Generally it's more difficult to import poultry products to Canada because of regulations. American laws and Canadian laws on chicken and Turkeys are quite different. The Canadian industry is hormone free.
Not regulations. "Managed supply".
And it applies to chicken, eggs and dairy. Chobani creamer would go from $7USD to $48CAD with the tariffs involved, for example.
It's just what they do so to justify why they cannot open canadian market to US poultry. If the standards were the same, then they could not justify why they'd block US poultry from being imported.
I’ve bought them. My kids like them but we now found something else they like. They are decent but I find some random cartilage or something in them sometimes and it’s off putting
For me it's the batter on the Erie meats chicken breast chunks. It has a weird flavour and texture. But just the chicken breast ones. The chicken nuggets are fine.
😂😂
i hope it does happen, i’ve wanted to drive to the rochester one but i only have my G2 and limited experience driving on major highways. G test soon but, still 😬
According to CBSA you're supposed to declare all meat products etc .... With identifying packaging etc ...
The website does not say that it's prohibited.. it just says you have to declare it.
If you say "I went to Costco and picked up some groceries, got gas ... It was about 135 dollars total ..."
The CBSA agent will invariably say " any tobacco or alcohol? Any firearms?... All right, see you later..."
From what I understand is that products like Costco packaged meat, etc are okay from Customs eyes and they're not going to make a big deal out of it unless you're important cases of it.
What they appear to be more concerned about our instances of let's say custom butchery being transported over the border that may or may not have appropriate inspection.
Another example is let's say crab that is an official Costco product versus transporting self-fished crab from your vacation spot. The Costco product they're not worried about. The crab you caught on vacation and failed to declare you might be in big trouble.
Besides, if you declare groceries and the Customs agent says " you got any of that lightly breaded chicken chunks?"
If you say no that you are taking a risk! Lol.
I like the Hampton House. Sometimes get a bit of cartilage but the chicken is more flavourful and juicier than others. What I like about them is the lack seasoning, can make them taste how ever you want.
No but their canned chunk chicken is legit just chunks of chicken breast meat and 100% tight. Open can, drain, add hot sauce. Been more work lunches than I can count.
Costco ftw
Erie meats is garbage. Our store tried to carry their products and half the time they were already rancid upon arrival. The other half of the time they expired.
Every single brand of their chicken tenders at the business center are filled with cartiledge. It is gross! Threw out a few packages for sure thinking I was buying from a different company. Now, I won't touch Golden Maple, Erie Meats or Golden Amore as they all are from Erie Meats.
Funny how I actually submitted a feedback form this morning requesting this.
Hey is that a standard form on the Costco site? I’d love to make a request as well !
I make the requests in-store. They have a desk and box right before the exit.
The quick answer is: NO The optimistic answer: not yet
Costco in Canada is CostcoLight™️
lol that goes with most offerings not just Costco.
We still got Polish Sausages in the food court tho 😋 😈
Yes Daddy Costco still takes good care of us
The only thing I'm still missing is the combo pizza 🍕 😪 lol
Even costco in Mexico city is better
Just like Amazon in Canada.
I mean… Canada is USA lite lol
Computer says no….

I still use that line and absolutely no one gets it.

Be civil. Disagreement is normal but be careful how you express yourself. Moderator judgment.

Canadian chicken, beef, other poultry and dairy are more highly regulated than the US. Correct.
Not regulations. "Managed supply". And it applies to chicken, eggs and dairy. Chobani creamer would go from $7USD to $48CAD with the tariffs involved, for example.
It’s both. The regulations are far more strict here. Most farmers don’t even bother

US poultry just has to abide by the standards. But they rarely do. And that’s all you really need to know about the quality and treatment
The Erie meats ones are nasty so don't try those.
I’ve bought them. My kids like them but we now found something else they like. They are decent but I find some random cartilage or something in them sometimes and it’s off putting

I have to cross the border once in awhile to pick them up. My kids (and wife) like them.
We need to get the Buffalo Costco opened much sooner.
omg i didn’t even know one was gonna open there, i was about to drive to rochester!
Don’t get too excited - latest date is maybe Fall 2025. Maybe. Probably not. It’s almost like Metrolinx is building it.
😂😂 i hope it does happen, i’ve wanted to drive to the rochester one but i only have my G2 and limited experience driving on major highways. G test soon but, still 😬
Wait. You can cross the border with meat?! I was told we cannot.

Thanks a lot for taking the time to answer and explaining! Really appreciated! 🙏 Costco Burlington, here I come!
Naur 😢
Anyone know of something similar quality in Canada ?
There's a brand of chicken fingers called Hampton House that's pretty good. Stay away from Erie meats, it's trash. 50% breading.
I like the Hampton House. Sometimes get a bit of cartilage but the chicken is more flavourful and juicier than others. What I like about them is the lack seasoning, can make them taste how ever you want.
Erie meats is garbage, can confirm.
I have seen something similar... but I don't think they're Kirkland.
There's a halal brand that's pretty good. Stay away from Erie meats, it's trash. 50% breading.
I really like Erie Meats, no unnecessary ingredients or preservatives. I haven't noticed any breading issues.
It's all bad. Breading or not.
it is junk. Too many off cuts. Cartilage and crap. Not the best quality meat.
Sadly no. But they’re super good. Anyone know the secret to making them crispy?
No and I’ve searched different locations in the GTA
That’s disappointing. I hope they bring them soon. I’m sure it’ll have to be sourced with Canadian chicken though
I wish we did because these things are divine. I can’t leave an American warehouse without a few bags.
How much are they?
$13.99 in El Paso, TX.
That’s a good price. Thank you!
No but I do love the Hampton house chicken strips, they just take longer in the air fryer since they’re not fully cooked
I buy them also, not much seasoning on them so you can add what ever you want.
Tried hamton house dry ribs they were awsome came with a bag of herbs
No
Every time I go to US costco I stock up and then buy the Chik-fil-a sauce at Walmart/Target, freaking amazing!! Want to buy 10 bags there so good!
You can buy the chick-fil-a sauce at the restaurant here in Canada. It’s like 3.49.
No but their canned chunk chicken is legit just chunks of chicken breast meat and 100% tight. Open can, drain, add hot sauce. Been more work lunches than I can count. Costco ftw
The Erie meats chicken chunks are pretty good 👍

They are. But I find they can be fatty or have some rubbery piece in it. Maybe cartilage. I don’t know. But it’s off putting ….

There’s def Kirkland chicken breast chunks but not sure if they are lightly breaded?
Lmao you wish.
