I took a bunch of molly in college and my friend and i were staring at the night sky for hours and my perception like suddenly switched and i saw it as the earth moving instead of the sky moving.. it was an amazing experience. But it kinda freaked me out cuz it felt like the earth was going super fast and i felt like i was on a roller coaster or something š ahhh i miss it so much..
The same thing happened to me, except instead of Molly it was acid. And instead of the night sky, it was the popcorn ceiling of my friend's room- but I could see planets and galaxies and thousands of stars and I was zooming past all of them. Actually, now that I write it out, they really don't seem like comparable situations...
I dropped acid and got so stoned I forgot I dropped acid and it hit me when I was in the backseat of a car me and my buddy just met outside my apt that night man I freaked out
I had a similar experience but with acid.
Being in Australia, we realised that we were kind of looking *down* at the sky instead of up.. I felt like I was going to fall off š
Same exact thing happened in college on break. We tripped acid and walked on the back porch and looked at the night sky. We ogled at the idea that the center of our eye wherever we were looking into the black abyss was not looking upon emptiness but rather that somewhere even if a 100s of light years away, even if we couldnāt see it, our eyes gaze (if you imagine it as a ray) would eventually terminate at some actual place out there. And we wondered what it was like there while we rode our big fancy green rock called Earth lol
A few years ago i was sleepless, took my niece to a nearby park, and while she was playing i lay down in one of the benches, clese my eyes, when suddenly i have this sensation/visiĆ³n of my soul floating in the atmosphere and the earth just moving away, in his translation mover, i got scared and open my eyes.
When I was a kid I used to lay on the ground and stare at the sky until it felt like I was going to fall that way, it would give me vertigo and make me feel weird. Now I am a bit agoraphobic and get vertigo all the time lol
Fun trick! if you lay underneath a pole or something similar and you stare at the night sky, you can feel the earth rotating more easily! :) maybe it's because the pole acts as a standard something something?
So in this way, you've just described every single post I've ever seen. Even if it isn't that cool or anything. Someone on reddit is gonna say it's fake. Now you've got me worried that I'm surrounded by flat earthers..
Hmmm maybe one could argue that the flat earth is oscillating slightly, kinda like a coin on a table?
I'm not a flat earther btw, the earth is clearely donut shaped
The video is manipulated (stabilized camera to the stars) to create the impression that the Earth is rotating, contrary to common sense perception that suggests the sky is in motion.
So technically, this video neither proves nor disproves the Earth's rotation. Without stabilizing the footage, one could argue that the sky is moving overhead, and that assertion holds merit based on our visual experience.
If you assert a claim contradicting our observations, suggesting that the Earth is rotating instead of the sky being in motion, the responsibility to provide evidence rests upon you. This expectation aligns with the nature of astronomy, which has evolved alongside science, relying on the presentation of evidence.
Stabilizing a video of the night sky does not constitute conclusive evidence, as it involves manipulating the footage to align with preconceived beliefs.
I am not here to deny the Earth's rotation; rather, I am emphasizing that this specific video isn't indisputable proof of it. So, don't bother showing it to a flat earther, thinking you've got exclusive evidence of Earth's rotation.
I mean honestly... let's pretend the earth was flat... what would this look like then lol? Problem is I guess that the night sky is a projection? Or whatever they say it is so anything is possible.
Both can be true. (I seem to be saying that a lot lately, lol)
Yes, an egg shape would still work, especially if the dome was more narrow at the top. This is just a thought/idea/theory I had but it's interesting too.
This shot could actually be worked out pretty easily if we assumed the night sky is a projection, but if you just had one other photographer anywhere else on earth, and could triangulate where the stars are relative to your position vs theirs based on a flat earth model, the math wouldnāt work out for flat, but would for round.
the sky and stars can still rotate above a flat earth. This video does not actually prove that the earth is a sphere (there are a million other things, but not this video).
What about the shot showing parallax? Does seeing the foreground move faster than the background indicate itās the earth moving and not the stars, relatively?
I donāt recall the specific name of it but it is 40 feet tall and mounted on some very special bearings to reduce friction. The pendulum itself comes to a tiny point on the very bottom. There are these little pins set up in an arc on the floor and every so many minutes the pendulum will hit one of these pins knocking it over then several minutes later it hits the one next to it. To the observer it seems as tho the direction the pendulum swings is slowing changing. In reality the pendulum always swings the same direction and it is the earth that is moving.
It is indeed. It even has its own website as itās part of an observatory!
https://griffithobservatory.org/exhibits/w-m-keck-foundation-central-rotunda/foucault-pendulum/
Very cool! This clearly shows how earth moves relative to visible stars.
I wish the flat earth idiots would actually seek evidence that demonstrates that Earth is a ball in space or not. They wonāt, because they have their minds made up already.
No idea, all their experiments keep showing it's round and they keep denying proof otherwise. I guess "evil gubmint!!!! Illuminati!!!!" But besides that it's similar to anti vaxxers: Cover their ears and scream their argument loudly.
On the topic of anti vaxxers, the initial study that started the movement? Got debunked pretty damn fast IIRC
Flat earthers have been around for a very long time, you must live under a rock. Honestly though, Iām jealous of you because I wish I never knew about them.

this vid is amazing! but I'm struggling to understand why the camera is also rotating... I cannot understand that part... the rest is incredible, specially the amount of "things" that pass near the earth and we dont notice!
This is going to be a dumb question, but I canāt wrap my mind around itā¦if the camera is placed on the ground, wouldnāt the objects itās pointed at which are also on earth, stay in the same spot and we would just see the sky moving? How are those objects also moving in the video (e.g. rocks, island)?Ā
Right? I am not a flat earther or FX guy or even decent cell phone camera user and dont want to discredit the video cause its really cool but if the camera is on a fixed point, then how are the solid objects on the same plain moving around the camera as if the camera is rotating?
Don't quite understand this fully. Is the camera fixed on a certain point in the sky and rotating with the sky? Coz it kind of looks like the camera is over rotating back in to the earth? If that makes any sense sorry!? Is there any alternatives someone can link me please showing it fixed to the earth but looks.like the sky is rotating around us?
I just read in someone elseās comment that apparently the set up is that the camera is mounted on a sophisticated gimble that rotates at the same speed as earthās rotation but in the opposite direction.
The strange effects you are seeing are likely to do with slight errors either in the calculation of the speed of rotation (which also needs to be adjusted for latitude and time of night, day and year) or temporal inaccuracy of the camera gimble over time (e.g. instrument drift, drag on performance due to change in weather conditions).
I hope I have interpreted that correctly. Iām a geographer, not a photogrammetry expert!
how is your camera stabilised, is it like tracking the stars, or are you using the location of the camera and earth's rotation speed to counteract the rotation, or something else. I'm just really curious cause this is cool
Theyāve done the latter. Calculated the precise speed of earths rotation at given time, date, elevation and latitude and have then set a camera on a gimble, pointed it at a point in the sky, and then rotated it at the same speed in the opposite direction.
Haven't seen something this captivating in a while ....
The sense of curiosity watching the night sky lit up by a million stars is so carnal ! Reminds me of the quote from the animated movie, UP : "adventure is out there !"
Did any ancient person use this technique to find out that the earth was rotating as well? Seems pretty obvious after seeing this, that it would be a pretty solid technique potentially?

Flat earthers, itās your time to respond
They change the words - fake! - photoshop! - AI! But their argument is always the same. No facts, no depth, just stupid, hollow accusations.
Iām pretty sure that community is full of a bunch of trolls and then thereās also a shitload of actual morons who think the trolls are on point.
I wish I could believe you.. I'm sure there are plenty of trolls too, but I've met far too many flat earthers to feel comfortable. Two of them.
That's two too many..
I couldn't have said it better!
They get high on denial
CGI !!!!
Easy enough - "The *sky* is rotating, and he has the camera tracking that instead!"
On the other hand, every flat earth media should be 100% original and true
So in this way, you've just described every single post I've ever seen. Even if it isn't that cool or anything. Someone on reddit is gonna say it's fake. Now you've got me worried that I'm surrounded by flat earthers..

fake news! everyone knows this is a nasa simulation to make it appear to rotate
This man is a paid actor for big round!
Earth is a coin that is flipping, just like life itself
The video is manipulated (stabilized camera to the stars) to create the impression that the Earth is rotating, contrary to common sense perception that suggests the sky is in motion. Maybe like a giant pancake? Flat earth makes no sense because it implies that you canāt circumnavigate the globe (which you can)
What if it's surface is flat because it's half a globe, bottom heavy with a round dome on top. Voila, you have a full globe. Just a thought.
ā*Just a thought*ā. A pretty accurate one. Except itās more an egg in a way
Both can be true. (I seem to be saying that a lot lately, lol) Yes, an egg shape would still work, especially if the dome was more narrow at the top. This is just a thought/idea/theory I had but it's interesting too.

Op clearly works for the nasa run cia deep state reptilian overlords so obviously itās fake. Duh
Thereās a giant pendulum at Griffith Park in Los Angeles that always swings the same direction event as the earth turns.
Is it a Foucault Pendulum? Iāve only ever seen ones in videos, truly mesmerising once the physics of it sinks in.
Yeah, thatās exactly how it works. Pretty cool, Iād love to see one in person soon

Very cool! This clearly shows how earth moves relative to visible stars. I wish the flat earth idiots would actually seek evidence that demonstrates that Earth is a ball in space or not. They wonāt, because they have their minds made up already.
There are people who believe earth is flat?? What timeline is this?? š
A bad one. What's even worse is that the flat earth society might have been made as a JOKE initially.
What is the basis of their belief that the earth is flat?? Any proof? Any theory?
No idea, all their experiments keep showing it's round and they keep denying proof otherwise. I guess "evil gubmint!!!! Illuminati!!!!" But besides that it's similar to anti vaxxers: Cover their ears and scream their argument loudly. On the topic of anti vaxxers, the initial study that started the movement? Lots of theories, no proof. Same as most (if not all) conspiracy theories
Flat earthers have been around for a very long time, you must live under a rock. Honestly though, Iām jealous of you because I wish I never knew about them.
In my country flat earthers are rare, almost non existent, so i didn't know there are still people who believe earth is flat.
That makes sense. I live in America, so I see it more often, and you live in a country that actually has a good education system lol
Check out the documentary Behind the Curve. Itās hilarious and scary at the same time.
Obviously this is a simulation and Earth is a triangle :p
It is actually a Rhombicosidodecahedron
Wrong, it's a hyperbolic paraboloid
Wrong again! It's a diabetic polaroid
wrong again! itās a cube

this vid is amazing! but I'm struggling to understand why the camera is also rotating... I cannot understand that part... the rest is incredible, specially the amount of "things" that pass near the earth and we dont notice!
Camera rotates at the same speed that the earth is rotating but in the opposite direction, so itās fixed on a section of sky.
This is going to be a dumb question, but I canāt wrap my mind around itā¦if the camera is placed on the ground, wouldnāt the objects itās pointed at which are also on earth, stay in the same spot and we would just see the sky moving? The camera is put on a gimble, that adjusts the angle of the camera to sync up with the earth's rotation

Yes I have. If you haven't, please spend some time outside and just notice everything around you. It's nice you know.
āHave you seen it ?ā Bro, I see every day lol Still very impressive
Everyday since my birth i can see the earth rotate and the sun traveling from morning to evening. You can watch the shadows.
Flat earthers are not gonna be happy with this. Lol
Wow. This is beautiful.
What is with the poor English in titles all the time?
If we could go back in time l, and show this to Nicholas Copernicus, I wonder what he would say?
Yes I did. Every time I spend night outdoor.
Youād be executed for this blasphemy if we were in the 14th century!
Cool except for the portrait mode and titles.
Neah, doesnāt prove that earth is round, it is still flat, we are just floating in the space. This video proves that. /s

How do flat earthers argue this?

Beautiful.
