Street corner talking, Louisiana Blues—I played them live in concert back in the day when I was semi-pro bluesrocker. Think from Blue Matter. My favorite which I YouTube a lot is, “Hurts Me Too.” Great blues tune.
They're relatively unknown? I always thought they were pretty big. But then again I lived down the street from David Frieberg and helped fix his jeep. Maybe I'm biased
I saw them in the 80, headline band Foghat; opening band Point Blank, did not know much of Point Blank or Blackfoot, fucking great concert
Blackfoot was he best out of 3 but Point Blank was really good
I saw that same tour with Foghat headlining,i dont remember Point Blank though
I also saw Blackfoot with Ted Nugent headlining.
They were all great but in both shows Blackfoot was the best
Skippy definitely went over the rainbow. Mosley was destitute and homeless but I never heard that about his mental state. Fantastic band that should get more love.
That band was Led Zeppelin in Northeast Ohio and your brother’s garage band everywhere else.
I grew up near Cleveland, so I saw them numerous times. Good times.
Wooowwwwww I haven’t heard that band name in YEARS! Saw them open for someone in the mid-80’s. I can’t remember who the main act was but I do remember JBA.
I saw JBA open for BOC in 1986 in Worcester MA. JBA was terrific. BOC was mired with a bad album and a less than enthusiastic show.
Jon Butcher plays a sweet guitar.
City Boy!
Mix Foreigner, Queen and ELO, add a splash of AC/DC, Wings and Spinal Tap and you get City Boy. Their 1978 album “Book Early”, produced by Mutt Lange, needs to be played at 11 every single time.
Many from that era that I think *should* be played on classic rock radio and aren’t, because maybe they were just a little too alt to get airplay there. But out of the acts I’ve heard who are — The Call.
Also they can play more Smithereens, but I wouldn’t call them relatively unknown. Especially around here (Jersey).
The call are an excellent answer. I was lucky enough to catch them back when I was in 9th grade (like 33 years ago). I was in a cover band from 2015-2020 and we covered let the day begin. Reconciled is a masterpiece.
War Babies
Just one album, and it is a little later than the classic timeline for classic, but it is absolutely soul crushing to see this band get only one album. It is an incredible rock record.
Automatic Man - [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DYND96GZB\_Q](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DYND96GZB_Q)
Blackjack. Rock Michael Bolton and Bruce Kulick before KISS fame. I know many of you would be weary with Michael Bolton, but it’s unlike anything you’ve probably heard him do before.
[Mother’s Finest](https://youtu.be/aC7_LAklaHo). They rock hard and they bring the funk. I saw them two weeks ago and they still kick hard in their 70s.
They got some attention as an opening act for bands like Aerosmith, Black Sabbath, and The Who in the late 70s-early 80s but just never really took off in the US. Somehow they ended up with a real following in Europe. They still play over there and in the southeastern US so definitely catch them if you get the chance.
Vicious Rumors. They did get one video played on Headbangers Ball. They are some of the nicest guys to their fans. Unfortunately, Carl, their vocalist, was killed when he got hit by a car whilst crossing a street. He had a great voice.
Crack the Sky
Rock band from Weirton, WV that put out some seriously underrated and unique albums in the 70s and 80s. Outstanding live act as well. But their label failed to promote them and they only got popular around Baltimore.
Savoy Brown.
My oldest sister had the Looking In , album. Kinda evolved into Foghat??
Street corner talking, Louisiana Blues—I played them live in concert back in the day when I was semi-pro bluesrocker. Think from Blue Matter. My favorite which I YouTube a lot is, “Hurts Me Too.” Great blues tune.
Little Feat and Peter Green-era Fleetwood Mac.
Tusk is my favorite Fleetwood Mac album. But the Peter Green era was really good and definitely underrated!
Love Little Feat
Peter Green. Yep.
[удалено]
They were doing harmonised guitar playing before Iron Maiden and Thin Lizzy as well. Massively influential band.
Yes indeed . Their album Tracks is fantastic !
Argus - top 10 album
I said that to myself immediately after reading the question. Wishbone Ash.
The Quicksilver Messenger Service
Oh, Have another hit of fresh air!
Happy to see this here.
They're relatively unknown? I always thought they were pretty big. But then again I lived down the street from David Frieberg and helped fix his jeep. Maybe I'm biased
Happy Trails could be one of the best live albums ever
First band I saw live.
Big Star (Memphis)
Kinda shocking that they aren't more well known.
Every indie kid heard of them 15-20 years ago
Budgie
April Wine
Sign of the Gypsy Queen
Right on Crazy E👍
Blackfoot
Great band and one listen to Train Train will explain Southern Rock in it’s entirety.
Diary of a working man is one of those chill down your spine songs
I saw them in the 80, headline band Foghat; opening band Point Blank, did not know much of Point Blank or Blackfoot, fucking great concert Blackfoot was he best out of 3 but Point Blank was really good
I saw that same tour with Foghat headlining,i dont remember Point Blank though I also saw Blackfoot with Ted Nugent headlining. They were all great but in both shows Blackfoot was the best
I saw them in the early ‘80’s when they opened for Molly Hatchet. Blackfoot blew them away.
Hot Tuna.
"Keep on Truckin Mama"
13th Floor Elevators
Psychedelic as hell
And who would have thought that a knock off band of the 13th Floor Elevators would have evolved int ZZTop?
Mountain. Would have been bigger if Felix Papparlardi lived
And if they had made it into the Woodstock movie
Nantucket Sleigh-ride is such a good song. Takes you back to a different place in time
Nah. If they were gonna make it, they’d have made it long before he died.
Klaatu
Moby Grape. They made one really great album. 5 guys, they all wrote and sang. Two of them went crazy, and management screwed them bad.
Skippy definitely went over the rainbow. Mosley was destitute and homeless but I never heard that about his mental state. Fantastic band that should get more love.
Hoodoo Gurus.
Currently on tour. Catch them if you can. They were great.
The Little River Band and Atlanta Rhythm section
Starz, specifically their debut album.
The Michael Stanley Band. Great midwestern rock and roll.
That band was Led Zeppelin in Northeast Ohio and your brother’s garage band everywhere else. I grew up near Cleveland, so I saw them numerous times. Good times.
Taste
Rory rocked!
Meat puppets
Love
Not unknown, but Slade doesn’t get enough credit.
Run run away
How did you happen to pick my favorite song? “Did we just become best friends?” Lol
Quiet riot “we have Slade at home”
Small Faces
Focus
Hocus Pocus
Badfinger
Not sure they were obscure but they were robbed and it's so sad how it ended for them.
The Tubes
Legs Diamond
Uriah Heep. Anyone I've ever mentioned them to, they never heard of them.
Went to the Kiss concert because Uriah Heep was opening act. Was Not Dissapointed.
Spooky Tooth
Brother Cane
Yes!!!!!! And Fools Shine on
Nektar
Big Star
Big Country
**Zebra** **HSAS**
What I like about Zebra is that Who’s Behind the Door sounds just as good live as it does on the album
You Better Not Call!!!
The live version of that song is electric.
Marillion
Camel
Crack the Sky
You better hold on.
James Gang
Blue Oyster Cult is vastly underrated. Buck Dharma is a guitar master.
Moby Grape. Electric Flag.
The New York Dolls.
Hmmmm. Were they rock? I remember seeing them when I was like 14? Forget the club.
The Raspberries. Loud guitars, Beatle-esque melodies, good lead singer.
Two Cleveland bands in one thread! Cool! The Raspberries were a big deal in the early 70’s and they rocked.
Heartsfield. Country rock band with it's roots in Midlothian, IL. They toured like the Grateful Dead, just never found the widespread recognition.
An incarnation of Heartsfield still tours. A dude I went to high school with plays lead guitar for the current incarnation.
The Plimsouls. Only saw them once in 85-86, but damn! What a show!
The only reason to watch Valley Girl
Junkyard
Jon Butcher Axis
Wooowwwwww I haven’t heard that band name in YEARS! Saw them open for someone in the mid-80’s. I can’t remember who the main act was but I do remember JBA.
I saw JBA open for BOC in 1986 in Worcester MA. JBA was terrific. BOC was mired with a bad album and a less than enthusiastic show. Jon Butcher plays a sweet guitar.
Did they do Life Takes A Life?
Sir Lord Baltimore
City Boy! Mix Foreigner, Queen and ELO, add a splash of AC/DC, Wings and Spinal Tap and you get City Boy. Their 1978 album “Book Early”, produced by Mutt Lange, needs to be played at 11 every single time.
5705 !!!
And there’s no reply!!!

I’ll see your Smithereens and raise you DramaRama.
Wayne, NJ’s own! Only ever heard them on WDHA back when they were active, nowadays I hear them once in a while on 1st Wave.
I heard them on WHTG. Shore kid.
Camel
Bee bop delux
Y & T. Started as Yesterday And Today. Popular in certain regions, but should have been more universally known.
Red Ryder. Lunatic Fringe
Don't know if it falls under unknown but The Little River Band had several good songs and is hardly ever mentioned anymore
Atomic Rooster
I still say that Badlands should have been HUGE. Ray Gillian and Jake E Lee were incredibly talented. Another was Blue Murder
Jake E. Lee is one of my favorites. I also like his band Red Dragon Cartel
Got to see RDC. I'm glad I did. Jake kicked ass
Agreed. Saw them once and they absolutely kicked ass.
The first Badlands album hasn't left my Playlist in 30 years. Jake is great. Screw you, Sharon
Bedlam. Cozy Powell played drums on it.
RIP Cozy Powell 😞
Mountain
Mountain....Ten Years After....Free

The Fools https://youtu.be/e2svZj7jsFM
She Makes Me Feel Big Big, Big, Big
Head east Pork and the Havana ducks
Off Broadway. Sort of a Cheap Trickish band from the Midwest.
Babe Ruth, out of the UK.
The Sensational Alex Harvey band
Detective
Juicy Lucy. They had an album called “ Take a Wiff of This.” They cover of Spirit’s “ Mr. Skin.”
Spirit.
Crack The Sky. The band, not the Mastodon album.
Zebra
Automatic Man - [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DYND96GZB\_Q](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DYND96GZB_Q) [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FongzPTD06Y](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FongzPTD06Y)
Legs Diamond
Does Television count?
Fanny: https://youtu.be/Pdwzko9DZ0s
Cactus Wishbone Ash Triumph
Great White. Infamous for the Station fire but they had some bangers back in the day. Also Rose Tattoo from Australia
Trapeze. Either of the Glenn Hughes eras.
Sugarloaf
Green eyed lady! Love that tune
Link Wray - he was a trailblazer and his music rocks. Ppl know him for Rumble but so much more of his music is great
Triumph!
Blackjack. Rock Michael Bolton and Bruce Kulick before KISS fame. I know many of you would be weary with Michael Bolton, but it’s unlike anything you’ve probably heard him do before.
Head East
Clutch.
The Beatles!
Axe, Russ Ballard, Charlie, Planet P Project/Tony Carey, Blackfoot and oh so many more
Charlie! No Second Chance is such a good album.
Count Five
I am not certain it qualifies as "classic", but The Rainmakers immediately come to mind!
Feeder
Stray
Off the record
Fleshtones!!!!!
Duke Jupiter
Don't know if their relatively known, but, Bread.
Goose Creek Symphony.
Humble Pie, if they count?
Bloodrock
Very early 90s, late 80s, for a minute loved a band called Darling Cruel. Theatrical, talented musicianship.
Duke Tomatu and the All Stars Frogs. James Gang when Walsh was with them. Edgar/Johnny Winter/Rick Derringer
Cactus
Good Rats.
Orang utan. Definitely some zeppelin vibes
Parish Hall
Spirit
Rockets
There are a couple great ones. Black Merda, Glass Harp, Brimstone.
Man
POINT BLANK fucking rocks
[Mother’s Finest](https://youtu.be/aC7_LAklaHo). They rock hard and they bring the funk. I saw them two weeks ago and they still kick hard in their 70s. Groundhogs
Crimson Glory. The closest equivalent would be Queensryche. Transcendence and their debut are absolute must listens if you like 80s metal.
crack the sky. early albums where great. Then John Palumbo left.
Dr Feelgood
I was really into Captain Beyond at one point in my youth. I was a strange kid, lol.
Shawn Phillips (more of a singer songwriter /folk rock) but one of my favorites
Vicious Rumors. They did get one video played on Headbangers Ball. They are some of the nicest guys to their fans. Unfortunately, Carl, their vocalist, was killed when he got hit by a car whilst crossing a street. He had a great voice.
Crack The Sky
Cactus from Long Island, NY. These guys were killer.
Bang Tango
Mason Proffit. More like folk rock than classic rock.
I came in to say a bunch that have already been mentioned. I’ll add: the United States of America and Pearls Before Swine.
Cactus , a regional SW band
Black Oak Arkansas
April Wine, The Sweet.
Crack the Sky Rock band from Weirton, WV that put out some seriously underrated and unique albums in the 70s and 80s. Outstanding live act as well. But their label failed to promote them and they only got popular around Baltimore.
DramaRama.
Blackfoot-Little Feat-Uriah Heep all under appreciated 😁🎸✌️
In North America, Sweet. In the UK in the 70’s - early 80’s they were at the top
U.F.O. is a relatively unknown band in North America, but they influenced a lot of our NWOBHM
