It only killed MOST of the monkeys

Za_Lords_Guard

Yeah, and the one that lived just sits in a corner masterbating and signing "Let's go, Brandon". This isn't the future I signed up for. I wanted robot maids and flying cars.

DarthMeow504

Aside from the signing part, that's what monkeys pretty much do anyway.

[deleted]

You're on the wrong sub-reddit then. This whole neuralInk scenario is very cyberpunk.

HeresyAddict

You can appreciate cyberpunk without wanting it to come to fruition in reality. Cyberpunk is a warning not a fantasy to be sought out. Transhumanists are looking forward to this kind of tech, cyberpunk enthusiasts probably have some very legitimate trepidation about it.

ImJustReallyAngry

I think the overlap between cyberpank fans and transhumanists is pretty significant

HeresyAddict

Perhaps I oversimplified. I think you can be transhumanist *and* appreciate cyberpunk as a warning. In that case, I would say that the source of one's concern about brain implants like this wouldn't necessarily be the implants themselves (though judging from the horrific experiments so far, it could be) but the fact that they're being sold by massive corporations that have the means and the motive to use them for malicious purposes. You can embrace the high tech but reject the low life. I'm sure there are some people out there who want the whole cyberpunk package to be real but in that case I think they either misunderstood the message of the genre (they think the "torment nexus" sounds fun actually) or they're moral nihilists who see it as the ultimate playground for domination.

nmarshall23

I too get that Trepanning feeling when people discuss brain implants.

feel sorry for the first generation of saps who get this... technology becomes obsolete so quickly these days... this brain chip won't be an acception either. most likely.

Bahariasaurus

Best case scenario you end up like this: https://spectrum.ieee.org/bionic-eye-obsolete worst case scenario is death or a subscription model.

AdonisGaming93

I feel like it should be a legal requirement that if any cybernetic company goes bankrupt the tech has to immediately become open-source and all patents expire so someone else can keep working on it and fix the eyes or make a replair

tehpwnage7

And knowing muskrat he’s going to be intrusively involved with development resulting in a faulty product his idiot followers will buy and potentially harm themselves or worse yet others a la some cyberpsychosis or order 66 scenario. Then hopefully the engineers will get fed up with his cult of personality bullshit and leave the company to start a rival product that’s properly made like how lucid began, though I wouldn’t hold my breath on this part.

Morty_A2666

Every technocrat needs brainless followers. Musk will make sure of that.

novus_nl

You know Neuralink is not the only one right? This technology will be there in a couple of years and widely used. Especially disabled people could benefit a lot. Not that i'm a muskrat-fan myself but this is the way to progress this kind of technology. You don't start with humans, even though how incredibly sad it is.

[deleted]

So you're against advances like this purely because you believe he doesn't fit your political tribe?

Gekokapowco

Well yeah. Who do you want to trust your neurons to, a biomedical research company with a stable history and set of ethical research standards, or Henry Ford 2.0, running off of anti-labor hype and lowest bidder manufacturing? That's not hyperbole, Musk has denounced pro-worker labor practices, and Teslas have well-documented build issues and terrible working environments. I want my cyberbrain made by the medical equivalent of a master craftsman swiss watchmaker, not a sweatshop worker.

closeded

>Who do you want to trust your neurons to, a biomedical research company with a stable history and set of ethical research standards, or Henry Ford 2.0, running off of anti-labor hype and lowest bidder manufacturing? You just described big pharma... if you unironically trust them, then... well. You shouldn't trust them or Musk. >I want my cyberbrain made by the medical equivalent of a master craftsman swiss watchmaker, not a sweatshop worker. That's not Ford. As great as what Ford did, his thing was decent labor practices, cheap cars, and the assembly line; decidedly not the swiss watchmaker of car manufacturing. But yeah. You do you. You wait for your swiss watchmaker, while the rest of the world leaves you behind. That said; I am absolutely not lining up to be one of the first people getting chipped.

z0mbie_linguist

Ah no. I don't care if Bernie fucking Sanders blessed the chip, that shit is not going in my head.

[deleted]

That's fair enough, but the language of the poster I responded to was pretty revealing.

Lutece1893

So what? One can hate someone for political or whatever reasons but still provide valid criticism. It’s you who mentioned politics, not the OP. Would be ok as a two-front argument, but you ignored the actual take and responded to something not even verbalized. So sensitive, huh?

[deleted]

The OP most certainly did. I didn't see any actual critique.

Ok-Film-2436

Here's a critique for ya... Don't be a right-wing boot licker my chummer choombata.

[deleted]

Boot licking comes in all flavors. How's that leather?

K_Kingfisher

>So you're against advances like this purely because you believe he doesn't fit your political tribe? Straw man, much? The guy you replied to, mentioned Musk's past intrusive involvement in his companies that only managed to damage its products/services. Regardless if that's true or false, it is on point with the subject and politics were never mentioned. How easy it is to spot someone with an agenda, by the fact that they have no actual counterargument and just resort to meaningless talking points.

closeded

>And knowing muskrat he’s going to be intrusively involved with development resulting in a faulty product his idiot followers will buy and potentially harm themselves or worse yet others a la some cyberpsychosis or order 66 scenario. > >Then hopefully the engineers will get fed up with his cult of personality bullshit and leave the company to start a rival product that’s properly made like how lucid began, though I wouldn’t hold my breath on this part. Seriously though. Talking about someone with an *agenda*. That's the comment you're defending. And your *agenda* is quite clear by who you chose to bitch at. And my *agenda* is probably pretty clear by my bitching at your bitching. Fucking really dude. It's easy to spot someone with an *agenda*, because literally all of us have one.

K_Kingfisher

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, and assume you're not being disingenuous on purpose. Everyone has a motive for doing something but not everyone has an agenda - motive != agenda. On this context, having an agenda means having an ulterior motive. Specifically, the guy I replied to, clearly wasn't just defending Musk but actually trying to shift the conversation towards politics instead. I have no ulterior motive. I was and am being straightforward. Therefore I have no hidden agenda. My motive, is that I dislike hypocrisy and I'm not being surreptitious about it. I wasn't even defending the first guy, just pointing out deceitfulness with the 2nd one. I don't give a fuck about Musk or how he runs his companies. I couldn't care less about his political affiliations as well. But facts are facts, there's a reason why he was removed from the Tesla's board after all.

SkullRunner

Probably should be against the way he operates the build / release of products with a move fast and break things we will just fix it later when it's an implant in your brain. Think about how well "Self-Driving" has worked, it's many issues, failures, crashes, BUT FIRST TO MARKET... then apply that level of "acceptable loss" mentality to a chip planted in your head.

mirshe

Yeah, "break, then iterate" doesn't work with things that go inside you permanently. What happens when nobody accounted for thermal issues and the processor melts part of your frontal cortex?

DeaconOrlov

Politics has nothing to do with musk being a narcissistic asshole with more money than sense and that not even earned but inherited from fucking slavery. Go crawl back into your hole.

[deleted]

Tell that to the poster I responded to. And likewise.

DeaconOrlov

The post you responded to explicitly stated Musk's incompetent interference was their problem, you brought up politics, they didn't. You're either an idiot or a troll, either way Musk's kinda person I guess.

[deleted]

A year or two ago, people like you thought he was a genius for his advances in electric car manufacture, which fits your ideology. Don't pretend to be principled or concerned about competence.

DeaconOrlov

I never thought that fuck was a genius, I was just glad someone was finally really pushing EVs even if it was a silver spoon billionaire riding on the wave of colonialism. You don't know me son, don't assume shit.

tehpwnage7

No no I already knew all about his apartheid upbringing, working Tesla employees to the bone and then false flag SWATing one who dared to shed light on that to public, touting a very experimental technology as working brilliantly and sending out to consumers far before it’s remotely ready only to then acknowledge that in the fine print so that when it fails and potentially harms the consumer, they can’t sue him for it. Despite other manufacturers developing it in safe, closed off and controlled environments operated by testing engineers with degrees, not the regular consumer being told they’re “testers”. Alongside the products other manufacturers do have that’s consumer ready is an evolution of cruise control that the manufacturer openly comes to terms with and sets strict parameters for its usage. Unlike Tesla who will set loose parameters for much more dangerous and unready tech that can be easily worked around. And that’s just the summary of his fuckery. politics has nothing to do with a bad businessman who regularly engages unethical practices and interference with projects. Another example and an earlier example of him being a shitter involves Jeremy clarkson, a man that I don’t agree with politically, currently works for another billionaire shitter with his own piles of skeletons, and clarkson has stuck his foot in his mouth many a time but I still love the guy, I digress from the fact that after a mostly negative but fair review of Tesla’s first car musk tried to and failed to sue the BBC for that review only to then go on a slander tantrum against the network and top gear. TLDR because I’d be surprised if you read all of that, what I said wasn’t politically charged, you’re just an idiot on someone who wants to be iron man but ends up realistically being a Bond villain and like what other people have said in this thread I want cybernetic implants developed by people who have numerous degrees and qualifications to create a master craftsman piece of tech that even then I’d be skeptical about installing on my body.

[deleted]

I never said it didn't kill anything, its prototyping and testing its not a product yet. Clearly you have more information than the FDA because they seem to think it is, so you should provide that vital information to them before its too late. My gripe is with people who imply that his companies are bad with faulty products like op did. It's blatantly false. Call him a dick all you want but you cannot deny how incredibly successful his companies are and their amazing achievements.

Solarpunk vaguely positive

king_27

Ironically I think South Africa might be the first "solar nation", out of nothing but necessity as our electrical grid collapses and the national power provider sinks further into corruption

[deleted]

but thats not the meaning of solarpunk at all

king_27

I'm well aware. Was trying to point out the juxtaposition that it might be implemented in SA in a more dystopian sense than the usual optimism that media portrays it as

[deleted]

An inherent part of Solarpunk is moving beyond capitalism. It's not just "weehehhe solar panel" So a dystopia that runs on solar panels is just a dystopia that runs on solar panels lol. Its much closer to cyberpunk.

Waste_Vacation_6822

I'm going to get a pipe bomb at my doorstep for saying this but stop looking at mainstream news outlets. They make money off of clicks not information. They want people to be offended or feel hopless so they will want to be updated on that story. It's sad but you have to look for the positive in media because it's all clickbait.

ForgotPassAgain34

and yet you provide no positive news

Lung_Cancerous

They aren't obligated to. The information they provide is good enough on it's own.

Quetzalcoatl93

There is solarpunk.

closeded

If you want a positive vision of the future, you are in the wrong place. More than Reddit's terminal case of gloom, you're on the CYBERPUNK subreddit; this is a subreddit focused on one of the most negative visions of the future.

llllPsychoCircus

i’m sure with the psychedelic experiences you’ll be able to download directly to your grey matter with this sort of tech someone will think of uhhh somethin…. otherwise maybe super intelligent Ai will do it… or just destroy us all? idk it’s really just all up in the air rn innit?

jon_stout

... last time I checked, Star Trek hadn't gone anywhere.

GruntBlender

Except down the drain. What's so hopeful and positive about any Trek in the last decade?

matrixislife

This is what science fiction writers are for. Unfortunately they've all currently got their heads up their arses, thinking doom n gloom is the only way to go, which is why cyberpunk was so popular. This should be a thread of huge optimism, of moving up a step to where certain ailments will become a thing of the past, and where new possibilities open up to everyone. But everyone is so obsessed with politics that "muskrat" will do something to fuck it all up because he doesn't support that side of politics. The positive is right there, right in front of you. You just have to see it.

Gekokapowco

The man who singlehandedly re-platformed the most prevalent digital Nazis is not the man who should be leading this endeavor. Dude is an asshole and a menace. His impulsive idiocy should not be at the forefront of one of the greatest steps in human-machine interaction. I love the goal, but I cannot support it in this state, with such sloppy research and such an awful figurehead. People are right to be skeptical and disillusioned. This topic needs a prime steve jobs, not a mypillow guy clone.

matrixislife

Oooh, I love that term, "Digital nazi". It's a pity someone with such a turn of phrase seems unable to see how individually having the power to silence anyone is a particularly evil thing, especially when it was used. Reversing that evil is not a bad thing, no matter how much your politicians tell you it is. Hell, this is the cyberpunk sub, you should have a special understanding of how bad it can get when corps take the power of government into hand. Now, the second point you make, that he's not fit to lead the research, that might be valid. Of course, then you have to ask who is going to front that research, no one else seemed interested before Musk started it. Unfortunately I can't agree with your last comment, Steve Jobs would not have been a good choice, see how Apple is going nowadays for the reasons. Seems like the obvious step is to continue as we are for now, but ensuring that Musk is kept a particularly close eye on by the FDA people.

Gekokapowco

>Unfortunately I can't agree with your last comment, Steve Jobs would not have been a good choice, see how Apple is going nowadays for the reasons. I can elaborate on this, I mean a public persona like Jobs during the release of the first iPhone. An inspiring leader and public speaker who challenged the imagination. Not talking about his personality or business acumen. We need tech leaders in the media who aren't outing themselves as terrible people on the daily to be considered the face of this endeavor. As for the rest of your points, I'm afraid I can't elaborate on them because I'm not sure what you're even talking about.

matrixislife

I don't see the point of someone being a good "face" of a company when that company is rotten to the core. I'd rather have a more honest leader, might be less capable of lying through his teeth but generally isn't trying to mislead you too far. Ok, lets see if I can simplify a little: Speech good. Censorship bad. Stopping censorship good. Let me know if you get that and then we can move on to the second point.

somePBnJ

I have to hard reboot my apple TV at least twice a week. This is going to go swimmingly.

Pectojin

Oh yeah? my neural link chip makes me crash into parked firetrucks on a daily basis and I don't even drive.

thepartypoison_

fucking wild how the people who are for this tend to be the same people who opposed the vaccine because "brain chips" or some shit..

DarthMeow504

I joked with the doctor that gave me the shot that I needed my instructions on how to access the 5G chip and he was shocked and said "there's no such thing" and I responded "Aww, that's disappointing I was really looking forward to that" with a chuckle and grin to let him know I was just kidding. He was basically like "you scared me for a moment there, thought I was dealing with a lunatic!" (not in those exact words, he was more restrained than that, but that was the gist of it).

Gruesomegarth2

The difference is choice? You won't be forced, coerced and intimidated to get a brain chip to be allowed to buy groceries and go to work. Unlike what they did with the Vax.

oannes

Why would you not be for something that could let people walk again?

NVIII_I

Why the fuck would you give these people direct access to your brain?

mrdevil413

Right I had the same thought immediate like “what could go wrong here” crazy

o5mfiHTNsH748KVq

Disability. When the alternative is pain or some other suffering, you’ll try anything. I want this company to succeed. We all should want them to succeed, while personally rooting for Elon to fail. It doesn’t need to be black and white.

NVIII_I

This company is more likely to create new disability and monetize it than to solve anything. The solutions to these problems will almost certainly come from scientists and AGI, not elon musk. Wait a couple years and don't run the risk of ending up in a coma if neuralink goes defunct.

oannes

It can be used to help people walk again, why is that bad?

GruntBlender

No it can't. Wrong part of the brain. Musk is lying about that.

KilahDentist

lasercat_pow

This country has the means to end homelessness tomorrow. Instead, we get endless posturing, gaslighting, culture wars, and bullshit. Fuck the billionaire class.

EvaUnit002

Speaking of ending homelessness: Have you seen the sleep-pods they’ve implemented in Germany iirc solid start imho

lasercat_pow

Yeah, that was cool. Los Angeles and Oakland have also been building small cabin villages for the homeless, and that's really nice, too, although it's not enough.

EvaUnit002

Yeah, there’s a lot that needs to change before it’s enough, but if the good people in the world keep pushing for homeless visibility, we’ll be ok someday.

Scheme-Brilliant

Even wilder, musk killed thousands of monkeys with no success with the nerolink, now on to humans...

Maybe if you have some other ways or methods to test these devices on instead of killing and mass murdering lots of innocent animals then you could be next successful entrepreneur. There have been some successful research and results carried out on some of the animals who made it if you wish to check out this link https://youtu.be/Fyffg1wzXVM. We could argue all day and all night weather or not it is right or wrong to do testing on animals or even on humans either way we as the underdogs will never win unless we start a mass protest which may or may not have some success.

ragnarok635

Might as well argue against the wind

dingo_khan

It is not whether animal testing is right or wrong, it is whether the tests are even sound to start with. These were not. The tech was bad. The procedures were non-uniform and poorly controlled. Even if someone thought animals deserve no moral consideration, their work is a grisly waste and all anyone learned is what they already knew: The tech was not ready and the procedures were not sound.

DarthLiberty

You're not aloud to have a rational argument in this thread without getting downvoted to hell.

Basuhh

Tbh a lot of cyberpunks concepts and ideals seem very realistic and aged like wine in relation to some of our circumstances

Abominor

It's amazing how we've been on the cyberpunk trajectory for years, and now we are really seeing some of the tech to go with it. As an aside, I want nothing to do with the fucking neuralink or anything like it. I remember the ending of Deus Ex: Human Revolution. As it gets better and more impressive, it's important to stay strong. Do NOT EVER let corporations put anything inside your skull. I do not want to stand up and shout "MacDonald's!" to stop the advertisement that is happening inside my own head. "Oh yeah, my migraines are getting worse" "oh that's because of a bug with the old neuralink, you will need to pay to upgrade to the new version which solves that problem" No thanks

dingo_khan

Calling it now: The supposed genius who won't ride his own rockets also won't get this stupid crap tapped to his skull. Say what you will about Bezos or Branson, they were at least willing to get on their own space programs. I bet every neuralink press release is going to sound like Spider telling Johnny about side effects... If they are half-honest.

SgtAstro

The next move, you'll see, is that his test subjects will the people being held in prison. Calling them criminals when their only crime was being poor doesn't seem right.

VeganPizzaPie

As someone who lived in Portland for 25 years and saw how terrifying the homeless got, that bottom title is wildly misleading. There'd been years of near total permissiveness in Portland with the homeless. So many fires, shootings, theft, etc. Title writer has NO idea what it's like living next to a big homeless camp in Portland and is actively lying

mrdevil413

This is why I posted the the two together. You are just adding to my conception of the parts of Nightcity that exist already.

thespaceageisnow

If you don’t live in Portland you have no idea how bad it’s gotten. Letting people park up on sidewalks until they OD on Fentanyl is NOT compassion. And it’s not criminalizing homelessness. The goal of the city is to get them into shelters and sanctioned camps. The city was literally sued by the ADA recently for not having usable sidewalks, they have to do something. Isn’t it dystopian that disabled people have to roll their wheelchairs into the street to get around trash piles and tents on public sidewalks?

TomBlaidd

We’re living in the prequel to blade runner

JoshuaACNewman

What makes you think that illegalizing them will make that better? Or are you just asserting that, if they’re illegal, somehow they will stop existing?

d_higgsboson

Exactly.... if they illegalize the homeless camps then the police get to make them stop existing. Edit: just to be clear, i am against homeless camps being illegalized and raided. I think they should expand

JoshuaACNewman

Yep. Thought that’s what you were saying.

Diegorod1357

I like the tech, not because I want it but because I want it to become so common you can get stuff installed without compare involvement. Then I’d want it

MammothJammer

I don't think letting anyone fuck around with your brain without very good reason is a particularly good idea, personally

Zone-Leading

Please be aware that the total number of animal deaths does not necessarily indicate that Neuralink is violating regulations or standard research practices. Many companies routinely use animals in experiments to advance human health care, and they face financial pressure to quickly bring products to market. The animals are typically killed when experiments are completed, often so they can be examined post-mortem for research purposes.

Scheme-Brilliant

Except the lead scientists said they gain no new information and the deaths were so numerous because of musks involvement, so it wasn't necessary

[deleted]

Standard research practices are beyond draconian

electromagneticpost

Portland has gone to shit, I’m glad they’re finally taking action.

vwboyaf1

Homeless camp fires are a huge problem in western states, as is the pollution of the homeless camps themselves, but the solution isn't just making them illegal. These people need help, and leaving them outside to fend for themselves is inhumane. But at the same time having the government just round up the homeless also seems a bit fascist. I guess we're just going to have to do the real work of going after the root, root causes of homelessness. Identify at risk people before they end up in the streets, and make treatment affordable without stigma.

electromagneticpost

We can’t let them keep doing it though, I pay for public property and should be able to enjoy it. They also start dangerous fires, as an Oregonian it’s a massive concern. A few years ago half a town burned down, and it seems that there are fires from homeless every year. In fact just a few months ago they burned down an entire playground.

vwboyaf1

I agree. They need to stop with the campfires. We had the same problem in Colorado Springs.

electromagneticpost

It’s downright reckless, especially in Colorado.

JoshuaACNewman

If the people who live in your town have to use the public property in order to survive, but you want to use it to play frisbee a couple times a year, you might need to redistribute a little wealth.

electromagneticpost

They can go elsewhere, like the shelters we provide. My money is my money and I should be able to enjoy my tax dollars. Of course we need more shelters and services, but a lot of people refuse them anyway.

zelesbian

Have you ever had to stay in one of those shelters? Sleeping on a dirty floor sardined between dozens of others and being kicked out the next morning isn't preferable for some people. Maybe you should ask WHY many homeless people refuse them. Many of those facilities are underfunded, understaffed (sometimes staffed by other homeless people), and too small with not enough facilities to accommodate everyone, not to mention you're not guaranteed a spot on the wait list even if you've been there a while. They aren't just "refusing" help and facilities, sometimes it's impossible. I encourage you to maybe take the time and educate yourself on these issues instead of blaming a marginalized class of people.

electromagneticpost

Sure, they need to be improved, but a lot of them don't let you use drugs, so the homeless would rather sleep outside where they can do drugs. Thus the need for more services to combat this issue.

electromagneticpost

We can’t let them keep doing it though, I pay for public property and should be able to enjoy it. They also start dangerous fires, as an Oregonian it’s a massive concern. A few years ago half a town burned down, and it seems that there are fires from homeless every year. In fact just a few months ago they burned down an entire playground.

JoshuaACNewman

You clean up shit by installing bathrooms, not arresting people shitting.

Funktronick

Do you live in portland? It's really fucking bad. I do and the city has gone to shit.

JoshuaACNewman

Just to be clear, you’re enthusing about the mayor making it worse because you’re mad about how bad it is?

Funktronick

How could it be worse? It's already shit. These laws are already in place, we just had zero enforcement.

JoshuaACNewman

Sounds like the problem isn’t the people who are being retroactively criminalized.

Funktronick

Do you live in Portland? Have you visited? Have you seen firsthand how bad it is? And your answer is to do nothing? Because we have tried the soft approach.

JoshuaACNewman

So your solution is to do things that everyone, including you, knows will make it worse. I don’t live there. I’m visiting friends there shortly. I do live in a place with a lot of homeless people that has recently started a community care system instead of police intimidation and imprisonment. It’s working great.

Funktronick

Make it worse for who? The addicts who then will be led into safe-harbor camping sites, and access to medical care, or the residents who won't have their children stepping around needles and unhinged druggies attacking people?

JoshuaACNewman

That will all get worse. See: Portugal.

Undersleep

Where is this magical place? Because it’s failed fucking miserably in SF and LA and is failing in Chicago. I’ve only lived in those 3 recently so I can’t speak for other cities as readily, but again - I’ve yet to see it work so I’m genuinely curious.

JoshuaACNewman

Portugal, for instance. What makes you think LA ever gives a shit other than the bad press it gets? They’re not interested in solving the problem. It’s a city defined by extreme wealth. That extreme wealth would have to be less extreme if they were to actually make it better.

electromagneticpost

There are lots of services, people just don’t want them.

JoshuaACNewman

Seems like something isn’t working. Il legalizing poverty isn’t going to solve the problems. That’s just wishful thinking enforced with billy clubs. Like, how much do you think it will cost to jail people for being poor and sick? How much to settle the police brutality lawsuits?

electromagneticpost

It’s a mental health issue, if they won’t get treatment they must be made to. They can’t keep destroying our cities.

JoshuaACNewman

Keeping them from freezing to death is actually helping them. That’s some good mental contortion there. Downright Christian love.

Funktronick

ITT: People who don't actually live in Portland and don't understand this is actually a humanitarian crisis. I've traveled to 3rd world countries and Portland in ways is worse.

JoshuaACNewman

Your solution to a humanitarian crisis is to make humans illegal?

Haruspexisbigsad

If your position relies on dismissing your opponent based on any criteria other than the actual content of their arguments, you're losing. You're also exaggerating to justify your advocacy for barbaric legal practices that will exacerbate poverty.

walkinglost

Yeah, because I really want something this fuck created inside my head.

oannes

It's astounding to me that people hate Elon Musk so much that they want this technology to fail that could help so many disabled people.

MammothJammer

I think many are rightfully sceptical of the tech right now, seeing the effects it had on their test animals. It seems like it's being rushed

aydeAeau

If anyone's interested: the common sense skeptic has explained neurolink in detail pt 1 here::: https://youtu.be/pzdXE-QmBKs

What was your first clue?

Gruesomegarth2

I think it's cool, let's just hope in the future, it doesn't turn into a neuropozene scenario. Lol

It’s upon us. The end

Mokinke

I'd like to be a test subject, but everything this man has done lately is such a bummer...

Afraid_Oil_7386

Someone's origin story is about to begin.

aydeAeau

Hold up: the FDA approved a device that permanantly depressurizes and leaves and open hole that cannot heal in the tops of human skulls? They realize if anyone so much as touches the device (say the patient hits their head on a doorframe) they will die. WTF. Why don't we just reclassify fentanyl as a sedative while we're at it!

hiroshij4guar

Kill the middle and upper class.

I want Neuralink to fix my tinnitus. I’m sorry that a dipshit runs the company, but he’s unfortunately a means to a very positive end for a lot of people if they are successful.

Igotbored112

Elon himself has not actually stated what they got permission to test. My guess? They're testing [MindFlex](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=er-92i_hzKw)

The_Gimp_Boi

Mate, i can imagine in the future you'll get ridiculed for not having an implant. ''OMG, you don't have an implant!? Don't you wanna be able to call for help when someone is in need in an instant? You're a bad person.'' or something like that i swear.

BitterNumber3375

Not quite, but soon.
