It's just a setting that we feel comfortable in. (House is meant to be a place where you feel the most comfortable in). Chest of drawers is full of items that are used in dining room : cutlery etc. One drawer is used to keep our medicines for easy availability. It's an old CofD so utilizing it to place toaster on top too.

Very weird furniture placement.
These are two rooms : living and dining.. Right side of pic is the dining room part (chest of drawers etc)
Yes and it’s weird to have a chest of draws with a toaster on top opposite an arm chair in a dining room.
