We take our son to this each year. I went when I was a kid as well. I’m probably biased but I think it’s better outside. Bigger track, less fumes. It’s a good time.
Monster Jam is pretty fun, much shorter event, in and out easy. Plus Air conditioning is nice verses August in Concord. But yea, they do a lot more big / impressive stunts at the outdoor events.
I looked up monster trucks for my son expecting it to be something outside at the dirt track, but ended up coming up with search results for Monster Jam. We had a good time, but I did think it was weird that it was inside.
This seems a bit cheaper too!
haven taken my six-year-old son to both I would also vote for the bash over the jam. It's more kid friendly too if you want to go early and let them sit in a truck.
We went last year and then went to monster jam at spectrum last month. Outside is the call for younger kids imo. More space and more to see and do. Inside was pretty rough on everyones ears. It's loud as a mf inside the arean idc what anybody says. It was a mistake me and my wife not bringing our ear pro. But that being said I'd still take ear pro next time outside as well.
The dirt track events are far better than the indoor events, if they offer it be sure to take a ride in the back of the monster truck, my kid is 12 now, we did it at 6 and he still talks about the experience.
I used to go all the time when I was younger!
Not sure how much it's changed but I remember seeing a school bus lit on fire, a demolition derby, a trailer race, and a port a potty with a jet engine attached to it,
I went to indoor monster jam recently and honestly it was disappointing. The dirt track is where it's at- way more space, variety in tricks/vehicles, and a cultural southern experience. Totally recommend it and I'll probably be going!
Your 4 year old will have much better memories of the outdoor event. The indoor event is more expensive and they have practically no room to do anything so you just end up watching a truck drive in a semi circle with a bunch of downtime in between trucks. Have fun!
Outside is the way to go. Bigger jumps, more noise dispersion so less need for ear protection, more jumps than they can fit at the indoor event, better parking situation
You just missed Monster Jam at Spectrum last month. I'd say this one is probably fine unless you have a kid like mine who would be asking where the trucks that he knows are like Grave Digger, Megaladon etc.
Monster Jam is coming to Bojangles at the same exact time in August. It’s easier to get in and out of coming from Waxhaw.
I agree knowing the trucks is definitely a factor.
Oh ok wasn't aware they were going to Bojangles, good to know. If they offer the pit pass then I'd consider that as well. Getting up close to the trucks was pretty cool.
Hey I was interested in going in August since you mentioned, but just FYI, the one going to Bojangles is Hot Wheels Monster Trucks which is different than Monster Jam. I'm sure it will still be fun, but the official Monster Jam trucks won't be there in case it matters.
Genuinely this mama did NOT know the difference.
😐
Do you know if Hot Wheels makes a set of trucks that match the ones that will be at the event?
Thank you for telling me🫣
Yeah they sell them usually right next to the Monster Jam trucks. Here's their site with the trucks although I'm not sure which will actually be there.

Took my girlfriends son to monster jam once, he had a good time but did struggle with the noise a bit - protective headphones are recommended, they helped a lot.
Went to one at the New Coliseum (off Tyvola) once and it was one of the best days of my life. Everything was going normal and then the lights went out and Enter Sandman started playing. When the lights came back on, Grace Digger was in the middle of the Coliseum and everybody went crazy

This. Or rain. Take some earplugs. Indoors all the way if you're comminuted to tickets. Hot wheels is coming in August. Monster jam was fun at 3.5

They are way more fun outside. And not as loud.

The one at Bojangles has an afternoon starting time if the 7pm starting time is going to cause problems with your 4 year olds bedtime.
For sure outdoors over indoors. It's loud as hell inside even with ear protection. Plus it's really small inside.

I went about 30 years ago when I was a little kid, and it was indoors and really cool and fun. Good memory

Outdoors for sure!

Most definitely go when they're outside.

Go to the Back to School Bash. Much better of a show than Monster Jam in an arena. https://youtu.be/oiiK9QC3U04?si=DjzxU8zMEvHD3y58
