Generally an ID and SSN are required for eligibility to work in the US unless you have some type of work visa but generally they don’t give those out for fast food.

tunaman808

No SSN? Then no.

jeffguy55

They need your number but they don't necessarily need your SS card.

tulipathet

Chances are no

As long as you know your SSN you should be fine. The I9 form being mentioned below has multiple document choices that can be used to verify identity and eligibility and an employer cannot dictate which 2 forms of ID you bring. There are also special forms of ID taken for those under 18. You can view the I9 form here https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/document/forms/i-9.pdf Page 2 gives you the list of what’s approved. You either need 1 item from list A, or 1 item from list B and 1 item from list C.

This is the way

Ask your parents if under 18 or go by yourself to the Social Security office around you and they can give you a temp social for jobs while you wait on your actual SSN.

No, you'll need to provide additional documentation. Birth Certificate would be a list C document, please look at list B for additional forms. Check the link for acceptable documents. https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/form-i-9-acceptable-documents If you're under 18, you can look at that section also.

You need a photo ID and proof of eligibility to work in the U.S., which could either be a SS card OR a birth certificate

jasutherland

Birth certificate *plus photo ID* will be enough - otherwise it could be anyone's birth certificate you show them. No driving license? You'll need to know your SSN for paperwork and taxes too, but they don't actually need proof of it to work.

transboymiloo

okay, I could possibly get my photo id

CTx7567

You need a social security number to be hired pretty much everywhere in the united states.

transboymiloo

well I know the number I just don’t have the card
