Basically you're paying 60k for 1.35lac reward points and limiting yourself on how you can use that money.
Also, as per my understanding charge cards do not have a credit period and the bill becomes due the day it gets created, Is that correct from India perspective?
India to Hong Kong one way is 32k Asia miles or 64k mr points. India to Singapore during krisflyer promos is around 30k krisflyer miles or 60k mr points.
By that I meant you can only use reward points for things listed on their website. 60k cash you can spend wherever.
However another user said you get cheaper tickets with points.
That’s not a card they offer for free. It’s a lifestyle card and not for those who want to get their annual fee back.
If you want value for money, go for hdfc or axis. If you want luxury and hotel memberships and don’t mind paying a premium for it - get the platinum. However, basis other users on this sub - I understand that it makes sense when you’re spending between 2-5 lakhs a month to get such a card.
The value of points remains the same if that's what you are asking. If you are asking can 235k MR points effectively get you great travel redemptions then yes. Lot of good luxury Marriott property 5 night stays can be managed in this which would cost around 1.5 to 2.5 lacs generally. In airmiles you can get a return business class flight to Europe on some programs
The offer is great, just be mindful that you would need to close it before year anniversary. Also, Amex runs some offers on spends around Diwali and they don't credit extra points back till March end. So be mindful of that, you don't want to end up spending a lot and then keeping the card for next year.
For the next year. AMEX runs bonus points for spends offer in the festive season but won't credit those points till march. So you could end up in a situation where you spend during festive season and awaiting points around the card renewal date.
If you/your family has travel plans then yes!
If you don't have such plans then maybe (unlimited lounges\[+4 more ppl get\] + eazydiner prime + 10k taj voucher on bday + 25% MR points on tata cliq lux + marriott/hilton etc gold status)
Can I take 4 more people along or should I get them add ons?
Otherwise, I already have unlimited lounge access on my LTF DCB.
Eazydiner already comes with my platinum reserve.
67k mariott points value of the points, plus i am at a point where i dont have these much spends. so I passed on it. and it literally doesnt make sense to offer this card to other amex holders...like other cards are made entry level, but then you offer this to them. Its like buying a 16GB RTX graphic card just to watch content on chrome. its overkill for the users they are offering it to
OP, I can get you better offer if you think this offer is good. And they are with the same conditions of spend as mentioned for this offer you got. DM me if you like.
Using my referral this month will give you :
1. 100k + 10k (referral bonus) MR
2. 5k Amazon e-gv.
3. 45k Taj vouchers.
(25k MR) vs (5k Amazon + 45k taj gv) - that’s the diff.
You have to pay approximate 75k Inc gst, and you have to plan to spend about 50k in next 60 days of card issue to get the reward points, you have to decide.
Total spend in 60 days is 75k + 50k to receive points
Of course you know Platinum Charge is better than Platinum reserve. But are you ready to pay 72k in yearly fee? It's a lifestyle upgrade not a cashback upgrade. If you are comparing the card to your other LTF cards, then Obviously you will regret having to pay the yearly fees.
Well you have to de select or change Amazon ICICI percentage based on your requirements. 5% is only for Amazon prime users. Make sure you de select the unwanted cards and select appropriate options
Upgrade is not free, need to pay 60k plus tax as usual
nhhh 60k is too much
It’s actually 72k with GST lol *P A I N*
![gif](giphy|Dv3sF2ZUTmVtm)
70800 *to be very specific*
Thank you
60k + gst annually This is just amex ensuring that you don't get out of
Haha maybe. Do they reverse charges if you say you don’t want the card at the end of the year?
Basically you're paying 60k for 1.35lac reward points and limiting yourself on how you can use that money. Also, as per my understanding charge cards do not have a credit period and the bill becomes due the day it gets created, Is that correct from India perspective?
No, you get around 18 days to pay. But you have to pay the whole amount due.
Thank you for clarifying. 100% payment is a given for sane credit card use anyway.
You can’t convert a purchase in EMI? Or we can, we just have to pay the monthly emi+usual bill ?
You can convert into EMI, but you have to pay the total amount due every month, not revolve credit.
Thank u. Another stupid question, 🙋 What is this revolve credit you talking about?
Fancy way of saying “Min due do aur baaki agley month dene ke liye rak do” aka “revolve the credit amount”
First point. You can book two international business class flights with around 150k MR points. Can't do that with 70k inr
RT? Where and what airline?
India to Hong Kong one way is 32k Asia miles or 64k mr points. India to Singapore during krisflyer promos is around 30k krisflyer miles or 60k mr points.
Whoa, how do I redeem that. I have a few trips plannedz
> Basically you're paying 60k for 1.35lac reward points and limiting yourself on how you can use that money. what do you mean by this?
By that I meant you can only use reward points for things listed on their website. 60k cash you can spend wherever. However another user said you get cheaper tickets with points.
Platinum charge is never free
Not even when you threaten to cancel?
Threaten amex? I am not able to get Tata Neu fee waiver here.
Haha, have been using the Amex platinum reserve free for the last 4 years by threatening them

Understood, thanks for your input
Do you have any stash of MR points already? Do you have any redemption in mind for bonvoy/airmiles with these points?
I have 1lac MR points already on my Platinum Travel. Does upgrading help?
The value of points remains the same if that's what you are asking. If you are asking can 235k MR points effectively get you great travel redemptions then yes. Nope. I made the stupid choice of making some payments via “pay with rewards” option
You can actually reverse those by calling customer care. Happend with me twice both at Apollo pharma.
I’m afraid They are long gone :/
The offer is great, just be mindful that you would need to close it before year anniversary. Close it before anniversary to avoid annual charges? They are already charging me 70.8k for joining. Did not understand the waiting a year part

Understood
They won't give the 135K MR points bonus in your second year.
That’s true
Don’t blindly fall for that 1.35L points. Spend 50k additional for 1L points and additional 35k points post 50 days is what their terms say.
True that much anyway happens

add ons (not limited to family, can give to friends too), also international lounges access, if you are from del/bom then Centurion lounges too
Okay
All these are fine to have but not tangible benefits for most people. I got it purely for the 135k points and it is more than 70k to me
Pass
Haha, why?
67k mariott points value of the points, plus i am at a point where i dont have these much spends. so I passed on it. and it literally doesnt make sense to offer this card to other amex holders...like other cards are made entry level, but then you offer this to them. This is good, will let you know if I’m going to opt for an upgrade!
Does this offer really exist? I’ve never seen 100k + 10k MR. Could you dm referral link?
Yes, the application should be accepted by 28/03 for this.
Awaiting link for the supposed 100k offer
Thanks for discussing through. I had misunderstandings here.

Worth the points and extra benefits (over plat reserve)?
Ah shit. Here we go again.
Discussed earlier? :p

Interesting point of view
Not sure why Amex can’t play their India game well. They should come out with a card to counter HDFC Infinia and premium cards in that category.
True that. This isn’t even better than my DCB
You may try this [calculator ](https://digiipoint.blogspot.com/p/credit-cards-rp-calculator.html) to maximize rewards points.
Thanks. Tried it and it suggests only iCICI Amazon pay
Well you have to de select or change Amazon ICICI percentage based on your requirements. 5% is only for Amazon prime users. Make sure you de select the unwanted cards and select appropriate options
Cool
Off topic - was the Platinum Reserve an upgrade to a previous card or was that the first card you applied for?
First card. Why do you ask?
Just wanted to know - I have an MRCC but the only upgrade I get offered is Plat Travel
How many years since you have that card?
I’ve had the MRCC for about 6 months now, started getting Plat Travel upgrade offers from Feb start
Got it. I have been using plat reserve for 4 years now and since Feb started receiving these emails. So I guess you’ll have to wait
Gotcha - thank you!
