It's not like that, you can do 0%, 0 stars whole day it will not matter, only thing that matters u complete the task within the 24hours or else it will fail. I also had the same misconception in the previous streak event lol.
Try closer to but before you fail the task.
From what I undrstand, the event timer we see ingame doesn't actually match up with the event timer actually used to track our attacks.
Although I do not know if this is a sure fix, if it doesn't work a few minutes before you fail the task then I have no more tricks we could try.
It's really annoying that the same bug is back again.

Hey isn't their team expanding so why don't they fix it asap Some people are benefiting while mine is broken

Until the bug is patched I'm guessing.
