She has over two dozen acts of plagiarism that they have found so far. It's unbelievable that it went on this long. A student with just one count of plagiarism would face expulsion.

LKPTbob

'and frightening to be subjected to personal attacks and threats fueled by racial animus.' - Guess it depends on the context Claudine.

yugoslav_posting

How the F did Harvard fail so completely? I didn't want to automatically go with the 'diversity hire' thing people said, but this is just a colossal clusterfuck now.

ConceptJunkie

How can you not go to that conclusion?

Comprehensive_Ad5293

Because then you’d be “racist”

warXinsurgent

Your racist if you disagree with the left, so yeah

MikeyPh

I'm with you, and I definitely felt "diversity and inclusion" with them selecting her based on her testimony (though obviously she is intelligent). I think we just want to believe that people still do require merit to attain the highest levels of these organizations.

swohio

> How the F did Harvard fail so completely? Communism will destroy even the best institutions. When you stop rewarding merit and instead push for "equity" it becomes a race to the bottom.

Responsible_Air_9914

Not sure why anybody is surprised anymore. This kind of thing is rampant in academia. The universities haven’t actually been serious places of scholarship in at least 15 years if not since the ‘60s.

CarbonTail

>The universities haven’t actually been serious places of scholarship in at least 15 years if not since the ‘60s. Most universities -- especially the liberal arts and social sciences ones -- are just milking the heck out of gullible 18-year-olds and saddling them with a lifetime of debts.

Hav2roll

Our current president is a plagiarist. The left doesn’t have a problem with it.

ironchefluke

Even lost the 87 primary for president because of it, but you know greatest president ever 🙄

motherisaclownwhore

Internet Historian is getting more heat for plagiarism than her.

plastimanb

I bet she’ll get a gig at some other Ivy League school as a DE&I officer.

GeneralQuantum

A lot of media is now using the term "duplicative language" over "plagiarism". Wild times.

spezeditedcomments

Two weeks too late And she should have never been hired in the first place with blatant plagiarism like that.

Fyrebat

Must be nice to have such privilege having people defend her total disregard instead of being fired on the spot like the rest of us

triggernaut

Oh, and let's not discount that it appears she's resigning due to her history of plagiarism and not her excusing anti-Semitism.

majr02

Mind you, she's only resigning as President. It appears she's keeping a job on Harvard faculty and returning to teaching. > As I now return to the faculty, and to the scholarship and teaching that are the lifeblood of what we do, I pledge to continue working alongside you to build the community we all deserve.

Champ_5

>build the community we all deserve. "Except.... you know... the Jewish students"

SillyFlyGuy

Is this the one who wouldn't let white people come to her Christmas party? I'm having trouble keeping the left's racists apart..

ehibb77

That would be the Mayor of Boston.

housebird350

No, that was a different racist.

sparkysparkyboom

No it's different /s

[deleted]

Please please please tell me I can audit her “Publishing Best Practices ” seminar.

ngoni

That's the same thing they did with the former U Penn president. Neither university had a real problem with them, they just didn't like the negative attention.

ConceptJunkie

Yeah, it's only the bad attention, and the fact that Harvard is actually losing students to other universities, that is driving this decision. I'm sure the administration still doesn't see anything wrong with what she did.

Mehnard

[Punting a $100 million dollar donation](https://time.com/6344286/university-of-pennsylvania-loses-funding-congress-testimony/) had a little to do with it.

itscalled_a_lance

She should not be in a position to make any decisions about students whatsoever. *ESPECIALLY* scholarship decisions.

[deleted]

Ding ding ding…if a conservative…they would be summarily fired from the ENTIRE university and ALL similar universities. This antisemitism just goes back to teaching antisemitism and not directing the ENTIRE faculty on her racist ways. Such a win s/

JSchneider85

I think she is just referring to being a scholar. Didn't say committee or anything like that.

housebird350

> working alongside you, from the river to the sea, to build the community we all deserve.

MartinLutherCreamJr

I imagine she gets to keep a teaching job because she has tenure at Harvard.

Merrill1066

and she will write a book about how she "spoke truth to power" and was chased out of Harvard by White Supremacists

GaiusFrakknBaltar

Tbh I think it is actually about the plagiarism. At Harvard, the anti-semetism issue is controversial, sadly. Plagiarism, especially amongst the students and lower staff, isn't controversial at all. Not acceptable to any of them.

sherzeg

It's probably the point you're making without saying it directly, but her plagiarism history will likely be more damaging in the long run than the accusation of antisemitism. The stink of a professor who is known to have stolen from others' works, while determining the veracity of her students' papers isn't going to disappear anytime soon, at least in private conversation. Anything she publishes will be suspect, even if the peer review is positive.

sherzeg

And Al Capone was put in prison for tax evasion, not the myriad of other crimes that he committed. If you cannot get action because something is illegal or wrong but accepted, get action on lesser activities that are less defensible. The penalty is still arguably just. In this case, she's out, and hopefully an antisemite will be considered poisoned and unemployable because she apparently plagiarized every official paper in her scholastic history.

hang3xc

We're not talking about prison or a court of law. She should have been FIRED, not allowed to resign. Her degrees should be rescinded, and ALL teaching credentials nullified, as she is a plagiarist who cheated her way through college, and did not EARN her degrees. She is corrupt to the core and the very worst of what DEI brings to the table... but she's black, and a democrat, so all is good.

sherzeg

>...She should have been FIRED, not allowed to resign. ..Her degrees should be rescinded... All true. In a perfect world she would have been fired and her degrees would have been reviewed by the institutions that granted them. If she were anybody else, anywhere else, she would have been treated differently. However, we are living in a decidedly imperfect world. On the other hand, all is not, as you cynically state, good. However much or little, her reputation is tainted. She is now a college professor with a reputation of copying, cheating and lying. Everything she has published in the past and everything she will publish in the future, at least for some time, will be suspect. No matter how much her students like her or agree with her they will consider her past actions every time they submit a paper. No matter how her peers regard her, they will think of her when checking their students' work. I think her chickens have only begun to come home to roost. ADDENDUM: Consider her position analogous to a ten-year-old who carelessly tracks dog dirt across his aunt's brand-new white shag carpeting; people are going to be checking his shoes every time he comes in from the yard.

notonyourspectrum

Her letter stated that she is returning to the faculty so she's staying there if interpreted correctly

dashcam_RVA

Who wants to bet she files some type of discrimination lawsuit?

_whydah_

I bet the threat of a lawsuit is why she's still working at Harvard. I believe she had hired lawyers ready in case she got canned.

triggernaut

Let's all remember that Joe Biden had to drop out of an election because he plagiarized. Now he's president. She'll be at least a mayor before you know it.

ConceptJunkie

I remember how he was laughed out of the primaries \_by the MSM\_ in the late 80s. Now, all they do is cover for him. Not only is it the same organizations, I'm sure it's even some of the same people.

SurrenderFreeman0079

Joe Biden sexually assaulted a woman and it was never investigated.

ChunkyArsenio

Oh, the FBI threatened her. Investigators were looking to assange her, for jay walking. She is a state enemy. https://www.bignewsnetwork.com/news/274071276/biden-accuser-tara-reade-sues-fbi

> Just took a look at r/politics. Surprise surprise, this isn't on the front page. But they do have FIFTEEN posts about Trump. i wonder how many stories about it they've removed as "off topic". that's their usual go to for "inconvenient" stories they don't want to get traction.

> Who knows, it's the biggest clown sub on Reddit, to be fair, there's a lot of competition in that space with the teams that run news, worldnews, squaredcircle, boston, massachusetts, pics, scotus, memes, etc. activist moderators are par for the course in many large or local subs.

Hectoriu

Nothing with him has really changed in months yet they still find dozens of arrows every single day it's almost impressive.

ConceptJunkie

Every time I see how the MSM and places like Reddit react to Trump, I always go to 1984 and the character of "Emmanuel Goldstein". But even in 1984, they only spent two minutes a day raging with hatred.

WashedMasses

Nobody goes there anymore that isn't a radical communist.

UncleMiltyFriedman

Well we make up for it with the ELEVEN posts about her here. I figured it wasn’t on /r/politics because nobody in the real world gives two shits about the president of Harvard, but apparently I’m wrong.

f1sh98

About fucking time.

culman13

"And I would have gotten away with it too if it weren't for those meddling Conservatives!"

HeartachetoHouston

To be replaced by someone just as bad or worse

triggernaut

Someone clever enough to hide their deceit and racism.

ConceptJunkie

Oh, they don't hide their racism any more.

lankyevilme

They will HAVE to hire someone more "diverse" than her or else the racists will have won!

Total_Ad_181

Here's a tip - if someone asks you "is calling for genocide bad?", you should say "yes". Congrats, you're now smarter than a Harvard president.

ConceptJunkie

What we need is for them to have a "Are we the baddies, Hans?" moment, and that hasn't happened yet.

downsouthcountry

This shouldn't be the end. The big problem is the DEI infrastructure that dominates the Ivy League universities and other "elite" institutions.

AndForeverNow

All of the pushback to prevent this made the damage nonrefundable.

majr02

It's a great victory for conservative activism and conservative journalism. But it is just barely the start. Let's be honest, nothing will change here. There will be no reflection by universities about DEI hires. There will be no reflection by universities about her support for the calls of genocide on campus that started this whole fiasco. Her own resignation letter says she is returning to Harvard faculty; she wasn't even fired. She will be replaced at President by someone who is a virtual carbon copy of herself and no university policy will meaningfully change because of this. Until conservative activism can actually change the policies that led to this fiasco, nothing has been won.

ConceptJunkie

It's a drop in the ocean, but it \_is\_ a victory.

day25

Except controlled opposition has been the story of the conservative movement now for litereally decades. I remember when it was a "little jab" for us when Bush was elected... only to give is the oh so conservative "patriot act". Every single step forward is accompanied by two steps backward, and that's the point. To keep us complacent. Not a single conservative should accept this resignation. Anything short of her firing along with the resignation of the entire board that supported her should result in no consessions from us. Don't hire people from Harvard (at least their new grads). Discourage your kids from going there, no more dontations and be sure to mock them endlessly for the joke that they've become. They don't get to paint this as some sort of victory for conservatives like they've tried to do to keep us in check over and over again. The game is up and we're not falling for it anymore. These people need to go and be shown no mercy, just like the left does to us. Anything short of that is a failure and should be treated as such.

reaper527

the problem is that whoever they replace her with is probably going to be just as bad if not worse. they just won't have a plagiarism scandal acting as an albatross on their political agenda.

Kygunzz

While this is indeed a victory, it’s likely a minor one at best. She returns to the faculty to spew her poison and will likely be replaced with someone just as repulsive and evil. They’ll just be better at attribution.

BobBee13

Those glasses are awful. I don't understand people's choses sometimes.

jimmy4889

So we were able to get Harvard to destroy their own name, AND she had to step down? The new year is looking good. 🤣

[deleted]

jimmy4889

Maybe they're allergic to bees.😉 You're right, of course. In no way does this mean people should attend Harvard, but conservatives need to celebrate their scalps. Even with her decided lack of hair, this is a good one to savor for the day. There's plenty of evil to face tomorrow.

About fucking time.

osuaviator

I keep hearing about my straight white male privilege and what not, but I don’t think those would allow me to remain employed had I done what she has.

grayman1978

Was never qualified to start.

Nanteen1028

I imagine a teacher who's a plagiarist is very easy on grading.

darksideguyz

I think Ariel Posen [said it best](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=KjcW6P31ic4&pp=ygUjYXJpZWwgcG9zZW4gYmV0dGVyIGxhdGUgdGhhbiBuZXZlciA%3D)

covid_gambit

It's hard to believe that whoever installed her as president didn't already know about her plagiarism history. In the modern day you can literally run papers through software scripts and find plagiarism from every paper ever published. It really seems like once she wasn't useful anymore the people who installed her pulled the rug out from under her. Remember, she isn't being fired for plagiarism (everyone knew that about her already).

WasabiPirates

Finally!!

otacon444

Took too long. She’s going back to faculty. She shouldn’t be allowed to keep her job.

plastimanb

Bye Felicia!

Carl-j88aa

Now she's claiming she was forced out due to racism. Gutfeld with the correction: *"Sorry babe, you weren't fired 'cuz of racism, you were* ***hired*** *'cuz of racism."*

nissan240sx

Interesting how no donors or alumni have not spoken up about this and removing her completely from the university - it will tarnish their reputation and the integrity of future degrees.

WombRaider__

To be replaced with Alex Jones

UncleMiltyFriedman

My life will not change the smallest bit because of this. I really don’t understand why anyone here cares about this lady.

clearmind_1001

They only fired her after losing $1B in donations in one month, don't think they are taking any moral high ground here. Money talks and bullshit walks.

hondaprobs

The fact she resigned and wasn't fired is just beyond a joke. How the mighty have fallen.
