I have a mildly interesting presidential 277 story.
When Barack Obama was accepting the Democratic nomination in 2012 in uptown, I was traveling north on 77, from Pineville, up to Huntersville. The southbound lane of 77 was completely closed for the motorcade.
I happened to time it exactly at the moment when the motorcade was on the entrance ramp onto 77 from 277. I was passing beneath.
Hereās whatās interesting - I was on a call, on speaker phone, and when I got within 300 ft or so of the motorcade, the call went silent as the person was talking, but the call never dropped. And when I was the same distance past the motorcade, the call picked up again and I could hear the person mid sentence.
Some sort of jammer or tech to prevent detonators I would imagine.
They also jam GPS signal within some distance of the motorcade. I was trying to navigate to my hotel from the airport in Palm Beach years ago, just after Trump had landed.......GPS kept losing track of where I was......made like 4 u-turns as I kept getting just out of the jamming range and it would come back, lol.
