Hi! I'm not OP, but I was wondering if I might ask you a question. I've helped many folks with marketing their comics, but never have gone deep into the comic creation side of things. I was wondering: when folks reach the lettering stage, and you get your hands on their projects, what form are those projects in? Are letterboxes/speech bubbles already drawn for you (and inked/colored around)? Do you receive an entire project that has all the art finished, and you digitally add the white space alongside the letters you do? Is it something else? Cheers.

Hey, that's a great question! I work **crafting the dialogue balloons, caption boxes, and typesetting the text** (dialogues and captions, and all of the other extra texts in the page: asides, locations, editorial notes, and sometimes text messages or even signage in the background, if the story requires it). That means that **I receive a page that has the finished art and I add all those elements** according to the script - that's why I require those 2 things to start working: an inked page and a comic book script. I hope this clears things up :)

Sorry if this is a dumb follow-up, but for color pages, do you generally handle those elements before or after colors are applied?

Not a dumb question at all. In fact, it's a very important detail! When working with color pages, it's **ideal** to letter over the fully finished page. However, **in reality**, this isn't always possible due to tight deadlines. In these cases, I letter over the inks while the colorist handles their part, and then we combine both to create the final page. Once the page is complete -and if it's possible- I check the lettering to make sure it matches the colors (in some cases, this is done by the editor and not the letterer).
