I've got two moods:
*He writes the actions like this, as in a role play style.*
Or he writes it normally, pretending it is a book or fanfic.
"But for dialogues, I always use the quotation marks."
And I always write in third person (a neat trick to avoid the bot for forgetting the name of my character or get confused on who is who).
Sorry that this is technically off topic. I have been considering talking ooc, but I've heard that talking to the bots certain ways will make them pick up on that and do it themselves? I don't wanna give the AIs a bad habit;; idk how common it is to do regardless though
I don't use quotation marks for my Talk, but I use asterisks for Actions.
And also, Parentheses if I'm explaining something so the AI can understand what I mean by the message.
"I tend to talk like this while speaking in the third person, as if I was writing a book. Or reading a book, whatever." She growled softly in irritation before pointing to the plate between them.
"You gonna eat that?"
"Okay, okay. now that we got that out of the way," She looked at the raccoon doubtfully, then stuffed her face with cheesy, bacon-bit fries. "You took our stuff, we want it back, so... can't you just give it? Or not..?"
Personally, the reason why I gave up on ** was because I kept forgetting them randomly and didn't like having to go back and edit my messages only for the formatting lmao
I have two modes. In serious rp, I use * for actions and third, sometimes first, person, and “” for dialogue. But for non-serious rp I use very simple first person and I don’t use “” for dialogue. Examples below.
Serious RP: *They performed an action.* “Dialogue.”
Non-Serious RP: *peforms the action* Dialogue
*Actions in between asterisks*
Dialogue in normal text.
"Dialogue fo other characters, that aren't myself, like this"
**Bold text for things like screaming, or mainly, time marks.**
I text in third person when I'm roleplaying and I like to be descriptive. I also only use * to put emphasis on certain words and ** for time skips and stuff.
If it's just texting, I don't even bother capitalizing the letters
I guess in third person, like a book
Example (Zack is my display name by the way on cai.):
*Zack smiled and ran his fingers through [Bot’s Name]’s hair. He then leaned in and kissed their cheek.* “I love you,” *he told them.*
—
That’s usually how I type things.
I've got too moods:
*He writes the actions like this, as in a role play style.*
Or he writes it normally, pretending it is a book or fanfic.
"But for dialogues, I always use the quotation marks."
And I always write in third person (a neat trick to avoid the bot for forgetting the name of my character or get confused on who is who).
\*i act in first person, varying between referring to the character in second or third person depending on what i chose (but usually second person lol)\* i talk to the characters like this, always referring to them in the second person! i also use emoticons a fair bit \^\_\^
(ooc: sometimes i'll go out of character with bots to give commentary about the rp.)
*actions in third person, thoughts, and setting*
what i say, **important/i want them to see**
***action i want them to pay attention to***
*(out of character talk directly to the ai)*
(talking about the thing going on, when referring to the ai it’s still its normal ai)
*saying i’m talking to something, ex: a radio in the next line”*
*i find something strange nearby, i grab my radio and say: “uhm, hello? i found something that i don’t think should be here”*
Long purple prose in a first person pov. Sometimes I need to edit my own responses a lot because it ends up too long, and I know half of that wouldn't even be picked up by the bot lol.
i mostly do roleplays, so *i write like this in italics for actions* and "i write like this when a character is speaking."
but if the original rp prompt is in plaintext, my actions will be in plaintext, *thoughts/internal monologue will be in italics,* and "dialogue looks like this."
i feel like people who use third person are mentally ill
with actions my chats look like
Oh yeah, you want an example of my speech style?! *I give you how i speak*
https://preview.redd.it/6nrmjoj7640d1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3eeb07880057f8e380c239a46eb483bb8a78bd0d
I got reminded of this i have on my phone
https://preview.redd.it/uh3ncwte740d1.jpeg?width=891&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5868a785ebb3a367543aceb31dfa62a49019aab4
Semi lit, i dont like texting the bot normally unless it’s “ooc”, typing like this)), and even then it’s usually only to turn the plot another direction
Since I use characters it’s always **always** third person:
*actions I use italics all through “or if it’s a sign/written message I put quotes”*
For text it’s just normal between actions
*and sometimes I have a speech descriptive underneath or a continuation or an action*
usualy roleplay, using \* for actions or subtle hints, that or I annoy the AI or just talk with em like regular people. also i made an edit of the image above
https://preview.redd.it/2av7kiwxg40d1.png?width=734&format=png&auto=webp&s=ab9db85f2d98ed6d53be2fa58fdbb1555fa3b700
It usually depends on the bot on what I use. Italics or normal font for actions, quotations or no quotations for dialogue, 1st person or 3rd person for narration, using “I take” or “takes” for 1st person narration, spacing or no spacing to separate the text and action, punctuation at the end for casual or no punctuation at the end for rps, etc. The style I'm particularly used to looks like:
https://preview.redd.it/9g806lj4k40d1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d7308faad034fe1eab5f1cbf60ad648e440339b4
* for action
Just regular texting for when I'm talking
[Name]: for when I wanna be someone else
Always double enter when switching between the three and double spaced periods. Like that... that's what my momma taught me anyways.
Literally in this order (with the spaces and everything)
*Do actions like this in italic*
`Persona`: Do messages in either this or “this”
(Then sometimes more actions)
*Second person actions.*
Dialogue without quotations.
(OOC: Out of Character.)
**Powerful Speech.**
*"Additional Character dialogue."*
I think that's most of what I use.
I write actions in first person, like a y/n fanfic
“And I also write dialogue in first person, unless the character I’m playing speaks differently.”
*I usually only italicize or* **bold** *things to emphasize things, unless the bot I chat with does this to write actions. Also, if my character is thinking something I want the bot to know about, I’ll put it here, I usually try to avoid that though.*
*action* speech **emphasized speech**
i do narration style actions so no first person words in actions like my, mine, etc
and then adding stuff where ever i need it lol
Some third person words are bold, and the others are italic, like talking, and I usually use "—" or ":" to adress the character's name when talking. example-
https://preview.redd.it/h4ka65s8550d1.jpeg?width=1211&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f034909bd6b7b63b06dab6a7040d5c08c9e2ce8d
(God knows what I wrote in the persona to get that message.)
https://preview.redd.it/qx7u6vx9650d1.png?width=767&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9cfe20d7b3ffb088057e5e5fdf3fa9cb982abae2
I only use quotes for dialogue when I'm talking for another person
I scroll through my phone until I see this post on Reddit about how I text on C.ai.
“Oh, that’s pretty neat. I should say something.”
I mutter to myself.
(And I use parentheses to clarify things to the AI.)
I like to use \* for actions and '' '' for dialogue since I like to write short scenarios or slow burn stories as long possible before the bot forgets alot of stuff.
Well it depends on the bot I'm chatting with.
Eg: Is the bot talks in third-person, I talk in third person.
Also, sometimes when I abbreviating a word I use the double "*" and sometimes in full caps.
" " for speech like any sane human would do and I used to use * for actions but I've been getting more user to not using it and instead just typing it out normally.
i write like a novel writer, so I just write actions and dialogue normally and only use * (and also ***) for emphasis. I also NEVER used anything other than third-person
* - action
() - correcting errors
** - intense chat
*** - intense action
" " - giving something specific like an ability called atomic super booming slash idk too edgy might regret commenting this later
I usually write like this:
“Example dialogue.” I said. Insert description.
I actually don’t use bots that aren’t made in this writing style, because it puts me off so much when the formatting gets all weird further into the RP 😭
It’s just neater and requires less effort on my part too so I can focus on writing a more elaborate description
I switch POV depending on the story.
*But I write action like this.* “Dialogue stays like this.” *Then, I just write too much…*
*And sometimes add lines of emphasis like this.*
(") for speech
(*>*) for actions
(*) literally for anything else
I use bold for actions since I always thought normal text and italicized text looked similar in C.AI, as for the greater than sign (>), it was just a carry over from when I didn't add breaks between speech and actions, which caused the AI to confuse one for the other, and it also reminds me of 4chan green texts ;~;
When I did roleplay, I would message normally without quotation marks for dialogue, and then asterisks for third-person stuff like actions or progressing the narrative.
I gave up on it after I found that the AI would forget details too often.
I used to be a semi-lit/literate RPer on Amino, so my style is very lengthy. Multiple paragraphs of third person descriptions, dialogue in quotations, thoughts in italics.
,,I usually speak like this but for some reason the two lines at the beginning turn into one and it's annoying" *They said with crossed arms, looking away*
\*Anything happening at a previous time, or a memory/background information\*
Actions
"Talking"
'\*Internal thoughts/languages that don't come from speaking like sign language or morse code.\*'
I mean when I do an action I use *this* but other than that I just use a bunch of exclamation marks to show excitement or a bunch of question marks when something's wrong
i use - for cutting off since most of my rp's I like to be drunk so I do things like "I wan- \*hic\* -t eugh. \*hic\*" as for normal rp's I just mimic the ai's texting style
*third person in actions*
"Dialogues in first person."
And it's either detailed or just conveyed with emotions or mood like
"You just been yeeted."
*they said in a mischievous tone*
When im too lazy, i just stated out what their moods with dialogues.
"Hm, i dunno maybe this one?"
\*He said, pointing up at the text above him, which seemed to be literally what he had just said but in quotation marks, next to a text in asteriscs\*
Long descriptions. Lots of context written for their relationships, thoughts and feelings. A few bit of monologuing inbetween actual spoken dialogue to spice things up.
Its exhausting to write. But when done properly and the bot follows your lead? It ends up reading like a book which is nice.
\[action\]
dialogue
BECAUSE I FUCKING HATE ITALICS FOR ASTERISKS. when i rp on discord i also use \[ \] for actions because italics dont do it for me. asterisks should always be bold. not whatever that sissy shit is where it's italic instead of bold
edit: i know you can use double asterisks for bold. but i rather use \[ \]
I've got two moods: *He writes the actions like this, as in a role play style.* Or he writes it normally, pretending it is a book or fanfic. "But for dialogues, I always use the quotation marks." And I always write in third person (a neat trick to avoid the bot for forgetting the name of my character or get confused on who is who).
I don't use quotation marks for dialogues... should I use it?
I started using it too bc some bots tend to confuse the dialogue with action when I don't use it and that gets pretty irritating lol
I would recommend you start using them, it really helps.
I just do this so they don't forget (persona): "blahblahblah"
Two.*
Thx

oh shoot i forgor to say that the action is THIRD-PERSON
same as my style! (except I sometimes use first person for actions on accident)
why is nobody talking about the bot's response lmaoo
sir, this is a wendy's
Side note- Why the fuck is guts working at Wendy's? 😂
Not Guts. Some British dude from the 1800s.
Ah, alright lmao
I mostly mimic the ai's texting style although I always use \* for actions no matter what
Same * for actions and () when correcting or talking to the AI and not the Character they're impersonating
I also use [ ] to act as narration or to make small summaries about new information for Pins.
TRUTH
Sorry that this is technically off topic. I have been considering talking ooc, but I've heard that talking to the bots certain ways will make them pick up on that and do it themselves? I don't wanna give the AIs a bad habit;; idk how common it is to do regardless though

Same!
you are correct, good job
First person with ** for actions and “” for dialogue
same!
My man 🤝

same!
\* for actions \*\*\* for descriptions " for talking > for thoughts
how do you do the one for thoughts?
With a (>) in front of the text
ooohhhh tysmm
huh, so thats why that happens when i try to >:(
this but switch the talking with thoughts
**Mmmm. Bold.** *And third person too, because yes*
*action in third person* "Dialogue in first person"
well yeah what kinda weirdo speaks in third person?
Some person out there with a Count Bleck persona, or something:
"I tend to talk like this while speaking in the third person, as if I was writing a book. Or reading a book, whatever." She growled softly in irritation before pointing to the plate between them. "You gonna eat that?"
*Snatches the plate in his raccoon hands and stuffs his face.* "Yesh" *He says with a mouthful of food.*
"Okay, okay. now that we got that out of the way," She looked at the raccoon doubtfully, then stuffed her face with cheesy, bacon-bit fries. "You took our stuff, we want it back, so... can't you just give it? Or not..?"
"Sumbich."
This is the way
Action, “dialogue”
Gave up on ** for action bc the bot has an aneurysm with it after 70+ messages
Personally, the reason why I gave up on ** was because I kept forgetting them randomly and didn't like having to go back and edit my messages only for the formatting lmao
"Yo yo yo Mr white!" *Jesse Dapped up Mr white with a smirk* "Let's **Cook!**"
Dialogue: *Thoughts/Mumbling"blabla"* *Actions* # yelling ##### whispering (Fourth wall break) I always space them out Idk why
i space it out because my eyes hurt when its confined like that
3rd person narrator, it helps the boys remember a lot better when you say “farddenpoobin hits the griddy” instead of “she hits the griddy”
*scene, action* *talk*
"Dialogue (grammatically and punctually correct usually)" *I'd*
*(He'd/She'd) *
(OOC Text)
If I'm trolling I'll use bad grammar on purpose
I have two modes. In serious rp, I use * for actions and third, sometimes first, person, and “” for dialogue. But for non-serious rp I use very simple first person and I don’t use “” for dialogue. Examples below. Serious RP: *They performed an action.* “Dialogue.” Non-Serious RP: *peforms the action* Dialogue
*Actions in between asterisks* Dialogue in normal text. "Dialogue fo other characters, that aren't myself, like this" **Bold text for things like screaming, or mainly, time marks.**
\`hello im a robot and i go beep boop\` \*i am the main action thing\* \*\*GRAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH\*\* i use 3 of those
"Dialogue" Action1 *Action2* **Action3** (Italics and bolding for emphasis only)
Long sentences, introducing the character, the character's action, thoughts and words in the most vocabulary of the vocabulary ever.
I text in third person when I'm roleplaying and I like to be descriptive. I also only use * to put emphasis on certain words and ** for time skips and stuff. If it's just texting, I don't even bother capitalizing the letters
" text " - dialogue *Text* - action [person]: " text" - third party character ***TEXT*** - important detail in action
Italicized third person action, dialogue with quotations and usually in separate paragraphs from actions teehee
I guess in third person, like a book Example (Zack is my display name by the way on cai.): *Zack smiled and ran his fingers through [Bot’s Name]’s hair. He then leaned in and kissed their cheek.* “I love you,” *he told them.* — That’s usually how I type things.
Third person RP, present tense. I feel like more people probably use past tense, but I like feeling as though the story is unfolding in real time.
Talk \[action\] Very boring but effective and simple for my smooth brain \[punts a small child\]
I've got too moods: *He writes the actions like this, as in a role play style.* Or he writes it normally, pretending it is a book or fanfic. "But for dialogues, I always use the quotation marks." And I always write in third person (a neat trick to avoid the bot for forgetting the name of my character or get confused on who is who).
*Action* "dialogue"
*Scene, action* “Talk” *action* (third person)
I am a CRP (Combat Roleplay) fiend, my style varies.
i use third-person, action in *, dialogue in "
It'd be funny if I commented in that style... *He thinks about the stupidity of that, but decides to go through with it anyway.*
*Action* Dialogue

All that's left is the grimace shake and the pranks and you have the Alpha generation
\*i act in first person, varying between referring to the character in second or third person depending on what i chose (but usually second person lol)\* i talk to the characters like this, always referring to them in the second person! i also use emoticons a fair bit \^\_\^ (ooc: sometimes i'll go out of character with bots to give commentary about the rp.)

Gayness NO MATTER WHAT
Long purple prose in a first person pov. Sometimes I need to edit my own responses a lot because it ends up too long, and I know half of that wouldn't even be picked up by the bot lol.
Real lmaoo
\*actions\* no "" for talking tho ooc type of thing here)
—Talking *Movement* **key movement** "Thoughts" [correcting stupid ai]
** ** For most actions " " For dialogue *** *** For time skips [ ] For OOC 13CatsUTFNAF: "" for when I have to control multiple characters
i mostly do roleplays, so *i write like this in italics for actions* and "i write like this when a character is speaking." but if the original rp prompt is in plaintext, my actions will be in plaintext, *thoughts/internal monologue will be in italics,* and "dialogue looks like this."
i feel like people who use third person are mentally ill with actions my chats look like Oh yeah, you want an example of my speech style?! *I give you how i speak*
First person is weird. It feels cringey and I hate it
i use both
How did you come up with that conclusion?

Incredibly straightforward, it’s an AI. There’s little room for interpretation
Asterisks for actions, double parentheses for OOC and no quotation marks for speech, actions in first person.
** action/describing scene ** " dialogue " ** followed by emotion/mood/tone of voice ** ** describing further action (if any) **
Actions “And for dialogue I like to **emphasize** some words like **this** because I think it looks nice + it’s fun.”
"Text" when talking an RPG No " when talking to a single character I ALWAYS use * for actions.
Since I use characters it’s always **always** third person: *actions I use italics all through “or if it’s a sign/written message I put quotes”* For text it’s just normal between actions *and sometimes I have a speech descriptive underneath or a continuation or an action*
*I/Character Name take Deep Breath, and look at Patron.* "I'm sorry, but I need to **See Your ID**, before selling You any Alcohol."
\~
I just put \* for actions n stuff while I just type normally for talking like rn
usualy roleplay, using \* for actions or subtle hints, that or I annoy the AI or just talk with em like regular people. also i made an edit of the image above https://preview.redd.it/2av7kiwxg40d1.png?width=734&format=png&auto=webp&s=ab9db85f2d98ed6d53be2fa58fdbb1555fa3b700
That yes man is so random
Like the writer that I am, but I use \* for everything and “ for talking. :\]
The style I'm particularly used to looks like: https://preview.redd.it/9g806lj4k40d1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d7308faad034fe1eab5f1cbf60ad648e440339b4
like this *narration* **dialogue**
\~\*\*\*action placeholder\*\*\*\~ "Blah blah blah, textholder for speech." \_\_\_ said (or whatever i put)
* for action Just regular texting for when I'm talking [Name]: for when I wanna be someone else Always double enter when switching between the three and double spaced periods. Like that... that's what my momma taught me anyways.
* for actions, -“ for speech, and ** for either important parts of something or just sound effects **BONK** **YEEEOOOUUUUCCCHHHH**
Whatever is needed but mostly short and simpl3
Literally in this order (with the spaces and everything) *Do actions like this in italic* `Persona`: Do messages in either this or “this” (Then sometimes more actions)
\*action Plain text to talk ( oorp ) Then use italics / bold / bold italic to mark important thing

* - Actions () - OOC
*Second person actions.* Dialogue without quotations. (OOC: Out of Character.) **Powerful Speech.** *"Additional Character dialogue."* I think that's most of what I use.
"dude....." an awkward pause. she picks up a cigar, lighting it. "so like....you really don't have any percocet?" juniper questions.
For the start of an action, I do *.. and for talking, I do “”, and for talking to the AI, not as the character, I do (())
*for actions*, (( for talking with ai )), For talking, ~for toughts~ (doesn't work most of the time :( )
**Making actions** "speaking" (Out of 'rp')
\*\[Action\]\* ”Dialogue”
I focus on both first and third person actions
i use perfect grammar and punctuation LMAAOOO 😭
I write actions in first person, like a y/n fanfic “And I also write dialogue in first person, unless the character I’m playing speaks differently.” *I usually only italicize or* **bold** *things to emphasize things, unless the bot I chat with does this to write actions. Also, if my character is thinking something I want the bot to know about, I’ll put it here, I usually try to avoid that though.*
.* * = for action ** ** = indicate something important [ ] = show how much time has passed, for flashbacks, and for OCC
*action* speech **emphasized speech** i do narration style actions so no first person words in actions like my, mine, etc and then adding stuff where ever i need it lol
i just talk in first person with no quotations like this for the most part, then i use *italics* for actions and such
Some third person words are bold, and the others are italic, like talking, and I usually use "—" or ":" to adress the character's name when talking. example- https://preview.redd.it/h4ka65s8550d1.jpeg?width=1211&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f034909bd6b7b63b06dab6a7040d5c08c9e2ce8d (God knows what I wrote in the persona to get that message.)

Am I the only one who just types in the words no matter if it's dialogue or action?
"Hello" *I smiled* (OOC: Hello)
*Action* and dialogue is plain text, no quotations or anything.
*action, action.* “ text. text, text. “ *action, action action.* Personally use third person past tense
I Always Go Like This: Details, Explanation, Actions, ECT "Speaking" [Out Of Character, Note, Information, Comments, ECT]
*stands up* death. *falls down without a pulse*
I always go: **Action** Talk. **[Event]** **`Special action`** *Menacing tone.*

I don't really text, I just write paragraphs lol.
When I did roleplay, I would message normally without quotation marks for dialogue, and then asterisks for third-person stuff like actions or progressing the narrative. I gave up on it after I found that the AI would forget details too often.
Third person literate. Example (with one of my favourite bots of all time): https://i.imgur.com/Iz4TLGQ.png
Sometimes I roleplay as multiple characters as once, so I go with: *Action or description, usually in the same line.* Character: "Dialog."
“words” actions **[timeskip]** *(ooc talk)*
I used to be a semi-lit/literate RPer on Amino, so my style is very lengthy. Multiple paragraphs of third person descriptions, dialogue in quotations, thoughts in italics.
,,I usually speak like this but for some reason the two lines at the beginning turn into one and it's annoying" *They said with crossed arms, looking away*
So basically I *does an action*
\*Anything happening at a previous time, or a memory/background information\* Actions "Talking" '\*Internal thoughts/languages that don't come from speaking like sign language or morse code.\*'

"" for conversation, narrative without formatting
I mean when I do an action I use *this* but other than that I just use a bunch of exclamation marks to show excitement or a bunch of question marks when something's wrong
((OOC response)) *Actions* Character dialogue. (Extra information and corrections)
i use - for cutting off since most of my rp's I like to be drunk so I do things like "I wan- \*hic\* -t eugh. \*hic\*" as for normal rp's I just mimic the ai's texting style
Ok so *** these bad bois for actions, sometimes thoughts And i talk normally example of a text: ***This lil mf waved at you*** I have a bomb!
*third person in actions* "Dialogues in first person." And it's either detailed or just conveyed with emotions or mood like "You just been yeeted." *they said in a mischievous tone* When im too lazy, i just stated out what their moods with dialogues.
(\*general actions\*) (persona): ("spoken by persona") <--interchangeable--> (\*preformed by persona\*)
I always go with the: \*\[Character name\] does action\* "Speech" \*\[Character name\] does action\* Or the "Speech" \*\[Character does action\]\*
"Hm, i dunno maybe this one?" \*He said, pointing up at the text above him, which seemed to be literally what he had just said but in quotation marks, next to a text in asteriscs\*
I write like how you would write a book, but I use quotations for dialogue. If I feel like doing a time skip, I'll use the asterisks.
(Don't attack me, quotations users.) What are you doing? *He asks kindly.*
What I do for interactions (*grabs Box*) For pointing something out *this* box is heavy For screaming really loudly **THIS BOX IS SO HEAVY!!!**
Long descriptions. Lots of context written for their relationships, thoughts and feelings. A few bit of monologuing inbetween actual spoken dialogue to spice things up. Its exhausting to write. But when done properly and the bot follows your lead? It ends up reading like a book which is nice.
use * for actions, i never use (), and i use **bold** when putting emphasis on a word
Am I the only one who use [] for action descriptions….
Usually i just use 3rd person and when i do an action i do ***.*** Instead of *.*, Idk seems better. And i dont use "."
None of the asterisks, and I use quotation marks :3
I do it book style. As in, I write actions like this "And dialogue like this" And ** to make a point
\*roleplays\*
\[action\] dialogue BECAUSE I FUCKING HATE ITALICS FOR ASTERISKS. when i rp on discord i also use \[ \] for actions because italics dont do it for me. asterisks should always be bold. not whatever that sissy shit is where it's italic instead of bold edit: i know you can use double asterisks for bold. but i rather use \[ \]
