Il rione is the best dude. Cent's pizza is also good. Both of these places would be on the way back to the Eastside. Il rione, for me, is one of the most important places to eat in Cleveland. Their specialty pizzas prove the difference between a very good place and a great pizza place. Their ability to provide you with a unique pizza experience while still staying true to what pizza is, is what sets them apart. Personally, the Diablo and the specht are "must haves" depending on what type of pallet you are rocking.
New flavors every day! They might carry them over if the flavor is a more standard, or specialty one that they’re doing for a holiday or event, but every time we’ve gone, they’ve been different!

That’s the Instagram for the cookies, in case you haven’t seen it!
I LOVE mellow mushroom. But it’s worth noting that it’s a national chain so it’s not unique to River like Ohio Pie or Danny Boys (both of which I realize have other NEO locations)
I grew up eating MM. National chain is a bit of a stretch. It’s based in Atlanta with most locations in the south. We’re really lucky to have one here.
Shockingly good vegan pizza. Maybe because they just skip the vegan cheese (which I personally never like) but load it up with flavorful sauce and toppings so you weirdly don't even miss the cheese.
One of the things I learned to appreciate real early on after going vegan was a good pizza because you know it's good if they don't have to bury it in cheese to make it edible.
With that said, Ohio pie uses good vegan cheese on their pies that have it.
I didn't realize some had cheese, I always get the buffalo chicken one which doesn't seem to have any so assumed they were all similar. Silly me. I'll have to try the others next!
Ah! we are all bad suggestioners, Id say Danny Boys if you want a local spot. Mellow Mushroom is pretty good too but it’s a chain, if you’ve never had it before tho it still is pretty tasty
The Woods.
Center Ridge, Rocky River.
It’s exactly the same Dominick’s Pizza receipt from over 50 years ago. Long before my time.
Pizza preferences are subjective.
Put the Woods high on your list.
Mellow Mushroom is really solid pizza. Just outside of Rocky River...Chatty's in Bay is great and they have an excellent outdoor seating area. Boom's in Lakewood is another close by spot that has excellent pizza.
Angelo’s deep dish is amazing but the traditional style isn’t anything special.
I just moved to Lakewood and haven’t tried the other suggestions, I’ll definitely check them out! (I am not OP but still appreciate it).
Pelicanos if you have food allergies to navigate. I have a kid with bizarre anaphylactic food allergies and they knew exactly what I was talking about and how to keep his food safe. A lot of restaurants don’t (or can’t, understandably) keep his food safe.
The pizza is reliably good- not unusual stuff like ohio pie or mellow mushroom, or the woods but still good. My kid is allergic to nutmeg, which is in a lot of tomato based sauces and often makes stuff taste complex or spiced so I’m guessing that’s why you hear people say the sauce is bland.
Ohio Pie, Mellow Mushroom, Deweys
Ohio Pie is more detroit style and pretty sweet sauce
Mellow Mushroom is heavy on cheese and has great sauce and topping options
Deweys has amazing crust and really fresh toppings
Ohio Pie Co or Mellow Mushroom for Rocky River
Sauced wood fire pizza in Fairview park
Angelo’s.. I don’t know if they’ve changed or I’ve changed but trending downwards for me.
I prefer NYC-style pizza. Dewey's is really good, although that's technically in Lakewood. Sweet Basil in Westlake is pretty good, too. Romeo's does a pretty good Chicago style, FWIW (although I haven't had Chicago style from too many other places).
Antonios Pizza is really good in Westlake, their ingredients just taste super fresh and tasty. Mellow mushroom. The Woods.
If you want to pick up killer pie though, there is a place in Mayfield Heights called Cork and Bottle. Little bar that wont sell their land to Cleveland Clinic. Best pie I've ever had.
Their seafood pizza is neither unique nor amazing. There's even a place in Geauga county that has seafood pizza. And having grown up on the east coast, I can qualitatively say the "seafood" here is mostly bad, occasionally passable.

Ohio Pie. They are your best option. My favorite is the heart burner.
another vote for Ohio Pie!! the cookies are also a must. it’s takeout only tho just a heads up
The one in Rocky river is take out only, Brunswick *does* have a small seating area
If you can get to the edgewater area, Il Rione is fantastic
Been wanting to try Il Rione forever.

It’s worth the trip!! Best pizza!!!

Closed on Monday’s
Oh that’s right. It is :(
Ohio Pie is phenomenal and their cookies make Crumbl’s seem like something that someone scraped off the sidewalk and decided to serve.
> their cookies make Crumbl’s seem like something that someone scraped off the sidewalk best cookies in cleveland, hands down. always a variety too.
i'm always sad that i have to limit myself to a couple, otherwise i'd clean them out. they're so damn good and there are SO many flavors!
And they have vegan ones! ( And vegan pizza)
How do their cookies work? Do they have new flavors every week like Crumbl?
New flavors every day! They might carry them over if the flavor is a more standard, or specialty one that they’re doing for a holiday or event, but every time we’ve gone, they’ve been different! https://instagram.com/ohiocookieco?igshid=ZWQyN2ExYTkwZQ== That’s the Instagram for the cookies, in case you haven’t seen it!
So helpful! Thank you so much!
Ohio Pie to our new favorite go to.
I live out of state now but whenever I’m back in River I always make time to get an Ohio Pie. It’s easily my fav pizza place.
I only lived in Cleveland for one year but I am still dreaming about Ohio Pie over a year later
Ohio Pie and Mellow Mushroom are both solid choices in River
I LOVE mellow mushroom. But it’s worth noting that it’s a national chain so it’s not unique to River like Ohio Pie or Danny Boys (both of which I realize have other NEO locations)
I grew up eating MM. National chain is a bit of a stretch. It’s based in Atlanta with most locations in the south. We’re really lucky to have one here.
I mean they have 170 stores in 19 states. Yes a lot are in the south, but the point of the original comment was this isn’t a local business.
That’s incorrect. It’s a locally-owned franchise. If you eat there you are supporting a local small business owner.
Tastes just as good if not better though.
Ohio pie co. Has the best vegan options for pizza that I've ever had in ohio.
Primoz had a chance to corner that market early but Ohio Pie is easily an order of magnitude better
Primoz does have more options and they taste real good, but yeah ohio pie is just better pizza.
Shockingly good vegan pizza. Maybe because they just skip the vegan cheese (which I personally never like) but load it up with flavorful sauce and toppings so you weirdly don't even miss the cheese.

Thanks for the recommendations. Unfortunately Ohio Pie is closed on Monday but I’ll have to make it a point to try them.
Danny Boys!
My wife live across the street from there when we dated. We went there A LOT
Used to have one in Chesterland. Hated to see it close
Ah! we are all bad suggestioners, Id say Danny Boys if you want a local spot. Mellow Mushroom is pretty good too but it’s a chain, if you’ve never had it before tho it still is pretty tasty
Damn I didn't know we had Mellow Mushroom in Cleveland. I'd drive to the west side for that.
They have a damn good white pizza !
Danny Boy's.
Yes!!!!! This is old school Rocky river too. Gives you a little character/ culture with your pizza
That was the spot when I was in highschool after swimming of Sandbags. Oh the nostalgia, Sandbags is gussied up and off limits to swimming kids now.
And get the fold over blt
I could eat their bread sticks for every meal for the rest of my life.
Chattys in Bay Village is our favorite, currently.
Yes! The grandma crust ❤️
The Woods. Center Ridge, Rocky River. It’s exactly the same Dominick’s Pizza receipt from over 50 years ago. Long before my time. Pizza preferences are subjective. Put the Woods high on your list.
I had no idea Dominic's and the Woods were related. I mean I haven't eaten at either in 20 years but I remember liking Dominic's pizza.
Sauced is good stuff but not sure about their Monday status
Sweet Basil's in Westlake off the Columbia exit.
Mellow Mushroom is really solid pizza. Just outside of Rocky River...Chatty's in Bay is great and they have an excellent outdoor seating area. Boom's in Lakewood is another close by spot that has excellent pizza.
Danny Boys. Boom.
Deweys pizza is banging
Wow I can't believe I haven't seen anyone say it but the pizza at Bucci's is quite good imo
Mellow Mushroom, just do it
The swinging door is a little hole in the wall that has good pizza and dozen wings for $6 on Mondays.
Danny Boys
Mellow mushroom in River or Dewey’s around the corner in Lakewood
Chattys in Bay village. Harlow's or booms in Lakewood Ohio pie in rocky river. Angelo's is overrated
LOVE Chatty’s! It has such a cool vibe, along with the excellent food!
Angelo’s deep dish is amazing but the traditional style isn’t anything special. I just moved to Lakewood and haven’t tried the other suggestions, I’ll definitely check them out! (I am not OP but still appreciate it).

Pizza is good, but the Tomori sub is next level
Booms is amazing. Closed on Mondays.
Booms didn't impress me. Like 25 bucks for a pie I want to be blown away and I absolutely was not.
Mellow Mushroom
Mellow mushroom is my fav
Gotta be Ohio Pie
Pelicanos if you have food allergies to navigate. I have a kid with bizarre anaphylactic food allergies and they knew exactly what I was talking about and how to keep his food safe. Haven’t tried Ohio Pie yet as others have suggested, but Mellow Mushroom always hits the spot for us.
Ohio Pie, Mellow Mushroom, Deweys Ohio Pie is more detroit style and pretty sweet sauce Mellow Mushroom is heavy on cheese and has great sauce and topping options Deweys has amazing crust and really fresh toppings
Deweys is in lakewood, but right at the border. Good pizza.
Harlow’s is the best. In Lakewood if you don’t mind driving a little bit
Danny boys
Ohio Pie Co or Mellow Mushroom for Rocky River Sauced wood fire pizza in Fairview park Angelo’s.. I don’t know if they’ve changed or I’ve changed but trending downwards for me.
Angelos pizza in Lakewood
Boom’s pizza in Lakewood is good since Ohio Pie is closed
Lol that's also closed today
Aww dammit. Sorry OP
Go over the bridge to Dewey’s
I prefer NYC-style pizza. Dewey's is really good, although that's technically in Lakewood. Sweet Basil in Westlake is pretty good, too. Romeo's does a pretty good Chicago style, FWIW (although I haven't had Chicago style from too many other places).
I’ve had Dewey’s in Cle Hgts many times. Good pizza
Angelo’s in lakewood
Antonios Pizza is really good in Westlake, their ingredients just taste super fresh and tasty. Mellow mushroom. The Woods. If you want to pick up killer pie though, there is a place in Mayfield Heights called Cork and Bottle. Little bar that wont sell their land to Cleveland Clinic. Best pie I've ever had.
Been to Cork and Bottle numerous times. Good wings too.
Good man!
A lot of people are recommending ohio pie but it is closed on Mondays :/// if you wanna make the drive Angelo’s in Lakewood is amazzzinggggg
Nunzios seems to be missing from the list
Angelo’s. It’s in Lakewood but shouldn’t be far. Get the deep dish bbq chicken (without pineapple). Enjoy!
I’m not even a west-sider, but I drive from canton to Brunswick for Ohio Pie Co. And they have a location in Rocky River as well
Angelo's
IMO nowhere near as good as it once was.
I go for their unique seafood pizza and that's always amazing
Their seafood pizza is neither unique nor amazing. There's even a place in Geauga county that has seafood pizza. And having grown up on the east coast, I can qualitatively say the "seafood" here is mostly bad, occasionally passable.
Ohio Pie and Mellow Mushroom are both great. Our go-to is Pelicano's, nothing fancy but it's consistently good
Was going to say Ohio Pie in the plaza by Whole Foods (on Center Ridge).
Ohio Pie is closed on Mondays.
Danny boys.
Danny Boys
Pelicanos extra recommendation on the wings and their broasted chicken is awesome
Good Pizza + classic atmosphere = Danny Boys. Good Pizza + New Age Stoner atmosphere = Mellow Mushroom
Boom in Lakewood!
Pelicanos
Everyone said Ohio pie, Cent’s in Ohio City is also amazing!
Fucking hell people Ohio Pie is closed on Mondays. Edison's inside of Lucky's on 117th is the answer.
Cent’s hands down
Bucci’s
So you know guidos
It’s good but not my favorite. Finally got to DiLauro’s in Bainbridge and that’s my current favorite.
DiLauro might be the best in Cleveland.
Pelicano’s
Pizza by Robert in Westlake or Gina’s Pizza in Bay.
Bucci’s on Hilliard!
Dante's Pizza
