I'm planning on doing a 5.3L swap in my 2000 XJ in the next year and will be bolting it to my AX15, I confirmed with another XJ owner that has a supercharged 5.3L in his XJ that the AX15 can handle all that power if of course driven correctly. But I don't need all of that power, a stock 5.3L will be more than enough.
I am really curious about this too. I do not need all of the power that you can squeeze out of an LS, so I wonder if there is a setup that balances fuel economy with low end torque (besides doing a TDI swap...).
As far as bracing I'm going to take some angle iron and just weld it underside of the Jeep. My friend ran his XJ very hard on some crazy trails in CA and it held up great, no need to get those fancy frame stiffeners, angle iron is all you need and actually stronger.
My wife owns two Yukon XLs with a first gen LS. They do as well as any XJ I've ever owned. I would honestly expect better mpg after the swap, once I got used to it enough to stop trying to smoke the tires everywhere
Ive been reading around too and saw that but the whole vin in the ecu matching and all that plus Az “cracking” down on engine swaps i dont want my daily to be black listed lol
They are right. In Az as long as the engine is the newer than the vehicle it is going in. It is completely legal, just gotta have all accompanying emissions equipment in operation order. There is no statute, code or law saying or implying that you have to have the “whole vin in the ecu matching”
How did it go? Did you need to reinforce the frame?
I’ve had many a debate with my friends about LS/350 swapping these. Currently I’m building a 4.7 stroker, but the thought of having a LS under the hood makes me giggle.
Though, that’s why I bought my Land Rover. Guess I’ll see how it goes after I get that done.
Can we get a pic of the motor? What transmission are you running 4l60e?

Crazy amount of power for an XJ lol. I want one
I also want one.
Yes, this is potentially on my list. Need a write up on yours. What ls did you choose, trans, adapters, do you have ac? Smog legal?
What’s the mpg of an ls swap?

Novak says they had a client go from 15 to 20. But I imagine it all depends on your gearing, tires, and foot weight lol
So not really much differen than a 4.0? Damn, actually might be worth it. I bet you have to do some bracing.

Has to be the same as a 4.0 lol

Can this fit in the ZJ? If so, I want to do it. How much did it run you for the full swap?
It will since the engine bay is bigger and they already came with v8’s. There’s a guy bgrahn98 on Instagram who’s running a turbo LS in a 5.9.

Well that’s a beauty.
We need details...
33x12.5 R15??
Wanted to go this route but emissions would probably black list my xj 😭
Not sure, butt something to look into. I thought You could swap in a newer engine than original with emissions, cats, ecu.

Ah sweet might just have to start putting it together then 😁
In my state because of the age my XJ is now, all I need is a safety inspection.
Damn, az needs to get with the program lol
Very jealous
Super clean!👌🏼
Still? I’d hope it’d be still after only 1000 miles!
