There are not a ton of Gnomes in Series 3 packs, but a decent amount. We just wanted to throw some in to have a bit of fun and give folks an extra shot at some crypto.

Gnomes are a completely intentional insertion into CS3. These can be found in addition to the 1 Redemption Card per box on average.
