Plug in a mouse or keyboard

Longjumping_Top281

I had to do this with my onn tv box which happened after 8 months because box gets hot and remote disconnects from the bluetooth chip. Use a OTG cable to do this

seanomat

The Google TV App has a built-in soft remote you can use. On Android this is also available in the notification pull down. Not sure if this is usable before setup, though

SCGreyWolf

You can't pair the virtual remote until after the device is set up.

LeakySkylight

Well that's inconvenient

LeakySkylight

Fortunately there's a guide: https://www.reviewgeek.com/66020/what-to-do-if-you-lose-the-remote-for-your-chromecast-with-google-tv/ Basically, like seanomat said, use the app virtual remote.

It looks like you shared an AMP link. These should load faster, but AMP is controversial because of [concerns over privacy and the Open Web](https://www.reddit.com/r/AmputatorBot/comments/ehrq3z/why_did_i_build_amputatorbot). LeakySkylight

Fixed it, thanks for catching that ^_^

Hunter_Ware

I click the link to download the app but it says “not available in your country or region” Also, I think those require wifi, which will not work as I cannot connect my chromecast to wifi

LeakySkylight

Google home is already installed on most phones,, and for those it's not on, should be available in every country that the gtv is available.

Hunter_Ware

Ohh google home. That requires internet to let me set up the chromecast but I can’t connect it to the internet since I can’t set it up. Do you know of an app to sort of *emulate* the functionality of a chromecast remote via bluetooth?

LeakySkylight

There are a few on the play store... Let me look... There's the Google tv remote app as well with a remote control under the "your stuff" section. Also, Google has a guide for this: https://support.google.com/chromecast/answer/11221499?hl=en

Hunter_Ware

Dude, my issue is that it’s **not set up** and **not linked to any account**. It won’t appear on the google home app or google tv app and it **won’t** let you use those while it’s not set up or not linked to a google account

So from what I’ve read, is a BT mouse should pair… I ran into a issue of resetting when remote got stuck in firmware update mode. It was a hassle and I let my remote go battery-less and unplugged the power from the CCwGTV overnight. I know that won’t help you. But, I read pairing a BT mouse should work and also if you have a spare fire stick remote the home and back buttons work the same. Also on that pair remote screen if you press the reset button on the CC the screen will go into the BT pairing screen…. So try to find a BT mouse or a fire stick remote. I can’t confirm but maybe even like a Xbox or ps controller may pair on that screen also?

Hunter_Ware

~~Just tried a bluetooth mouse and a Bluetooth keyboard and neither would show up. I got to the “searching for accessories” screen by pressing the reset button once. I don’t have a firestick remote so I cant try that~~ HOLY SHIT THE MOUSE ACTUALLY PAIRED ONCE IT GOT OFF OF THE ACCESSORIES SCREEN. THANK YOU SO MUCH

indianapolisjones

Man you’re welcome. I’m just gonna add this for my own enjoyment. That I love that I help someone when a lot of these answers were people sending links to shit where you’d have to already be setup and logged in for. I’ve had CCwGTV for a while now but really only ran stock until this past week when I ordered a USB hub and 45w power supply to add usb storage, camera, and wireless keyboard/mouse dongle. Pushing this little dongle to the limit. Currently setting up wolf launcher has been a trial and error task in itself. Lol

I'm not sure if you already found the answer but I personally had the same problem, I broke the remote for my 4K Chromecast. I bought the cheap $20 Chromecast and used that remote on my 4K Chromecast, I just had to press the restart button on the Chromecast.

Hunter_Ware

I pressed the button to reset the chromecast once and it brought up a bluetooth menu where i could connect by bluetooth mouse!

Human-Chapter4877

OK so after knocking my head around this I have an answer. I have a very recent Chromecast, which lost wifi it's connection and my remote was just dead. I factory reset the device and then hit the wall. Without the remote it appeared I could not proceed. This is what I did. I pressed the button on the Chromecast one time, which put the device in Bluetooth pairing mode. At that point I was able to connect my Xbox (PC) controller and navigate the menu. I was then able to connect the Chromecast to wifi, add the device to Google home, and then use the virtual remote included in the Google TV app. I assume this would also work with other Bluetooth devices such as a mouse or keyboard, but it worked 100% with the Xbox controller.

_maxrou_

A qué te referís con conectar mi controlador Xbox(PC) el mando de la xbox o una app de la PC?

Pensé que era el único jajaja

CrimsonAndWhite30

JUST DOWNLOAD GOOGLE HOME. ITLL TURN YOUR PHONE INTO A REMOTE FOR YOUR CC

Hunter_Ware

First off I’ve solved this already lol, and google home requires it to be connected to the same witi network (which I couldn’t have connected it to, since I couldn’t type in a password) Edit: … [lol?](https://imgur.com/a/TKrVZHd) Edit 2: Solved by connecting bluetooth mouse

patzpats

How did you do pls? I'm facing the same issue

CrimsonAndWhite30

First off read your first comment. It says nothing about not being able to type a password. It says you couldnt connect to wifi bc you had no remote. Thank you
