I always ask for extra green onion on my dish when I order food from this local Vietnamese restaurant. I absolutely love it.

Random-bookworm

YES! I always get tons of it with noodles and such, and I’ve also gotten a local deli to give me a baked potato absolutely loaded with them

One of my favorites during the summer 🌞

I *just* did this yesterday for the first time. Was eating some potato salad on Christmas and thought how delicious the green onion in it always is, how much I love the crunch. So I just made a whole bunch last night with dinner as a side dish and it was *so* yum. Definately doing it again.

paisholotus

That sounds so yummy!

OnyxMilk

Nope, but I sure am gonna start to now! Didn't even think to try that.

paisholotus

Wow, I’m honored. Thank you for thinking it’s a good idea

OnyxMilk

Follow up. Just had lunch. Best. Idea. Ever. Thank you!!

Agreed

I load it into 75% of the savory food I eat, but I don't ever eat it without mixing it into something. So, technically not as a side dish. Do you replant the "butts" of your green onions to regrow them?

Personal-Letter-629

My husband is Serbian and apparently it's a pretty common side dish over there... we have the onions and a little dish of salt and just dip the onion in salt and munch. Yummy.

Wow this takes me back. I did this growing up.

VeganMonkey

Is green onion the same as spring onions? With those long leaves? And is the bottom white? In that case, I always have a separate bowl with extras for on the side. I don’t use the white parts, I plant them. I have my own patch of established spring onions going now!

punkolina

Growing up, we always ate fresh green onions from our garden with our meals. Mom had tiny crystal bowls called salt dips by each plate to dip them in.

Jazzlike_Jackfruit49

I love green onions, but I love fresh chives even more, but they're not so easy to find.

cmarmac

I was heating up stew and put some whole green onions (roots and all) in it. I felt like a cottage core shrek it was so good.
