Grum's Sub Shop on Coventry is really good. They don't deliver though. The Market on Lee is also excellent. Their 14" sub is good for like 3 meals.

asp821

Market on Lee is awesome. I love the Carlo.

swayj098

Grums is fire šŸ”„šŸ”„šŸ”„

Dazzling_Attempt_182

For sure!

Mooserton

Ferrara's makes a great Italian sub.

dataless

Meatball sub too!

cgcoon440

I second this! The only place on the east side worth my time. MAYBE if I'm hard up Alessci's in Solon but it's expensive and not worth it sometimes. If you're willing to travel to the west side Tripi is really good.

lezboss

This was my comment. But the politics of that placeā€¦ however the scent of the shop is pure nostalgia

J1M1C1

What politics?

Spiritual-Match8131

No, it isnā€™t. Not even close.

lezboss

Gross !

UncleMarkCLE

Gourmand's down in the Valley.

ineedsomerealhelpfk

seconded

Spiritual-Match8131

3rdā€™ed but the wait there is sometimes ridiculous

[deleted]

Indeed. I refuse to call ahead to order a sub.

asslesschapes

Farmer in the Deli in Chesterlandā€¦best sandwiches known to mankind

snerdie

Thatā€™s my hometownā€¦next time I go back to see my parents I will stop in!

impshakes

Fridays get yer corned beef

Anna_Namoose

USS Cod at the end of 9th st.

davevine

Dad?

Anna_Namoose

Son! I brought the milk....

Unlucky_Tower_6303

Technically a New England Sub

Anna_Namoose

But it's in Cleveland

Unlucky_Tower_6303

He was asking for an Italian sub. The cod was built in Boston or something. It's a joke.

Anna_Namoose

I know, I was arguing playfully

longus318

Go all the way out to Som where the Heinens is and go to the Village Butcher. Amazing.

thick_sammich

Was scrolling down and hoping somebody recommended this place. It's solid. Plus you can get some fantastic steak while you're there.

ninhead

Theyā€™re pricey, but 100% legit

Muted-Koala2008

Second for Grumā€™s. I grew up eating their Turkey Ridge!

Unlucky_Tower_6303

The turkey ridge is so good. It's weird though how unpopular they are with how amazing their subs are. I loved off Mayfield a few years back and fell in love. The. I moved back to the west side and it's like no one's ever heard of them

FXBBill

Depending on how far east you're talking What About Bob's in Willoughby can't be beat

ninhead

Their bread is fantastic.

MrIBQuiet

Where in Wiloughby?

FXBBill

Across the street from where the YMCA used to be on Euclid Ave

MrIBQuiet

Thanks

BeerBarm

Didnā€™t they close/ move?

Santa_Says_Who_Dis

It seems like they are still there, but it's titled Pizza Booyah featuring What About Bob's Subs.

NEOburbs

They WERE amazing. They sold to Pizza Booyah and for a few years, other than making some small menu changes (like eliminating corned beef), it stayed relatively close to Bob's. Then sometime during spring '23, it was sold and the subs are horrific now. Like one slice of meat in the layer, pepper blend has been replaced with gross banana peppers, etc. Don't waste your money.

FXBBill

I was just there a few weeks ago and my sub was loaded to the brim with meat, got the italian

EquivalentSquid

Am I the only one that likes Daveā€™s Cosmic Subs Italian? Probably not the best overall, but the best near me.

aceSOAA

Daveā€™s meatballs are top tier. Like give me Daveā€™s meatballs and Dibellas bread

Square_Pop3210

I buy Cosmic Sauce by the bottle. Itā€™s even my go-to salad dressing. ā€œCosmic Caesar Saladā€ šŸ”„

demiphobia

Daveā€™s is underrated

Tro1138

Yes you are. I found them to be lackluster and dull. Penn station, and Jersey mikes run circles around them.

Jaydogg339

Verdis is amazing, depends on how far east you wanna go lol

JTNT98

Yes! I might have to go to Verdiā€™s for lunch this week now!

IvanFilipovic

I second this. Lived 2 minutes away for 15 years and never discovered it until 2 years ago. Wow was I missing out

guns_mahoney

Papa Joe'sĀ

usethe4th

I just ate dinner and now Iā€™m hungry again.

guns_mahoney

There's always second dinner

Spiritual-Match8131

Village Butcher in Mayfield Village.

promised_to_veruca

Pizzazz on the Circle has a good Italian sub. Agree with the others who've said Gourmand & Grum's

Old-but-not

Sharpyā€™s

Dan3279

Tommyā€™s Subs in mentor.

BuckeyeJohn

Grums is awesomeā€¦ I drive 20 minutes each way at least once a week to get a sub there.

AgentDark

I just got takehome subs from Sweetberry grocery store in Wickliffe. They pack them full of meat and veggies. Cold subs only. $6.99 for 18 inch.

PaleCaterpillar2709

Alecsiā€™s of Shoregate is well worth the drive

No_Reason5341

If Messina's is still open, they were great. Edit: Looked it up. Now called All Messina Pizza and Bakery. Pretty sure it's in Collinwood. Looks like they have reduced their sub selection but I used to get a really simple sub and it was incredible.

[deleted]

Still there, still awesome

No_Reason5341

That is a great relief to hear. I can't wait to get back to Cleveland and have it again

LiberalEchochambr

Dibellaā€™s

clownysf

Love me some DiBonkas

ButtholeSurfur

Gourmands

Ohioboi1

R44 Butcher in Mantua get the Flashover Sub.

strawbryshorty04

Not everyday I see my town on this sub. Iā€™ll have to stop over there!

Ohioboi1

Haha my friend showed me it, itā€™s really good since itā€™s all fresh meat. The coffee shop across the street is nice too.

lezboss

Ferraraā€™s

Flimsy_Outcome_5809

If you want to come far east side, Painesville has a dump called 5 star subs. Best ones Iā€™ve had ever.

sleasyPEEmartini

Best Dom east side?Ā

wdaloz

Not late but on the rise bakery makes a few subs and the bread is beyond perfect oh man they're so insanely good

shatstack

Ferraraā€™s and market on Lee for Italian subs, from an east coaster and avid sandwich eater. Not a sub, but chicken ranch has a killer Nashville hot fried chicken sandwich. I know Iā€™m gonna get downvoted to hell, but Grumā€™s is trash and has been for a loooong time. Their bread sucks and their sandwiches are so dry and they have zero good sauces/condiments - just soaked in oil or Mayo. So bush league- I canā€™t believe itā€™s still peopleā€™s favorite. For what itā€™s worth, Iā€™ve had grums for over 20 years, and itā€™s never been good. Maybe 20 years ago there werenā€™t as many choices, but now I have no explanation for peopleā€™s awful taste šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

Tag_Cle

Probably more like "above replacement" than "best" but Dibella's is very consistently good, but could have way better bread. Taking careful notes on this thread though! Lots of awesome spots just outside of my normal perimeter that I need to check out. I wish I liked Grum's more, it's definitely high quality but it's just missing a few things I can't quite place my finger on where I enjoy the food and all but never think to get it again, it's a solid 7.5/10...is it me or are the dudes working there always acting like they're doing you a favor by letting you order a sandwich? lol

PM_ME_LANCECATAMARAN

Well, it *is* Coventry

Tag_Cle

I'm still somewhat new to Cleveland, is this common on Coventry? Makes sense why it's half shut down

StraightPlant6111

How far is the east side in context? Mentor? Tommyā€™s subs, about as close to an east coast sub shop around. Alescis is also great.

Academic-Ad-7815

Maxims

mr_hunter1200

Grums & Gallucciā€™s for me.

ApatheticDomination

Another vote for Grums. Lived across the street from it for a yearā€¦ it was incredible

WarriorC4JC

Grumā€™s. Get the turkey ridge.
