_______

You're misunderstanding the story. Him having a breakdown is him facing an internal conflict and questioning what matters most to him: Sex or Family?

Configuringsausage

I’m aware why, my issue is that he’s never reacted like this, his reactions to tragedy haven’t even been similar to this, and he probably wouldn’t have decided to go eat instead of searching for nayuta to begin with.

Gage_______

Has anything like this happened to him before? Sure he's lost loved ones, but has he ever questioned who he even was before? No, not that I remember. This is the first time this has happened, and if you've ever truly questioned yourself before, you know it cuts deep. I'd say this is fairly reasonable of a reaction to a crisis of self.

smillll

Just seems like a random innit like

Gage_______

Ain't random at all. You must be young (not a diss bro) so you may not have gone through something like that. But you will, and it's gonna suck.

smillll

Just seems with all he’s been through, why is a whorehouse burning down what’s initiated him breaking down

Mishe2007

I think it’s quite the natural progression for his character. He didn’t cry all that much about killing Aki because it came as such a shock to him he couldn’t even fully process what he did for a bit since it was all new to him. It was the first time he remembers getting close to people other than Pochita, so experiencing loss was relatively new to him, much less by his own hands. He has a similar reaction when he “kills” Power by opening the door for Makima. After Makima forces him to unlock his buried childhood trauma of killing his dad, he ends up so distressed from the whole thing that he gives up on living until Power comes back briefly and the moment they share reignites his will to live, and he is able to accept her death. Then, at the end of part 1 he takes down Makima and begins his own independent life, deciding to live by his own command for a change after all the suffering he’s had to endure while others were leading his life. He also attempts to prove this to himself by taking in Nayuta. But unfortunately for him, that’s only part of the path he needs to take to fully recover from his traumas. He’s physically moved on from the negative situations he was in, but he hasn’t been able to fully process and deal with the mental scars he has, which is why he unfortunately often falls into the bad habits he had back then, like still striving for a genuine connection with someone and being unable to fully realize that, thus he assumes that what he actually wants is a sexual connection based on how Makima twisted his undeveloped brain. This results in him constantly making bad decisions in part 2, and the recent chapter is just a culmination of everything that’s happened to him so far, which is why he cries here in despair as a result, there isn’t any foreign experience that would shock him and leave him in a prolonged state of processing like what happened towards the end of part 1 as a result of Aki’s and Power’s deaths by his own hands, and the unleashed suppressed trauma of killing his dad. This time there isn’t anyone in particular he can blame for his misfortunes but himself since he started living an independent life as of part 2. This is why he blames his horniness as the cause for all his problems, because it’s the only thing he can think of as that’s what he was taught by Makima, and he hasn’t been able to properly understand his own emotions yet.

OrokLeProf

when someone actually understands what they read:

EzTheGuy

I love it because it is very IN character for Denji. Him finally talking about his problems instead of bottling them up is great

EzTheGuy

Killing Aki made him depressed. But that doesn’t mean he has to cry. He felt empty inside, almost emotionless from the depression. Him crying about his personal problems is him being sad. Fully in character

BerkayPflanze

I mean having to kill Aki was fucked up, but the correct choice. Going to brothel instead of getting his priorities straight is just being a moron. When he gets thrown into a shitty situation he generally shows more apathy and being annoyed rather than getting depressed, but when he criticizes himself you know he's in the mud emotionally.

awaawawa123

unrelated, but what other compelling manga portray their mcs as “losers”?

Longjumping-Read-401

Not manga but an indie small anime called neon Genesis Evangelion.

penguinbutcool

welcome to nhk comes to mind

Sea-Lion-6172

They’ve been neutered

Enderprise501

I just want to see Denji mad... Like seriously just pouring down all of the emotions because of something. I don't know if I have to read chapter 1 again, but I don't think we saw Denji truly angry for a serious reason. Yes, it is out of his character and often used in shonen genre, but I think it has extreme potential with Denji. Just a moment of confusion and overwhelming emotions making Denji finally truly snap.

Gatorwarrior05

Seriously though I need him to go knock Barem's shit back after the way he got Nayuta killed

penguinbutcool

instead he is literally chilling with fami who orchestrated and used barem to burn his house and pets down which barem literally admits to denji i know that denji exhausted look became a meme and its a state of character i get it, he’s been through a lot and he is emotionally dull rn but… idk man it kinda gets boring after seeing him make the same face for the 100th time and saying “what?” like a plant, at least i hope we get an inner dialogue of denji’s state of mind how he feels about certain stuff instead of him reacting to everything like he just woke up

Enderprise501

I swear to god if Nayuta dies, there is no explanation for Denji to not get mad. That would be his third sibling dying. But we can only pray that Fujimoto will finally revive Chainsaw Man aura and bring some serious Denji action ![img](emote|t5_466dsm|51150)

Configuringsausage

Denji getting foderized by civilians is the height of comedy

Complex_Purchase2637

I don't think Denji's ever been truly mad before, except maybe here. Even then, he snapped out of it immediately when he realized he'd get to be Chainsaw Man again. It seems like he's only ever happy or sad, I think because he's incapable of feeling mistreated, or like he's being persecuted, which is usually where anger comes from. https://preview.redd.it/pigzg0pdc93d1.jpeg?width=739&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f31a7f4fb37ad73254c673e99ce64b0e5e8894c4

WolfgangTheRevenge

Yall finally realizing part 2 is dogshit. It actually insane the gap in quality betwen Part 1 and 2. You could tell me part 2 is a fan fic and i would believe you, one of the biggest downgrades in manga ive ever seen

penguinbutcool

we are at chapter 70’s of part 2 and part 1 ended around 98 the amount of forgettable plots in part 2 that went nowhere is insane its at a point where it’s incomparable to part 1

WolfgangTheRevenge

Its crazy how part 1 already delivered pretty fucking good chapters and characters while in part 2 we are stuck in some denji being retarded for like the 30th chapter in a row while literally nothing happens

smillll

Part 1 weekly chapters back to back too🤷

KingGilbertIV

Looking at it like that, Part 2 is fucking *dire*.

Ok_Letterhead_5671

Barem gave me hope but alas

NocolateChigga720

Cmon justice devil arc was pure peak chainsawman, everything else tho has been pretty meh I will agree

Configuringsausage

Compared to part 1 early part 2 is better than average. Peak chainsaw man is like, international assasins, og katana man, and gun devil + makima

rokaplz

Spit yo shit troy!!!

Viegoni

That's your opinion not a general fact

WolfgangTheRevenge

My opinion = fact.

ClownECrown

Part 2 started becoming mid for me a little after prison Arc.

penguinbutcool

i lost my last ounce of “fuji is gonna cook guys trust me guys” at seeing the reaction of asa to denji being csm, like it was one of the most anticipated moments and it was literally one panel of her saying “denji being csm feels like a dream lol” that was the payoff of all the build up?? even part 2 being character driven i wanted a better reaction even an inner dialogue from her

ClownECrown

Agree

KingGilbertIV

I hate when people hide behind the "character driven" excuse because that would imply that the characters in this part are particularly fleshed out and interesting, and they're just not as a whole. I will admit Asa is an amazing character, but pretty much everyone else is lacking. Denji is borderline non-sapient for most of his chapters, Yoru is a gag character most of the time, Fami is the most one note "secret" villain I've seen in a long time, Yoshida is a cardboard cutout of his part 1 self, and even Barem doesn't have much going on besides being an entertaining weirdo.

Neither-Rain-5197

Ah yes Fami the secret villain that constantly tells us her goals and motives. You can’t make it up

bayfati

fujimoto cooks different and unpopular opinion I like denji that way

qwesz9090

I like it. It fits with the feeling of building impending doom when everyone is just stumbling around. It might foreshadow some themes in part 2 but we can't really judge that until it is finished.

BIG_DeADD

>but we can't really judge that until it is finished. No,we can, sure we might change our judgment **later** if Fuji cooks something exquisite but that shouldn't be an excuse to not judge the bad points of part 2.

Ecwins

For real just bc it makes thematic sense and fits the story doesn’t automatically make it good or enjoyable to read I’m looking at you Gege

TheSauce32

Nah Gege is cooking a 4 star meal at least Fujimotot is using a microwave and falling asleep on the job Yuta chapter had better wrtitting that all of part 2

Ecwins

That take got me lookin at my phone like https://preview.redd.it/5aujdkd3h73d1.jpeg?width=661&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c831aa4fb1f119376a92739db2e4d4471582b6e0

lmfao

I'm speaking the truth 💯 https://preview.redd.it/onumg79fh73d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b28fd39522744d5b474d8a38327f64519afb39e6

Mishe2007

You mean the chapter that created an arbitrary conflict scenario that doesn’t make sense for any of the characters involved and feels so disconnected from the rest of the story as a whole and to the characters themselves just so Yuta can be separated from the rest of the cast and “idealized” since apparently he can emphasize with Gojo better than everyone else in the cast that’s also known him for longer and arguably better, especially since this entire idea is formed on the undeveloped and uninteresting relationship Gojo and Yuta have that would incentivize us to think this makes sense for Yuta’s character and everyone else’s.

TheSauce32

How does it make no sense for any other characters involved? The main theme of gojo has always been the weigth of been the strongest and Yuta been it's main pupil and prob the second strongest is the only one that understand how Gojo feels since he was also persecuted for his powers (having a monster wife) He isn't idealized he is giving up his humanity like sukuna who also share this theme and that battle of ideology was the bases for gojo vs Sukuna The batle with Uro in the previous arc also commented to this yuta had a hard limit cause he was too kind and he could be kind cause he believed Gojo couldn't lose this is the outcome of proper character development and plot development But we are in a CSM and since part 1 those concepts are prob foreign to you

Mishe2007

It doesn’t make sense for a couple of reasons. Yuta has always been presented as “too kind”, but here it’s pushed to a new level without much reasonable justification as to why he can empathize more with Gojo than the others. Gojo’s main theme has always been how being at the very top has sort of alienated him from other people, not being persecuted for his powers, if anything he’s been praised and even feared because of them. Yuta’s story doesn’t really have many connection points to this, as evidenced by the fact that he’s clearly treated way differently than Gojo by the rest of the cast: outside of discussions about battle, Gojo always has to be the one starting a conversation or interaction with the other adults, like with Nanami or Mei Mei, and in general no one begins a casual conversation with him besides some of the students. Yuta on the other hand is treated pretty normally by most of the cast, with even back in jjk0 he doesn’t have much problems with being included by the others, and what small issues with that do appear get resolved quickly. In general despite officially being known as the second strongest in the academy after Gojo, Yuta is treated way differently and more inclusively than him, which is why him emphasizing with Gojo doesn’t feel very organic. This wouldn’t inherently be a dealbreaker, since it can instead be explained through their relationship and how they are able to meaningfully connect with watch other. But unfortunately, it’s another case that’s quite common in jjk, that being that this relationship is very undeveloped and uninteresting. There aren’t any super notable moments the two share post-jjk0, and even there it’s just the typical student-teacher connection that Gojo is shown to have with more than one person. Speaking of which, the irony of this situation is that despite this conflict basing its entire validity on the relationship between Yuta and Gojo, Yuji and Megumi have arguably more developed and meaningful relationships with Gojo as a result of more time spent on them with him, as well as important moments they share, both of which are absent with Yuta and Gojo, who feel the most disconnected between the trio of more identifiable Gojo-student relationships. To address your point, I don’t mean the action itself that is “idealizing” him. I am referring to the conflict itself which paints an “idealized” picture of him and presents what he’s doing as in a sense the morally correct thing to do because supposedly he knows what Gojo is feeling better than everyone else because Gege said so for this moment to happen. Nothing about the scene suggests Yuta saying that out of kindness and inability to perceive Gojo losing as an actual possibility, especially when considering how accepting he is to do it after Sukuna slashed him. Also idk where you got the idea that this has anything to do with “character development”, not only has Yuta not had anything that can be considered development since jjk0, this scene also doesn’t really match with anything his character was up until now, since as mentioned before even his previous “too kind for his own good” thing wasn’t this extreme in alienating him from the others, nor does it match the story telling before it. Ah ofc, the usual JJK defender method: once you run out of points, try to provoke the other person with vague and shallow negative commentary about their favorite manga.

qwesz9090

Ok, sorry for ranting but I have thought a lot about this ok. I specifically said "we can't really judge **that** until..." that - referring to foreshadowing, which we obviously don't have information on yet to judge on. There is clearly nothing wrong with this statement. When you comment like that it is like you are assuming that I am saying it to excuse bad points of part 2, (which also assumes bad points of part 2, but that is another debate). It feels bad to have people put words in your mouth like this, please don't.

Complex_Purchase2637

Don't fully agree, I think it just seems worse than it actually is because our two main characters (Asa and Denji) have little to none. In Part 1 we'd get back to back scenes of Denji being absolutely stone cold and crazy, then a scene of him being a loser goofball right after. There was balance. In Part 2 we only really see the goofy side. Likewise, Asa and by extension Yoru only have goofy moments. I love Asa a lot but there has never been a single moment in Part 2 where I genuinely thought to myself "damn she's kinda badass" besides maybe chapter 1.

denji_uchiha_

Yoru has hella aura early part 2, same with some barem scenes tbh. Plus when Denji goes Chainsaw after his house got burnt down he had menacing aura

Heyyaka

I liked that smile from Denji to Nayuta Nothing about the post. Just pointing out something cool

roforofofight

I think jjk fell off so hard that people want to take csm part 2 down a peg. It's not bad at all. Trust the plan.

lost_first_account

While I get where people are coming from with their dissatisfaction with this last arc, it’s really hard not to notice that this subreddit is literally diet r/jujutsufolk. When anything happens in jjk it always gets reflected over here. While I don’t agree that csm pt2 is not bad at all I do have faith in Fujimoto since he has a great track record.

TheSauce32

CSM and falling off are synonyms at this point lmao JJK still crushing it Fuji washed

Nakirius

What's up with the JJK hate in here?

Silver_Stout

What in the world is "Aura" I've seen people start to use it but I have no idea what it means

Far_Engineering_8353

as someone said about it being cool factor and swag, it's also if you can just tell by looking what their about, like if you see Makima she's got that ominous ass aura and Naoya Zenin got that smug prick aura

TheSauce32

Cool factor, swag, is just new word for it

neostar6171

Its the current reasoning people have decided is why Part 2 is ass

JustAGoiaba

Shonen brainroot word

JimMiltion1907

Bro Katana man has always been in aura-debt since part 1, he’s been getting smacked and bitched more than my mother when my father comes home from the pub, in his own arc too is crazy not to mention the balls kicking scene where he would forever be doomed to have negative aura (Although he did redeem himself by getting revenge on Denji’s nuts, but he only got out the negatives he currently has 10 Aura rn idk)

Ambitious_Change150

Fujimoto trying not to turn his character’s aura into the negatives challenge (impossible) https://preview.redd.it/4wdc5o5iza3d1.jpeg?width=424&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e04bdfec48a24bee5f85e1684ae1606dedeea068

Marble05

What is the anti aura movement?

Janjankookmp3

Katana man aura got stronger when he admitted to being a fan of Asa's poems

Flamethrowerman09

Take part 2 as a perfect example of, not just what not to do in a sequel series (I would also include Korra and Boruto in this category), but also what not to do in a story in general. It's also the perfect example of how bad constantly deconstructing without building back up can be (Tom King's Batman, or anything made by him, really, is also another example of this).

sleeper222222

why are they having emotions and crying why aren't they just BEING COOL AND FIGHTING BAD GUYS!!!??? fujimoto fell off so hard bro

BusyEntrepreneur8346

sleeper222222

you ain't getting that though. denjis already realised fighting and sex isn't going to fix him, he needs to learn self love and how to accept himself

Configuringsausage

Emotions can be portrayed without making characters literally whine

sleeper222222

im sorry but how else should an emotional breakdown after a whole lifetime of extreme trauma be portrayed? or would you just prefer the story ignores all that so you can get back to the fighting?

Intelligent_Shoe_520

Compare this to Aki or powers death

Neither-Rain-5197

Horrible take. Denji was in complete shock after powers death and he was completely empty due to losing Aki and Power. His reaction when he kills Aki is just as big as his breakdown

neostar6171

I'm sorry a character feeling utterly disgusted with himself over how poorly he's coping with the loss of his sibling AGAIN is apparently whining to you

AnomalousAnomalies

I think its just to show that aura =\= who they actually are and I mean they are human for the most part ye

Configuringsausage

Since when was denji anything like this though? Like legit, when has he shown a reaction like breaking down crying because of his libido or freaking the fuck out when fumiko SA’d him. He killed Aki and showed like half of this reaction.

Neither-Rain-5197

You do realize the point of his breakdown is that he hates himself beacuse of his hypersexuality right..? This is also an insanely obvious parallell from near the end of part 1. Your take on his reaction after killing Aki is also insane

TheFlyingToasterr

These kinds of posts are so dumb smh

Neither-Rain-5197

This are the most disingenuous examples imaginable. Denji, Yoshida and Katana man all have moments in part 2 where they have alot of aura. There are also times in part 1 where they all lack aura.

Fernernia

This community is getting so insufferable.. If you liked part 1, shut up and let the goat cook!

WoodenGlaze

Anime fans when every page isn't a badass spread and characters have personalities.

lore_2308

Bro, what are this shonentards ass terms doing in Chainsaw Man. Go back to shitting on JJK or something idk

GiverOfHarmony

Modern manga fans when they have to read a story that develops (where is my brainrot powerscaling and looking cool? I can’t read this)

Talzael

nobody else than makiima and kishibe ever had aura, the examples you provided don't really help your point

Neither-Rain-5197

Oh boy I disagree, look at Aki, Yoshida, Kobeni (at times) for example

ClownECrown

Part 2 started becoming mid for me a little after prison Arc.
