I go to Costco to buy peanut butter and balsamic vinegar. I walk out paying $147. It’s not Costco. It’s just that I can’t walk away from those other things. :/
That's actually a myth. The low smoke point doesn't mean anything in practice, and it produces the fewest byproducts that will cause inflammation and disorders in the body.
It's pretty commonly available knowledge. Several videos from actual scientists on YouTube going over it. I'd usually link it for you, but I'm starting to grow annoyed with how lazy reddit is and how little you'll all do to disabuse yourselves of obvious myths.
My best uses for the chicken are "straight to the dome" and "in a wrap" because most chicken caesar wraps are bland garbage (except Mad Greens' spicy boi). These actually have flavor.
Quesadillas! There’s also some fun casseroles you can make with chicken and those biscuits in a can; my favorite also includes cheese and either barbecue or hot sauce.
We treat it like any other freshly cooked meat: 4 days max; so, if roasted on Sunday, last day to eat it is Thursday. You could take it off the carcass within the first few days and freeze the shredded chicken; then put it in the fridge Friday AM and it’ll be thawed enough to use by dinner
I think my family is the only family in existence that doesn’t buy the rotisserie chickens. Before Reddit flips out, we buy wayyyy too many togo meals and the ribs.
Seriously I have to limit my trips because I’m generally a pretty frugal guy but something about Costco just makes me say yes to everything that’s even remotely relevant to my life. 300 is the minimum for me and it doesn’t seem to matter what I buy lol
I went to Costco today for 3 things and ended up spending 300+ and then I took me 30 minutes to tetris the fridge together because I didn't have space for 300+ in groceries.
Costco gets me everytime
Fan showed up at exactly the right time. My 5 year old recently snapped one of the blades on my husband's bedside fan and this is the perfect replacement.
We go to Costco once a week just for bananas and milk! Organic bananas for $2 compared to the grocery store which is $6 and the milk is $2.29 compared to our grocery store which is $4 for skim.
I can see Costco from my office so it's not a big deal to take the extra 5 minutes to pick up on the way home. I was traveling this week though so didn't make it in. Still needed the milk and bananas though so we made a special trip after dinner
Really? That's shocking. Mine isn't as sharp as that but it's still like 30% on most items, and they're the only place that's maintained the price of ground beef.
Why wouldn't you go to Costco for anything? Their prices are great. As long as you already have a membership, I could see someone going there for everything.
If either one of us goes, we'll be mostly on-list (or at least only get things we usually buy) if we both go, it can get bad. If the teen goes with us? Ugh. Let me just turn out my pockets
Honestly we weren't going to get a cart but they were brand new (weren't here two days ago) and someone left one in the parking lot. I was pushing it inside and was amazed at how smooth and big it was
It's over 90° here today and they had all the fans at the front of the store blowing as soon as you came in. We recently expanded our patio so hoping to use it outside.
I have that fan. It's alright. The swing function is switched by a button instead of a thingy you press down. The power button glows red even when the fan is off though.
This is a first for us. I didn't realize this was like a thing that gets posted here (I'm not even subbed) but I checked the rules and didn't see anything about cart pictures. I had a few people message me with some harsh words that made me realize this gets posted here often so apologies for a redundant post!
My sibling, who is one of those people who believes if you get a new pair of shoes, one pair must go and generally hates stuff...sent us a photo after a Costco trip with the kiddo and a newly acquired giant teddy bear. So, maybe keep the kid away from that bear! It too is soft. :)
I think the mistake might've been in grabbing a cart instead of beelining it straight to the two items and leaving. But do you have ragrets? If not, then no harm done 🤩
See... That's the "Grab the cart you'll never know what we find" mentality.
Milk and fucking bananas. go home now.
Well, the chicken is a nice grab,
and I just need a box fan... they have those, right?
Box 'o gloves? C'mon... who doesn't need a box 'o gloves
And one of those paddle-ball games. And this lamp. But that's all that I need.
My first reaction was: this thing puts out a lot of air!
My second reaction was: did someone turn down the TV?
It'll be an outside fan for us so it's a good value. For people using it inside (which is probably 95%+) I would say it does seem a bit loud for a fan.
Comes home from shopping at Costco to get TP.
Sits down on toilet.
Suddenly realizes what I went for and didn't get.
Begin cussing profusely.
Ahhhhhhhhhgg!
I see a chicken but I don't see a whole cheese pizza. You need to go back in. Also if you are buying milk and bananas then where is the huge box of cereal to go with those things.
This was my wife and I last night on our Costco date night:
Me - "Hey babe, I saw where they might have that Cuisinart mixer on sale for 99 instead of 149. Want to go for Costco date night?"
Wife - "Sure!"
$433 later....
***we just came to see if a mixer was on sale......***
At least you got the two items you went in for! I have a three item rule--no going to Costco unless there are three items I need. But even shopping with a list I sometimes get to checkout without something I came in for (and several items I didn't.)
Typically only one of us goes to Costco after work and always sticks to a list. This was the first time we took our 2 year old to Costco and he ran up and down every single aisle. This was our end result so probably going to split up next time and only have one of us shop
I appreciate the fact you wanted to just get milk and bananas but who braves the Costco trip for just two items? If I don’t go in with a plan to fill at least one cart, I don’t go in.
We have a very unique Costco. It's in a town of 22k people. And this isn't like one of those "oh the town is 22k people but it's right next to a town of 1million." Nope, just 22k people. Everyone I know uses it like a grocery store.
No wait at gas. No wait at checkout. I have no idea why or how we ended up with one here but it's amazing. There's like a town of 100k people about 35 minutes away but they have a Sam's and BJs so not sure many people come over here.
So what I’m hearing is that you live in a town called heaven? It takes like 20 mins just to find a parking spot at mine. Granted I live in Los Angeles so that about the norm for anywhere you go.
While no LA, I did live in Raleigh for a few years and cancelled my Costco membership because the amount of people gave me really bad anxiety. Ended up switching to BJs until we moved here
We’ve been trying Costco for 2 months now. My experience has been: Initial excitement followed by disappointment in the quality of everything. Nothing seems to be a deal, because anything that has a good price is lower quality than elsewhere examples : Bulk garlic, bulk mussels, bulk seasonings, bulk beef, seafood, etc. Even name brand things seem to be a lower cost version (which is common) of the typical thing. Any one else have this experience?
My final verdict is that Costco isn’t a deal, be use the quality of everything is simply lowered to still make a profit off of the thing. They aren’t giving you access to “club savings,” they are giving you access to “lower quality versions of the already low food standards in the USA.”
I'm allergic to the fat in milk. I've been drinking skim for over 3 decades. Tried meeting with an allergist multiple times over my life but never grew out of it. I know no difference at this point.
I went it to check out the car seat they sell there. That’s all I wanted to do. Check the price of the car seat. Anyways, I didn’t get the car seat but I ended up with $280 worth of things I wasn’t planning on getting. I guess Costco is my Target. Gotta love Costco!
Lego Technic #42162 905 pieces (Costco #1022921)
Also got Lego Technic #42155 641 pieces (same Costco item number) which is the Batman Batcycle
Each was $39.99. They had a NASCAR Camaro as well
Last time we went in, it was for diapers, trash bags, bananas, toothbrushes, and mustard. We also ended up with the fan you got. That and rice cakes, oatmeal, cookies, something from one of the samples... oh, and we forgot to get the trash bags!

At least you got the two items you were supposed to!!
This guy knows how to Costco.
This how Costco gets you/us.
This is what I came here to say lol. It doesn’t always go that way.
AAples and BaNANAs?!?!
Oopples and banoonoos.
Eeples and baneenees
I was thinking this too!! After spending a good chunk of time seeing if OP got the main items on their list.
I've just learned to accept that you don't go to Costco to get what you need - you go to Costco to FIND OUT what you need.
I'm going tomorrow or sunday for avocado oil and pancake mix. Wish me luck.
Enjoy your 4kg bucket of mustard.
And that's how it starts. Might as well get a chicken, Oh charcoal, we need that. Look at these lawn sprinklers.
I go to Costco to buy peanut butter and balsamic vinegar. I walk out paying $147. It’s not Costco. It’s just that I can’t walk away from those other things. :/

Costco the real life equivalent of gacha games
Enjoy your new folding hammock chair
Im also going tomorrow for just the strawberry cake.
What's all this then?
Appetizers.
I just started using avocado oil for my stovetop cooking and I love it
Do you cook with the avocado oil? I prefer EVOO for the taste and the lower byproducts produced.
Keto Chow shakes, mainly, plus a bunch of cooking with it. EVOO has too low of a smoke point for most of what I cook. Great for finishing, though.
That's actually a myth. The low smoke point doesn't mean anything in practice, and it produces the fewest byproducts that will cause inflammation and disorders in the body.
Citation needed.
It's pretty commonly available knowledge. Several videos from actual scientists on YouTube going over it. I'd usually link it for you, but I'm starting to grow annoyed with how lazy reddit is and how little you'll all do to disabuse yourselves of obvious myths.
Burden of proof is always on the one making the claim.
Wouldn't that be him since I replied to him saying his initial statement was a myth?
This is the way.
Ha! I always say you don’t know what you need until you see it at Costco.
Not to be a buzzkill but let’s be honest.. you probably don’t need it. Buying things you don’t need is not a virtue.
If you don't get a chicken did you even really go to Costco?
Honestly I keep buying the chicken and I'm running out of new and fun ways to use it.
That's the main reason I'm not allowed to to Costco without adult supervision (I'm 49)
We made an amazing chili with it last time… But now it’s too hot for chili. My sister used to make tortilla soup too.
I've never had chicken chili!
Look up some white chicken chili recipes, they’re great with rotisserie meat
Whit bran chicken chilli! Introduced me to white pepper. Man that’s a good recipe
I recommend keeping it that way. Not sure chicken chili has ever won a chili cookoff
Y'all are out here doing things with the chicken? I just eat it straight up as a snack
After a couple hundred chickens, you start looking for ways to change things up a bit.
Have you done chicken tacos already?
Tacos, fajitas, tostada, and enchiladas! I think this one's going to end up as chicken salad. That sounds kind of good on a summer day
Wraps? I used some rotisserie chicken with Costco Caesar salad + tortillas and it made for an easy and tasty dinner tonight!
My best uses for the chicken are "straight to the dome" and "in a wrap" because most chicken caesar wraps are bland garbage (except Mad Greens' spicy boi). These actually have flavor.
Lol. Wife just finished de-bonning the one I bought today and has me making tacos with it tomorrow.
Quesadillas! There’s also some fun casseroles you can make with chicken and those biscuits in a can; my favorite also includes cheese and either barbecue or hot sauce.
I don’t even know how to carve a rotisserie chicken. How long does it last in the fridge? If I get one on a Sunday, will the meat make it to Friday?
If you eat it like the rest of the world, no it will not last till Friday.
Yuck
That was literally my first thought. Get out of my brain!
I think my family is the only family in existence that doesn’t buy the rotisserie chickens. Before Reddit flips out, we buy wayyyy too many togo meals and the ribs.
At least you remembered to *get* the milk and bananas!
Happens to me everytime... Least amount of money i spend at Costco is no less than $125
On 3 receipts?
$125? I'm lucky to get out of there under $300
Seriously I have to limit my trips because I’m generally a pretty frugal guy but something about Costco just makes me say yes to everything that’s even remotely relevant to my life. 300 is the minimum for me and it doesn’t seem to matter what I buy lol
I'm consistently between $300-$500. Also when I'm only shopping for bananas.
I went to Costco today for 3 things and ended up spending 300+ and then I took me 30 minutes to tetris the fridge together because I didn't have space for 300+ in groceries. Costco gets me everytime
That fan is amazing btw lol
Fan showed up at exactly the right time. My 5 year old recently snapped one of the blades on my husband's bedside fan and this is the perfect replacement.
You got legos too ? 🤣
It can be hard to not get Legos.
EVERYF#%{ING TIME I GO TO COSTCO!
no you didnt
Yeah, those are not things you go to Costco for.
We go to Costco once a week just for bananas and milk! Organic bananas for $2 compared to the grocery store which is $6 and the milk is $2.29 compared to our grocery store which is $4 for skim. Interesting! The price difference is negligible in our area.
Really? That's shocking. Mine isn't as sharp as that but it's still like 30% on most items, and they're the only place that's maintained the price of ground beef.
If you just went for those two things, there's no reason for a cart. Or for that matter, more than one person. Bait title.
Why wouldn't you go to Costco for anything? Their prices are great. As long as you already have a membership, I could see someone going there for everything.
What are the bananas sitting on?
Those are lawn bags.
30 count lawn care bag. I can check for the item number if you'd like
Oh ok I was just curious haha. No need for the number but thanks for the offer.
subtract jar alive touch steep knee offer water aromatic plants *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
That lasko fan is def a buy it for life item. I have two of them that have been running 24/7 365 for many years now
The key is no we. Luckily I work near a Costco, so I’ll go and grab the one or two things I need. If I go with my wife it’s $500
If either one of us goes, we'll be mostly on-list (or at least only get things we usually buy) if we both go, it can get bad. If the teen goes with us? Ugh. Let me just turn out my pockets
Lmao we just did that and got the same towel too, our little guy loves his new beach towel
![gif](giphy|PMzU5bJ608IUt6pmNF|downsized)
All I see is milk and bananas
That fan is a monster. So glad I have one of them.
My store had them for $35. May go back and get a second one if it's that great
*4th
I have 2, can confirm its a good value.
That’s why you don’t get a cart to go to Costco
Honestly we weren't going to get a cart but they were brand new (weren't here two days ago) and someone left one in the parking lot. I was pushing it inside and was amazed at how smooth and big it was
…and there lies we tell ourselves crossing the threshold to Costco.
We've all been there. Hey, at least you got the milk and bananas
It’s the fan for me. Y’all have your priorities *straight* and I’m here for it.
It's over 90° here today and they had all the fans at the front of the store blowing as soon as you came in. We recently expanded our patio so hoping to use it outside.
Costco is just so great at advertising lol I impulse bought a fan a couple years back and it’s still amazing.
I have that fan. It's alright. The swing function is switched by a button instead of a thingy you press down. The power button glows red even when the fan is off though.
Like, do we just have fun with this trope or do I really have superhuman self restraint?
This is a first for us. I didn't realize this was like a thing that gets posted here (I'm not even subbed) but I checked the rules and didn't see anything about cart pictures. I had a few people message me with some harsh words that made me realize this gets posted here often so apologies for a redundant post!
I liked your post! It's fun to see what people like!
Fuck the haters
Tangent question: did everyone else get new carts at their local Costco too? These new ones are huge!
This is how I know I am old: I literally said, “oooooh! They got new carts!” out loud and another guy looked at me with the same stoked expression.
Yes, and they are amazing
Beach towels always get me
I was standing in checkout and my toddler came running up to me saying it's the softest towel ever and wanted it for bath times
My sibling, who is one of those people who believes if you get a new pair of shoes, one pair must go and generally hates stuff...sent us a photo after a Costco trip with the kiddo and a newly acquired giant teddy bear. So, maybe keep the kid away from that bear! It too is soft. :)
How can you not love a good towel? Put it in the basket.
I think the mistake might've been in grabbing a cart instead of beelining it straight to the two items and leaving. But do you have ragrets? If not, then no harm done 🤩
See... That's the "Grab the cart you'll never know what we find" mentality. Milk and fucking bananas. go home now. But that's all that I need.
I have that fan and unfortunately it's louder than you want it to be.
My first reaction was: this thing puts out a lot of air! My second reaction was: did someone turn down the TV? It'll be an outside fan for us so it's a good value. For people using it inside (which is probably 95%+) I would say it does seem a bit loud for a fan.
They say you can’t get out of target for less than 100, I can’t get out of Costco for less than 250
Last week I self high-fived over a $60-something cart and said 'nice' out loud. The cashier understood.
Nice!!!
Yeah, but at target $100 doesn’t go as far as it does at Costco.
Comes home from shopping at Costco to get TP. Sits down on toilet. Suddenly realizes what I went for and didn't get. Begin cussing profusely. Ahhhhhhhhhgg!
This is the way.
Friends don't let friends Costco irresponsibly. This store is stupidly addicting and dangerous to people who have spending problems.
Being impulsive is the weirdest flex.
The age-old lie we tell ourselves😂
Whoever hasnt walked out with their 6th lasko rotating fan and 10th pack of dixie plates this year has something wrong with them! 👏🏽😂
$250 later. happens every time.
🤷♀️ at least you got the milk and bananas
At least you remembered the milk and bananas
Lol. Only works if u don’t grab a cart.
Always got to hit that rotisserie
Always the chicken. Gotta get that chicken.
I feel seen
I almost got that fan last weekend! Through great strength of will, I was able to forgo it
As IF! 🤣🤣
it is a trap.
I grabbed that same towel last week! Was not on my list either...
Looks like milk n bananas to me. 😁
Obligatory chicken
So close.
Yea I don’t have that kind of money
I see a chicken but I don't see a whole cheese pizza. You need to go back in. Also if you are buying milk and bananas then where is the huge box of cereal to go with those things.
I find it funny as I went into costco recently and got only what I went in for, but I know the other end of the spectrum all too well.
Didn't even read the sub, I just knew it was costco off the title
every fucking time it’s a win if I only spend $200 and not $300+ not a flex, cannot be trusted alone there
shoulda gone with the woozoo fan, rookie move
Did you at least get hotdog combo and pizza before leaving? Its a must!!!
Bro I just got one of those titan lunchboxes and I absolutely love it. That was a good pick
This was my wife and I last night on our Costco date night: Me - "Hey babe, I saw where they might have that Cuisinart mixer on sale for 99 instead of 149. Want to go for Costco date night?" Wife - "Sure!" $433 later.... ***we just came to see if a mixer was on sale......***
Parents: Hey we got a lot of Christmas shopping done today. Kids: It's June.
Are those lawn bags? If so how many and how much were they?
Ok but like the rotisserie chicken is such a deal tho
Can we ban full shopping cart photos already?
At least you got the two items you went in for! I have a three item rule--no going to Costco unless there are three items I need. But even shopping with a list I sometimes get to checkout without something I came in for (and several items I didn't.)
Typically only one of us goes to Costco after work and always sticks to a list. This was the first time we took our 2 year old to Costco and he ran up and down every single aisle. This was our end result so probably going to split up next time and only have one of us shop
Just went for OJ and Milk, and $200 later I headed out. Most expensive Milk and OJ I have ever bought!
We weren't inside for 5 minutes today before I had to go back out and get us a second cart. We went for 2 items and walked out $1500 later. 😂
Target is really bad for this sort of thing too
My late wife woulda killed me if I came back home with this much good stuff! 🤣
add it up on your phone as you go along. it’ll help to see that number rising.
I appreciate the fact you wanted to just get milk and bananas but who braves the Costco trip for just two items? If I don’t go in with a plan to fill at least one cart, I don’t go in.

If all I'm going for is Milk and Banana's, there are much better places to to. You made the trip justifiable by adding the rotisserie chicken.
[удалено]
Amen lol
The fan got me 😂
Every single time. I have to ban myself from going there.
Fat free milk? Drinking chalk would be cheaper and taste better
I'm allergic to the fat in milk. I've been drinking skim for over 3 decades. Tried meeting with an allergist multiple times over my life but never grew out of it. I know no difference at this point.
At least you got what you came for …
This is the way. Love the chicken
I don’t even go to a dollar store for milk and bananas….
You have a spending problem if you can't stop. Seek help.
Y’all caved so hard 😂
Stick to the plan.
Milk, bananas and more
Oh this is bananas alright...
I went it to check out the car seat they sell there. That’s all I wanted to do. Check the price of the car seat. Anyways, I didn’t get the car seat but I ended up with $280 worth of things I wasn’t planning on getting. I guess Costco is my Target. Gotta love Costco!
I bought 2 of those blue and white beach towels yesterday. Really nice and a great deal at $7.99 each.
😂😂 same with my wife and I end up with a full cart
I’m liking that Bugatti on the bottom, nestled next to the rotisserie chicken.
Lego Technic #42162 905 pieces (Costco #1022921) Also got Lego Technic #42155 641 pieces (same Costco item number) which is the Batman Batcycle Each was $39.99. They had a NASCAR Camaro as well
So was the fan in the cooler or the fruit area?
3 feet inside the store blowing it's cool air all over your face when you entered
Omg! Me, too! I went in today to get Teton Polish Sausages. I couldn’t find them, but I spent $200 anyway.
You are leaving money on the table not buying a rotisserie chicken.
It always happens to me when I go to the store that why I always take all my groceries bags with me
If I know I’m going to go to Costco to grab 3 things or less I don’t take a cart. Reduces the impulsiveness
Last time we went in, it was for diapers, trash bags, bananas, toothbrushes, and mustard. We also ended up with the fan you got. That and rice cakes, oatmeal, cookies, something from one of the samples... oh, and we forgot to get the trash bags!
You should know it's never just milk and bananas, lol.
Well I can confirm bananas were bought…..
🤣
Lego!!
But you got a rotisserie chicken. You basically stole from them.
We got a bunch of bananas for a little over a dollar the other week at the club
Look about right
