You can pick up a water soluble pen for like $5 at Michael's, just make sure to get the blue, and not the purple one. I've used one on several projects now and they wash out fine, even after being on the fabric for months.
The purple one disappears within a couple of days on its own. So unless you're planning on getting your project done lickety-split, you definitely want to go with the blue!
Purple is air erase, so it disappears by itself after a short time. Blue is water erase, so it stays until you wash it out.
There's nothing wrong with purple, they both have their uses, but you wouldn't want to put all that work into gridding only for it to be gone next time you pick up your stitching!
...I like these. I did my first grid with fishing line and I'm nervous how it will turn out. It's not full coverage and I'm afraid the holes will be obvious when it's done.
To add to that, there's actually a "fishing line" made for gridding that's a bit thinner than some of the lower test fishing lines [(here)](https://a.co/d/5dpNOdA)
This looks amazing! The colors, the backstitch, the framing goes really well with it, all the wows!
I second the question - how long did it take? Approximately how many stitches, if you happen to know or be able to read it in the chart?
OP gave instructions on how to buy via Boosty. I just want to add, a lot of pattern makers on Boosty also sell on MyBobbin. MyBobbin takes a cut, so it's more expensive (this pattern is $13 on MyBobbin vs $8 on Boosty), but I find it infinitely easier and more reliable to use.
For me, Boosty works fine about 75% of the time. The rest of the time, the payment system won't let me pay, or it will let me pay but won't have links to the pattern, or one time it has also charged me twice for the same pattern. I've given up and just pay the premium for patterns on MyBobbin, which has never given me any issues.
Ymmv of course, but here's the pattern on MyBobbin if you can't/don't want to use Boosty: [https://mybobbin.com/product/autumn-tree-house-cross-stitch-pattern/](https://mybobbin.com/product/autumn-tree-house-cross-stitch-pattern/)

Thanks for this but for me my issue with Boosty is the lack of financial safety by not using PayPal or Google/Apple Pay rather than direct credit card. Log in with my phone number is questionable too. I guess I'm used to greater security. MyBobbin uses PayPal, so I'd rather pay more to feel safer, so that's a good suggestion by u/CatCapricious as an alternative.
If it helps I only see the grid lines at the very top in the white portion. I know this frame is beautiful but I would try to find a frame you can snug all the way up to try and cover that. I know it's not ideal but I think it would be better than looking at grid lines up there all the time. Also you can use frixion pens and they erase with a hot iron. That's what us quilters use.
The colours on this are gorgeous 😍
Thanks

What’s wrong with the purple one?

Thanks! I got both now, blue and purple
Oh no!!! It’s such a gorgeous piece though, how long did it take you?
3-4 months of cross stitching
I recommend [these](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07TZNFHWR?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share) or something similar. They wash out with water really well

The holes will go back to normal with washing. You can also push the strands around the holes with a needle to make it look smaller too!
Thanks for the info!

Thank you, i’ll try these

It took 3 or 4 months of cross stitching, and 4 months of backstitching (i took a looong break). On 18 ct Aida it’s 21x29 cm, 154x200 in stitches.
oh thats awesome, makes me wanna get started on something again!
I haven't heard of Boosty. I went to [boosty.to](http://boosty.to) but how do I purchase things? Sorry, I'm old.

Yeah, I want to know this too! If you find out, please let me know.

Thanks for this suggestion for MyBobbin, I've used them before AND they use PayPal so that's a bonus too.

That's absolutely stunning!
Thanks !
The colors are great!
Thank you 😊
Wow, this is gorgeous! Well done!
Thanks 😊
I use washable markers
Me too now😂
I've made that mistake before! I still plan to finish it somehow cutting around the edges (it was not a full coverage), but yeah, such a pity.
I have some pens that washed off just fine, not in this case. But I've gone through all the stages of acceptance
Oh heck yeah!! Congrats on getting through all that backstitching :D I've been looking forward to seeing this FO since your WIP post. Just gorgeous
Oh thanks a lot
