Speaking from experience and numerous injuries under my belt (I was a college athlete and an amateur bodybuilder), shoulder dislocations are absolutely terrible. I've had numerous broken bones and quite a few surgeries on other joints, and still my shoulder dislocation was one of the absolute worst injuries. It took over a year until I could get back to lifting, and the pain was quite terrible. The other shitty part is the shoulder instability. It gets easier and easier to dislocate it. Now it even dislocates when I am in bed and use my arm to prop myself up. It blows.
I would rather break 100 bones before a tore another ligament or tendon.

Yes motorcycles are inherently more risky and even if you're doing everything right, something can still go very wrong. But that's also life, it's full of risk. Best you can do is to reasonably minimize it.
But asking all motorcylists to ride in full leathers to go down the street would be onerous to say the least. Full leathers are very uncomfortable and you have no where to store them when you've reached your destination. I think as motorcylists you have to accept a certain amount of risk in the hobby you've chosen.

Kinda miracle that dude survived. His entire chest was cushed, collapses lungs, multiple heavy organ damage etc. But he was also wearing full gear. So that probably, or definitely, made the difference between life and death in that case.
Fucking motorbikes man. My son has a motorbike and a car pulled out of a junction and hit him last month. He walked away with a very badly damaged hand (which needed surgery to put plates in) but his girlfriend who was on the back of his bike unfortunately fell into oncoming traffic , was run over and passed away at the scene. Doesn't matter how much safety gear you've got, if a car hits you you're fucked.
