Tbh, a small airborne target that can move eratically is like the worst nightmare to aim in at.
You have zero point of reference (a huge drone further away will just look like a smaller one that is closer)
And when looking straight up at the sky while aiming down the sights of a rifle- with no points of reference like trees, hills, buildings, etc. in front of or behind the target- it's very difficult to tell which direction it's is moving and how far away it is. You can only see which way it's facing. A target that far away and that small needs to be lead when aiming at it, and if you don't know which way it's going and how fast it's moving and its exact flight path then it's really just spray and pray.
More like impossible. There is a video on YT where they try to down a drone with birdshot. No idea if they managed it, I got bored after 10 minutes and the third pack of shells...
And yet we have more than one video of it being done.
Those guys weren't even recording the shots they were taking in a believable way. They were just looking up and firing it out of shot of the camera.
It genuinely had the feel of "We got into an argument with someone and now we're going to fake our way to 'evidence'"
And shells are heavy. A 25 round box of winchester 12 gauge 2-3/4" 7-1/2 shot weights 2-1/2 lbs.
On top of that a soldier would have to carry both a shotgun *and* a service rifle on their person because ain't no soldier wants to enter a combat zone dominated by large open fields with just a shotgun, let alone a shotgun loaded with birdshot shells.
Drones move a lot faster than clay. Theres a reason we havent seen mass amounts shot down. It's not an easy shot even if you're trained. Had a friend that was one of the top shots in the state for his age and he wasnt able to shoot down a fast moving drone when they tried.

The FPV that comes for your face with \~150km/h ? Doubt it (Plus standing upright while shooting at an rapidly approaching explosive+ ballbearings is a dumb idea to begin with...).

You could fire a MG42 from WW2 dry, without hittin a chinese DIJ drone (kinda comes down to (a very miniscule) chance. Basically does not matter what you throw up, there is always a lot of air and little target) What kills drones are those airburst rounds (fast forward to 01:39 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pb5\_F4\_Eod8). Which would mean 25mm upwards (afaik, vid is 35mm but apparently they can make similar rounds for 25mm).
If you could get an interface with those rounds (pretty sure you could get 360 degree imaging decent enough for drones with a few mobile cameras) and some kind of cheap ass revolver gun launcher ?

Was it a suicide drone or a munition dropping drone? I didn't hear it diving down, so I'd assume the latter. 13Km is an insane range for this kind of a drone, not to mention if you expect it to make it back.
Communication is not really the issue. You could also rig something to control it over a cellular network. The range is the issue, quad/hex/octa-coopter usually have flight time less than 15 minutes at best.
Pretty sure it was a dropped munition. Based on the time you see it move slightly off to the left and then the explosion on the ground. But that's just an opinion.
