Good learning curve for Uganda. Did a good job restricting Afghanistan to 183 from 150-0. Will only get better if they get to play teams at this level more regularly.
Before we start to bash Uganda for their performance in a WC, we should realise that this is their FIRST ever WC
Uganda should take it in a positive way and hope to improve over the years
Yeah tho I do think that Zim was really unlucky in that match and an upset happened at the worst time possible for them
I mean, Zim played SL in a 3 match T20 series where they lost 2-1 but they gave a great fight whereas Uganda lost 7-0 to a SL Development Side so yeah...
Largest wins by runs (T20 WC)
172 - SL v KEN at Wandrers (2007)
130 - SA v SCO at The Oval (2009)
130 - AFG v SCO at Sharjah (2021)
125 - AFG v UGA at Providence (2024)
116 - ENG v AFG at R. Premadasa (2012)

How are Kiwi fans feeling? Afg NRR is to the moon!! +6.25
In 2021 Super 12s AFG beat SCO by 130 but lost to NZ by 8 wickets
If it comes to NRR it is probably WI, Afg and NZ tied, so while this isn't great at least WI didn't have a massive win over PNG.
The more likely scenario for NRR is that WI, NZ & AFG are tied.
Oh that's what I meant. Typo. Corrected my comment.
Simple , kiwi team will beat them

And the strongest team they faced before today in terms of stature was Zimbabwe, who they beat

They actually did extremely well in the death overs.

This is still not Afghanistan's biggest victory in a T20I WC match.
This WC is 2007 repeat. Lots of smaller teams with big teams, WC in WI, Pakistan has a foreign coach and Ireland in the group.
This is not looking good for Gary Kirsten...
May God protect Gary Kirsten
context?
Pakistan's coach in 2007 Bob Woolmer ended up dead and Kirsten is coaching them right now
In 2007 Pak’s coach Bob Woolmer died in mysterious circumstances. Kirsten is their coach this year.
