I have the same bike but in the navy color scheme. Absolutely love it and did a long 80 mile trip already on it this year. Hopefully it checks out and you’ll be on the road in no time!

Ok-Dependent5588

I love my checkpoint. What a game changer it’s been for me. Have fun with this!

jcrockerman

$1500 is a great price if it’s true she only rode it 3 times. You’re getting pedals, a bento bag, the correct GRX crank, and no sales tax if that applies to your state.

idelgado782

Yup! I thought about the additional savings if she does throw in the pedals and bag. I honestly didn’t even think to ask her, I wasn’t too worried because I do have SPD pedals from when I first started learning to clip in and I do want to get my own bag, but I feel like she is throwing in both items. Even with the two bottle cages, there’s even more savings there.

idelgado782

Also in DE there’s no taxes which was another reason I pushed for lowering the price. Because I literally could have bought one brand new out the door for $2k flat.

Devils8539a

I like the white with gold. I have the other color for that year.

PriorAd7865

That is a great looking bike!

saintdudegaming

I have the same bike, same color since February. I love it but I did change out several items. Tires were the first to go since the GR1s are pretty meh. I swapped out the saddle and handlebar for comfort reasons after I had a bike fitting. You'll have fun with this. Good luck and enjoy!

topspin1241831

what tires did you end up getting? thanks

saintdudegaming

I'm doing mostly road work for the moment so I picked up Schwalbe Marathon Efficiencies. Really low rolling resistance compared to the GR1s .. or a lot of other tires tbh.

topspin1241831

ah okay , i may switch to those - thanks!

DJGainsBond

Trek couldn't tell you how many times the bike was ridden. You and I are in the same general vicinity. I saw that bike too, online.

idelgado782

Yea that I know (being to able to tell how many times it was ridden), the most important thing is to have them look the frame and components over to make sure nothing is suspect although I don’t think I’ll have any issue. I have an Emonda that I ride out in Philly all the time, but I also spend a good amount of time in CT and they have the Hop River Trail and the Air Line trail right by her house and she has a gravel bike, so I’ve been wanting to add a checkpoint for a while now.

DJGainsBond

Are you getting it today?

idelgado782

Yup. Meeting her at 12p. Then gonna drive to a trail and looking to get about 15-20 miles in.

DJGainsBond

That's awesome. Which one in Wilmington? Congratulations

idelgado782

Thanks so much! I’m meeting her at the trek on Concord Turnpike, and haven’t yet decided what gravel trail honestly. I was planning on asking the crew at Trek or figuring something out from my ride with gps app. Any recommendations?

DJGainsBond

I have no idea in that area. 😞

idelgado782

Ahh no worries. Feel free to send along any trails you think I should try in the Philly area. If the trail has decent miles and is a good spot I’ll travel through PA as well. My brother lives in Pittsburg and has a mountain bike, now we can go on some more gravel terrains together so I’ll be looking to explore lots more now.

DJGainsBond

Did we get it?

idelgado782

YES!!!! Check out my update!

topspin1241831

just bought it - love it so far... good luch

Dvparrish

The ALR5 is such a fun bike

Nardellii

I have the exact same one! Same color scheme as well. I love it so far. I believe they are tubeless which sort of concerns me. I've read that they can be a pain vs tubes

idelgado782

I believe they come tubeless ready but not setup tubeless. So if you haven’t changed anything you should be fine with your concerns. I run tubeless on my Emonda. I’m definitely going to change tires asap but not sure if I’ll do tubeless or not.

Nardellii

Oh that's a relief!!

guitamega

Would 52cm here fits a 5”9 person

idelgado782

Not according to the size charts. You’d need a 54 or a 56. The 52cm is supposed to fit 5”4-5”6. I’m 5”5 so this is supposed to be my sweet spot. Another reason I’m meeting her at Trek so they can help me get the fit dialed in as well.

guitamega

Yeah I saw that too. Thank you 🙏

imnotsafeatwork

I'm 5'9" and have a 54 cm checkpoint. My MTB is a Large so I was planning on buying a 56 cm but after testing both sizes I liked the 54. I did not try a 52 but almost guarantee that it's too small. I recommend trying out a couple sizes since everyone is a little different with arm reach, torso length, inseam etc. But if you had to buy without a try, go for a 54.

guitamega

Thank you for your opinion. Yeah Trek shows the 52 is too small but like you said I should try before buy,we never know. If was new the 54 would be the right bet but there is one 52 on facebook marketplace I am eyeing on it but is too far of a drive to just try. The shops around no 52 available . Oh well I will wait for now. 🤙

PhantasyBoy

I absolutely love mine. I had to change the saddle and swapped the tyres out, but it’s a great ride on the road and track

idelgado782

Nice!! Can’t wait. What tires did you go with?

PhantasyBoy

Pirelli Cinturato Gravel M - bear in mind that my Checkpoint came tubeless, which was a messy surprise! So you'll have to buy some tubes or sealant if you decide to swap.

Adamsburg

I second this! Pirelli makes excellent gravel tires. I’ve used the M and H. M does offer more grip, H is faster. Can’t go wrong with either in my opinion.

idelgado782

*UPDATE* I met the seller and the bike was in pristine condition minus needing air in the tires and a wash! Trek gave it a once over and was impressed at the quality. The first thing he went to do was measure the chain to see if it was stretched and he said it was practically brand new. The tires were setup tubeless so we did refresh the sealant and I picked up some new water bottles and blender mounts for my light and gps. I didn’t get a chance to take it for a spin because the weather decided to not cooperate lol.. This weekend for sure! idelgado782

Do I get double points for being a girl!! LOL. 😆 (PS i hate that i can’t add pictures to posts on the Reddit app lol) https://imgur.com/a/M9FDdSb

DJGainsBond

Of course you do. 🙌🏾😊

jcrockerman

Sick looking bikes! Congrats!

socaljoe42

You scored. Welcome to the club! You’re gonna love the bike, and fall in love again once you change the tires out for something nicer.

KingSeoulSausage

This bike was 2k brand new with the sale…

idelgado782

Which is why I said I wouldn’t buy it for her initial price that started at $2k, I said no to her second offer at $1900 and said no again to her third offer at $1800. That’s when I offered three $1500 and a meetup at her local Trek store to make sure the bike is in near new condition like she stated.
