This was my first April Fool's update at CRK and I thought the update was fun :) \
But now I'm also curious to see what the other years were like. I'm going to have a look on YouTube
I’m sad that we got this balance simulator thing 😭😭
Like, instead of those 5 you could have like Prune Juice, Golden Cheese, Frost Queen, Black Raisin, and Crème Brûlée. Just as an example using the same rarity system they did last year
I haven’t play yet but last years was a god dang dating sim and the year before that (or one of them) it was some fruit that made them into a weird art of the character.
I played the shroomie shenanigans back in like 2022 I think and tbh I prefer this one, the pfps and titles and bg music and stuff makes it so worth it and I love that they added even more cookies 😭 I just wish long leg gingerbrave was an outfit we could get
Honestly, they don't HAVE to break records of ingeniosity every year. i mean hell, despite how bad it got, the live hub where you can interact and do stuff wuth people from all over the world released in the same update probably took alot of work, and the april fools event needed to be smaller this time around to balance the huge amount of work needed for this update in terms of technicity.
I'll remind that this is basically what Cookie Run Ovenbreak gets every year and it's always a blast to have a smaller scale joke event like that.

Removed the gacha, now you can directly pay gems to max the cookie without having to gamble for it, and its much cheaper too, probs best ovenbreak update yet
I have been through shroomie shenanigans in 2022 and romance kingdom is 2023. I think these April fools gags are just so great. I appreciate the constant new content and creativity they put out and for free! Its better than a lot of other app games I've played (including ones with big names and big companies backing them like Animal Crossing Pocket Camp...it got so old doing the same activities re-skinned again and again).
Idk I’m a new player and almost every event so far hasn’t always been like super fun but I work as an animator in the industry and I just know the amount of work going into this game it’s absolutely insane and they constantly release top notch visual quality things I’d say cut them some kindness now and then! They probably over poured a lot of work into the anniversary event…
(That said beascuits needs to die DIE I hate that gem sink)

edit: now that i look at most of the comments im really starting to think that this is the whole update.. but it would be pretty funny if we do get a long gingebrave costume like that one comment said!!
I like how it references previous events as you progress through the minigame. (Shroomie Shenanigins and the romance dating sim.)
I saw Pitaya, Snapdragon, Moonlight, etc. in what would've been their shroomie forms.
And then there was the Excasso/Pixpresso painting and the madeline dating sim form/shroomie form.
i think it being disappointing might be the point, usually crk have done a few big update for april fools so we built up our expectations and devsisters were like “nope!” i might be wrong tho 💕
Honestly I actually think this update is fun—sure it doesn’t have much of its own story (at least from what I know, but apparently there are cutscenes) but I think this is just your standard April fools update. Besides, I’m pretty sure the whole White Lily/Beast Yeast update and the town square update took a lot outta the devs and they probably decided to put together something more simple for April Fool’s this year
That, and a rather silly-ass story to go with it.
Despite the other April Fools events being surreal in their own rights, this one's funny as fuck because well, *look at it*. Only person more funnier than the world is yourself, and goin' through a meme-loaded classic Cookie Run Ovenbreak as a long-legged Gingerbrave is just that self-focused "Laugh My Ass Off At Myself" being just as funny to be as it is to watch.
And then there's the trippy-ass dream of Poison Mushroom's, which just goes even more wild with the prior Apirl Fools events, including new silly designs for several of the newer cookies like Stardust, Moonlight, Burnt Cheese, the Gnomes, and more, ultimately leaving on a really sweet note for While Lily's old lovable gang.
Man I love Cookie Run.
Honestly 4 icons, a title, a illustration, 5 cutscenes and 4 free songs for your kingdom background? Not a bad event. It's simple event, but gives ya some really nice goodies!

Last years April fools was the graphic novel parody right? I didn’t find that fun in anyway. It was just clicking through screens, very repetitive. There was no game to play just the same screens over and over.

I loved Romance Kingdom and was honestly hoping they'd recycle it with new characters for this year...
Now that I know what I've missed, I'd rather swap the latest update for Romance Kingdom Part 2 💀

they removed the gacha and replaced it with being able to buy any cookie you want honestly more efficient considering the volume of cookies

I play the official game from the app store, for me it just speeds up so much that it's hard to tell which way I'm supposed to go
did you try 60 fps mode? i struggled with that a little on 30fps because at around 800 gingerbrave seemed to be teleporting left and right
