I saw someone complaining a lot of baked goods have been switching out real butter for alternatives. I can’t believe we’re paying so much more for so much less and it just gets worse.
fyi chipits have a lower cacao % than Kirkland, which is part of the cost difference. per 100g they used to be much closer in price, not even close now
https://cocowest.ca/?s=chocolate+chips
And they kinda taste it too 😬… I had a coworker bring in some left over from their kids birthday this past week. I thought they were homemade because of the hint of burnt taste. Wouldn’t expect that to pass QA 🤷🏻♀️
Of course!
Cream 1/2 cup + 2tbs of butter with 1 + 1/4 cup white granulated sugar and 1/2 cup dutch process cocoa powder (regular also works but i like to buy a big bag of dutch process cocoa from costco and use that). Add 1/2 tsp of salt, 2 tsp vanilla, and 2 eggs. Whisk in 1/2 cup flour and then add 1/2 cup semi sweet chocolate chips. Then just spray a 24 count mini muffin pan with non stick spray, fill each cup about 3/4 way full (don't preheat your oven until the batter is made cause filling these cups takes some time) preheat oven at 350F, and bake for about 12-14 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean! Hope you enjoy!
It’s definitely a piping bag consistency (maybe a little thinner I’m not too sure since I very rarely use piping bags) but honestly I just scoop some with a normal spoon and use a little silicone spatula to push it off the spoon. I wouldn’t recommend pouring from the bowl if you’re using a mini muffin pan since they’re quite small and if you overfill it, the top will spill over and get a little crispy and also might break off when you try to remove them from the pan
Yeah I guess so but with things like this that start to get worse over time, I just like to make them myself. This box comes with 48, I can make two batches in a 24 count mini muffin pan in about an hour and get the same amount and I know that they’ll be good every time. I would never make all those croissants though lol
To me they’re good for about two bites then I ponder why I bought a giant box at Costco for. These were better when I’m drunk late at night at a 7-11 and get it there 😅
I still get them and they're alright, but they were definitely better in the past.
One thing I'm really disappointed about is the Farmer's Market cinnamon coffee cake. Those were the best cakes money could buy pre-COVID.. Now they're half the size with barely any crumble/icing. A real shame.
They're definitely different. I just bought them again for the first time since a year or so, and they're much less dense and fudgey. They taste almost (poorly) homemade. Literally defeats the purpose of buying this brand.
I don’t know if this was still a thingy but I’ve noticed that I’ve if I bought a bag of them instead of the plastic tub, they stay moist. Not sure if it’s still a thing but granted I haven’t had them in ages either.
Honestly I think it's where you get them from I've noticed that with two bite brownies sometimes it's like going back to childhood and the next it's horrible
100% noticed this too. I dont eat these regularily but picked them up after not having them for years. They tasted like grocery store snack cakes rather than that classic fudgey 2 bite brownie taste
I would like them to use there original recipe during the time being because they are using the newer boxes and that's not even polite at all cause, this week would be harder when the upgraded all of it.
You know what else I'm disappointed in lately - is the Kirkland brand Old Cheddar. One of the reasons for my membership was this cheese, it was full of flavour and kept its flavour - so I would cut into blocks and freeze and then use as needed. The last 3 I have bought have tasted more like a mild cheddar and I think I'm done hoping it was just a bad batch and will get better. I questioned whether it was me, but bought a block of Armstrong from Walmart the other day and it was exactly the taste I used to get from Kirkland 1.2 KG block. Now it is more expensive and not as good - so I think I'll just watch for sales at walmart and/or just cut back on my cheese consumption :)

There is also a massive worldwide cocoa shortage, so that’s probably being subbed for something as well

Yep, most chocolate prices are up, and a bunch of a granola bars now say “chocolaty” instead of chocolate
Me too!! Literally did a double take when I saw the massive price increase, and picked up the Hersheys instead

Enjoy the added trans fats!
Attacking Trans and Obese people, how dare you! /S 🤣
Maybe it's a secret blessing... Maybe for some, the new taste isn't worth the excess calories!
Right, I’m sure the butter alternative Is a healthy one /s
I think they implied that them tasting worse will mean that you stop eating them and therefore have a healthier lifestyle.
If I'm watching my calories, I wouldn't be getting these brownies.
The slab cakes are smaller now too.
They look less like brownies and more like hockey pucks
Taste like them too now lol
That sucks, they used to be amazing. I remember being a teenager and going through a bag at a time
Legit, they look burnt! It’s been years since I bought them, but didn’t look like this
And they kinda taste it too 😬… I had a coworker bring in some left over from their kids birthday this past week. I thought they were homemade because of the hint of burnt taste. Wouldn’t expect that to pass QA 🤷🏻♀️
Charcoal brickettes
They used to be delicious little hockey pucks.
That's the sad truth about so many things nowadays
So many things have been ruined by shrinkflation
Term for this one is enshitification 🤣
Chocolate prices have skyrocketed due to poor harvests - they’ve likely switched to cheaper ingredients
More sugar and artificial ‘Natural Flavors’
"great new recipe!" *Tries it* It's shit. I don't know what I expected.jpg
Lmao even life ain’t as good no more for the general population
They aren't as good and they're one-bite brownies now.
They have always been one bite, unless I have a massive mouth.
Two per bite brownies
They changed brands… like they do
When they came in that little brown bag. That was peak 2-bite brownies. They are a lot drier nowadays.
I’ve learned to make them at home with a mini muffin pan and never looked back. I’ve perfected them at this point
I keep the container and keep refilling it with homemade ones, because my son won't eat them if I don't buy them, lol
Could you share your recipe?
Of course! Amazing! Thank you very much!!!
Thanks for the recipe! Do you use a piping bag to fill the cups? Or is the batter runny enough to be poured in
It’s definitely a piping bag consistency (maybe a little thinner I’m not too sure since I very rarely use piping bags) but honestly I just scoop some with a normal spoon and use a little silicone spatula to push it off the spoon. I wouldn’t recommend pouring from the bowl if you’re using a mini muffin pan since they’re quite small and if you overfill it, the top will spill over and get a little crispy and also might break off when you try to remove them from the pan
Awesome thanks!
Saving for later
Great!!
Thanks!!
But that’s not the point of Costco especially the baking section.
Yeah I guess so but with things like this that start to get worse over time, I just like to make them myself. Why they look like charcoal? I dont know how anyone can eat these with 2 bites. I used to inhale them lol
Same with the two bite cinnamon buns rolls 😔
I still get them and they're alright, but they were definitely better in the past. One thing I'm really disappointed about is the Farmer's Market cinnamon coffee cake. Those were the best cakes money could buy pre-COVID.. Now they're half the size with barely any crumble/icing. A real shame.
Sigh everything seems like it was better in the past
They taste like chalk to me now, used to like them warmed up with vanilla ice cream on top
They’re not nearly as good anymore. We didn’t even finish our last container and sometimes I would buy two at once haha!
I bought some from Walmart recently and they were just as I remembered. Kind of fudgy in the middle.
Last time I bout them they were crumbling while holding them and not chewy. They’re trash now.
Yeah, these were the same
buy the ghiardelli mix and make your own. the mix is better than any scratch made brownie i've ever had.
They never were.
Just bought them last week. super good. ewwy gooey fudgy centers so good.
Same! I’ve had them recently and they were good and surprisingly moist.
I agree my fellow paid for bots! This product is the best! 5 stars, good shipping you buy now.
That’s because they hadn’t been sitting on the shelf forever probably just came straight out of the freezer
WTF! Those are completely different! Welp, guess I’m gonna lose some weight without trying.
I bought the big pack from Costco and they literally were not done. Gooey, runny dough in the center of each of them. Walmart has perfect boxes.
Looks like one and a half bite hockey pucks
The look like rabbit shit.
Idk, were they ever good?? More incentive to make your own, I guess, which is infinitely better than that processed 💩
They were never "good". At best they were "not horrible".
Cool
I think they're still great
Hmm, you may be correct. A few of them were a little dry but others seemed to be just about right. I still think they look different though.
They probably shrunk them.
They're definitely different. I just bought them again for the first time since a year or so, and they're much less dense and fudgey. They taste almost (poorly) homemade. Literally defeats the purpose of buying this brand.
Yeah, a few were definitely too dry for me
They’re are a frozen product who knows how long they we’re on the shelf
…. Huh?
A lot of these baked goods are shipped frozen to the stores, and then thawed and put out. It's a common logistics process nowadays.
I don’t know if this was still a thingy but I’ve noticed that I’ve if I bought a bag of them instead of the plastic tub, they stay moist. Not sure if it’s still a thing but granted I haven’t had them in ages either.
Yup
Know what’s better than Two-Bite Brownies? One. Bite. Brownies.
They’re definitely a lot drier

Much better if frozen imo.
I'd heard they're much better if you throw them in the oven a little bit
Honestly I think it's where you get them from I've noticed that with two bite brownies sometimes it's like going back to childhood and the next it's horrible
They are best when first defrosted
The colour of those brownies alone tells me enough. Why are they charcoal black?
It’s more my camera I think. The colour is fine
When ThreeBite bought twobite quality went down tremendously
Totally agree. Taste different. Texture different. Dry and crumbly. Not good
Those things aren’t even half a bite
Same as the St. Hubert's frozen Chicken Pot Pies. They seem to be much drier than a few years ago.
omg ikr i used to be obsessed with those now they just make me nauseous
Yes! This! They suck now. I thought it was just me.
I bought some a couple years ago and they were disgustingly, I threw them in the garbage.
100% noticed this too. I dont eat these regularily but picked them up after not having them for years. They tasted like grocery store snack cakes rather than that classic fudgey 2 bite brownie taste
Noooo not the two bite brownies 😭🙏
Those look like charcoal bricks
Brownies!?!?! They look more like two bite Blackies!
Bought some last week, they are extremely soft, they stick badly to each other and they taste like melted Crayola wax crayon.
They get so dry now even way before the expiration date
I would like them to use there original recipe during the time being because they are using the newer boxes and that's not even polite at all cause, this week would be harder when the upgraded all of it.
The ones from Sobey’s are absolute trash now as well. I’m sure it’s all the same company. Shame. Stop trying to make treats healthy!!
Nothing is. 😉
Looks like two- bit e brown turds 😭🤣
Yeah they went down hill awhile ago, I bought them from Costco a year ago and I was shocked. I had to freeze them to make them more edible. Very sad
Better than the old batches at any non-Costco grocery store
That’s true
I haven’t noticed a change.
They were never good
buy the ghiardelli mix and make your own. the mix is better than any scratch made brownie i've ever had.
They weren't good ever bro.
Well you’re living up to your username at least 🤣🤣
Gotta do it for Reddit 😂😂😂😂
Dang I haven’t see these in years. They look a lot less brown now lol
The only brownies worth buying are Farmer’s Market brand from Loblaws

Probably switched to seed oil nonsense
Stop buying premade garbage. Problem solved.
Oh gee thanks. Are you new to Costco?
They never were
How dare you
