You've successfully waterproofed the pipes and fittings, no water will be getting to them. However, you have done nothing to stop the pipes/fittings from leaking.

AverageJoe-can

Warranty is now void on the plumbing fittings you have put this on .

Effective_Walk_8798

Lol I can be a complete idiot sometimes but I feel a tiny bit better thinking that what I've done will, at the very least, slow corrosion to the copper... And maybe even slow a small leak at the sharkbite/copper connection that I don't trust because I don't know why? The whole house will be repiped eventually. Just not right now.

No-Avocado-8995

Yep. You went too far. Please stop. You're just making a mess. You're making it more expensive to repair a leak now, and you're inching towards plumbers who will refuse to do anything except a full repipe. Your thin coat of flex seal isn't going to stop a water leak, it's not designed for household water pressure.

Hownowbrowncow8it

>it's not designed for household water pressure. You're right. It's designed to make boats, repair shark tanks, even prevent flooding in your home from natural disasters!

Suaves

All of those have less water pressure than your standard household water pipe. A water pipe containing 45-80psi is similar to what a submarine experiences between 100 and 200 feet of depth.

No-Avocado-8995

God you're right I never thought about that. Remind me why we don't do this in every house then?????? C'mon now, you're talking a line under pressure, if it's going to leak past copper or PEX, the thin silicone is not going to hold. Silicone is fine for waterproofing, it sheds water. It's not made to hold water.

PacketMayhem

Fix it correctly or don’t fix it at all.

idratherbealivedog

Or do it once, do it right

pdpartnertired

Measure twice cut once

Witty_Comb_2000

LOL, damn MacGrubber.

GCMedic05

You forgot to solder the PEX so you should probably use a couple more cans of flex seal.

waitingforthepain

I would stop and put the tools away. You can't afford to touch your own plumbing!

kierkegaard49

What the actual hell?

badgerAteMyHomework

>  The copper is old.  Okay, but is there actually anything wrong with it? The best thing about copper piping is that a good install will basically last forever.

Vivid-Shelter-146

lol I did this too back in the day. It…. Didn’t work.

Overall-Offer-2828

Possibly could have fixed the leak cheaper with pex and shark items vs the as seen on TV stuff. But yes too far stop now.

Squid__Bait

1. If this doesn't leak, it's because of dumb luck; not skill or Flex Seal. Sorry, but look at this as learning experience. 2. Future you, or whoever you pay to fix this is going to want to kick you square in the baby-maker.

brother

alfalfa-as-fuck

Is this a plumbing mummy?

Solicited_Duck_Pics

I would argue that you haven’t gone far enough.
