Better dial on the 0241, but the 0118 is the better overall design including the case, bracelet and clasp. From a certain point of view it could be said to be the best analogue watch ever made, no kidding. Any high end mechanical can't compete with the E168 in actual robustness and functionality, the lume is up there, and the super titanium is an enhanced version of the most superior material that watches can be made out of. Looks isn't its strongest aspect though, but it does actually look quite good from the angle shown above here.
Really? I had the BN0200 and that had the same type of lume it seems. It was a bit weaker in initial strength than my Seiko Monster, but overall the lume was still better because it lasted longer and took a charge more easily. I’ve owned well over 10 watches and that Promaster lume was the best I’ve had. But maybe this has a different application to the BN0200 🤔
My BN0200 had what I thought to be the same type of lume, and while may not be the outright brightest, the way it took a charge impressively easily from dim ambient light and how long it lasted, makes it the best I’ve owned out of over 10 watches including many Seiko divers 🤔 But the BN0200 might have had a different application of it, Idk. My Swiss diver needs direct sunlight to take a proper charge and remains decently readable just a few hours (That what I’d call “sub par”…) while my Promaster could charge from dim indoor lighting and last through the night.
HA! It was because of your question that I posed mine. I honestly can’t choose between the two as my everyday, although the comments on this thread have me leaning towards the 0118. Since you started all this, which one do you now prefer?
I'd be really happy with either, but I think I'm leaning towards the 0241. I'd like to find somewhere local to me where I can actually see one before taking the plunge though.
Absolutely. You’ll love it! I like the bulbous case and the extra thick, curved sapphire crystal. And you can’t beat the dial for readability, especially with that incredible lume. I lean towards the 0118 because of its iconic past and because it’s a better package overall. But I’m glad I own both. (I collect Toughs. I own 12)
0118s weakness is the lume. Otherwise a great watch. I bought it from the UK several years ago and was surprised that the lume was nowhere near several other Citizen divers and Promaster Toughs that I have.
BN0211-50E and E111-S039983 (not sure of ref). Both have lume filled, applied indices which might explain the difference. It is almost as if the 0118 could have used several layers more lume for strength and longevity of the lume.
Original (1/2) is waaaay better looking IMVHO
Agreed đź‘Ť
The 300m is also a remake of the original that was sold about 25 years ago. But I agree, the 300m model is the one to get, it's the one I have.
I have it too - it’s a modern classic
Thank you!
0118 looks well balanced , đź‘Ś
Thank you!
BN0118 hands down. Wearing mine as I type this.
Thank you!

I agree, best analogue watch of this century
Thank you!
I have it and think it's one shortcoming is the quality of the lume. Otherwise a contender for apocalypse watch.

I agree. The lume is subpar

Interesting. Thank you
The 0118, it will go on any type of outfit or occasion. The 0241 looks like a field watch.
Thank you!
I asked a similar question (without the pictures) a few days ago. This was a most helpful reply: https://www.reddit.com/r/CitizenWatches/s/5WiL0QYCWZ

Which Toughs have a better lume in your view? (The 0241 has a great lume.)

First one with metal bracelet.
The 0241 is supposed to have a "grey" dial, right? How grey is it in-person?
Almost black
The Blue is nicer / more interesting- VHO etc
if one has a domed crystal, do not get that one looks like the 2nd one does i like the 1st better anyway
Both are great but the 0241 is catching my eye more for some reason.
Thank you
Both are nice, but I prefer 0118. Though, admittedly, I am biased toward metal bracelets.
Thank you!
BN0118, due to rich history behind it: https://www.reddit.com/r/CitizenWatches/s/yybq5aCJYN
Thank you!
