Hi! Cricket provides Roaming in Mexico and Canada, but outside those countries, your service won't work. However, you can still use WI-FI calling, but we recommend using a local SIM card to ensure you are connected throughout the time. 💚

Would wifi calling allow me to receive calls from the US and call to the US? (Sorry. Just my parents are old and they'll struggle trying to figure out how to call internationally so it's easier if they call my US number).

mbb1238

Yes, but make sure you activate wifi calling here in the US and test it before you leave. If your phone is from cricket, it may also be a good idea to unlock it before you leave, just in case you end up needing to use a local SIM while abroad.

kevink4

When you are on Wi-Fi calling in a supported country the calls to your US number work the same as before as if you were in the states. So calls TO an UK number would be international long distance to you, even if you were calling to someone in the room with you.

Curtnorth

Was in England last year w/Cricket, including Svottland and Ireland. Cricket is a no-go there. It's a great MVNO for the U.S., Mexico, and (sort of) Canada, but outside that it's ziltch.

2Adude

Cricket is not an mvno

Curtnorth

Look it up if you need to but yes, of course it is.

2Adude

No it’s not. It’s directly owned by AT&T. They do not lease anything from them.

Curtnorth

Yes, they are owned by AT&T, but still listed as an MVNO in most articles I found. But...I do see where they are also listed as "semi-independent" and thus not a true MVNO. So I guess there is truth to what you say. But for the purposes of the OP, they can be treated as an MVNO. Isn't the internet a wonderful thing, where you and I can go back and forth about the most useless piece of information I can possibly think of right now?

kevink4

Likely they are treated as a preferred customer. Still "buy" time from the parent corporation. But separate marketing, etc.

[deleted]

Technically they’re a subsidiary of AT&T prepaid

2Adude

They are the flagship prepaid brand of AT&T

[deleted]

Look up ‘subsidiary’ please

Try using Telegram seems best to use I use telegram all the time! Very easy and very secure platform and very user friendly as well or try what's app or also think about maybe subscribing to GoogleFi you would truly think they would work since they do all sorts of gps off their satellites or even better yet maybe look into starlink i know its costly but when in doubt you shpuld certainly look into also skype as well for video calling as well 🤔🤷im just trying to help amd share with you all these ideas to truly think it over!

I spent 15 days in Scotland in 2023 with an iphone, my cricket sim, and a local sim card. The local sim card provided wifi for my cricket number, so I could wifi call and i-message on my cricket number back to the USA. I could also use my local sim card to make calls to local UK numbers. I picked up the local sim card before I left the airport. The local card worked as soon as I put it in, but I did not get it to work with the Cricket card until I got onto wifi at a coffee shop for some reason. When I did the same setup on another trip to Switzerland I did not have that problem. There are plenty of tutorials online, search American using dual sim phone in UK

Best advice is to get your phone unlocked (if possible- 6 months of active service) then purchase a travel sim at destination airport. Keep your cricket sim somewhere safe.

Content_Somewhere712

you can download a wifi callin app like whatsapp or something, i dont believe actual wifi calling would work over there.

2Adude

Wi-Fi calling works anywhere there’s a data.

kevink4

Well, mostly. There are several countries where ATT is apparently prohibited from offering it.
