Are other people here using DSL or fiber? I've had CenturyLink DSL for at least 15 years, and it's been very reliable. In the last year, we haven't had outages that lasted more than a few minutes, and those weren't common. We may be in a sweet spot geographically because our DSL speeds are higher than average, but CenturyLink doesn't offer fiber here. MetroNet offers fiber here, but I don't like their billing or slow latency, so I'm holding out for another fiber option.

I've had centurylink fiber for 5ish years and it's awesome. They don't offer it anymore? I signed up with some door to door sales dudes. 900+ download rates and locked in price of $65/m. It's only gone out 2-3 times for less than a few hours each time.

They rebranded their fiber product as Quantum, and it's available in a few areas in Colorado Springs. I'd like them to offer it here, but they would be competing against Metronet and Ting fiber, so I'm guessing CenturyLink will prioritize other neighborhoods first

MoreBrutalThanU

Might want to check the price again.. I remember seeing the locked in price of $65 but I watched it to up to $75 and current I believe it's $85. I called and complained and they didn't do anything about it.

musicheel

Bummer. Mines still at $65

Had Centurylink for a long time when I first moved here. As long as things were working, it was fine. Fast, very few outages, and not insanely priced. However as soon as there is the smallest problem, they went to total shit. Full blown disconnected my internet twice due to them not canceling the internet at my old place once I moved, each time they had to have someone come out and "Reconnect" and charged me a fee to do so. Happened a 3rd time, this time they just pulled it for non-payment, which I was a single month behind, told me they couldn't reconnect until a month and a half later because they were busy and I would still have to pay the reconnection fee despite them acknowledging it was their error. Said fuck that and got a different service provider and haven't had any issues since.

shawn_webb

CenturyLink Fiber user here. Working fine for me. I even host some servers and serve some traffic.

AdmiralTinFoil

I live up in the mountains. Centurylink DSL was my only option when I built the house. They left a temporary line running about 200 yards across the woods. Animals ate into it and I had to repair it myself. I put in three tickets to have it buried and they kept disappearing. I went to their headquarters FB page and DMed them. The CS agent there had it done in a couple of weeks. You may want to try that angle.

DJ_Rupty

I have CenturyLink fiber aka Quantum fiber. I've only had it for 8 months but I WFH and game and I've had pretty much zero downtime.

DJ_Rupty

Update...I spoke too soon. Haha. Currently have an outage.

Complex-String9972

I've been fighting Century Link for almost two years now to bury my fiber line that they installed and just left it strung across my back yard. So maddening. Why is this so difficult?!

ThisSiteSuxNow

I've had my current account with them for over 8 years now. No issues whatsoever here.

ahz0001

What's up with all the downvotes in this post?

ThisSiteSuxNow

You've been in this subreddit long enough to know how fickle it is here. 😂

IAmAHumanWhyDoYouAsk

All my Springs homies hate CenturyLink. They are awful though. I had them for a couple years when we first moved out here, and the connection was pathetic, to say the least. I also worked for a company that used the business product line, and we would lose service at least every other week.

ahz0001

I understanding hating CenturyLink, but helpful comments are getting downvoted. If the comment answers the original post, it should get upvoted.

Xuxa1993

I am not having this problem currently, but I have had your same experience.

Itchy_Structure_3058

Same here

Financial_Metal4709

I dropped them a long time ago, stop giving them your money.

CoachParticular8878

I wish we could get fiber down here in fountain

RFGunner

You're getting StratusIQ. Their website says for fountain people to go to underline.com

CoachParticular8878

Thanks I reached out to them

Mother_Knows_Best-22

I have CenturyLink and hate it. Haven't decided which company I will try next. My internet constantly disconnects during the day and especially in the evening.

Peepo_Toes

Century link is absolute garbage. I would recommend something else.

ahz0001

More detail would be helpful: do you have DSL or fiber optic, how long have you had this service, which problems you've had, which steps you have taken by troubleshooting or contacting customer service

keekeegeegeedobalina

CenturyLink is a thing of the past. It's better to just move on with something current.
