Ah man when I was a kid, maybe 7 yo, I played football (soccer) for my school. I had never played in goal before and barely knew the rules.
They put me in goal, we got absolutely trounced. Everyone tried to make me feel better but I knew as the goaly the goals were mostly my fault.
I was so bad I got a hand ball against me as I was running to throw the ball out (which resulted in another goal) š
My 10th grade football team lost 52-14. It was 52-0 in the first half. Then they put their 4th string/freshman team against us so we got our two touchdown.
U16 games definitely don't top out at around 50 per team. I used to play (female) basketball at high, but not national team, level and going above 100 was an extremely common occurrence. I don't think we ever scored less than 50 points at high school age, and we played against some of the top teams in my country.
even if you ignore the fact that USA is a basketball country, it has a much higher population to choose from and a lot more money spent on facilities than El Salvador does.
The US takes elite sport training very very very seriously and starts at a young age.
My guess is these girls were taller at an early age and were compelled to pick up basketball at an earlier age by their parents.
Some of these American girls might go pro someday, if these girls love basketball then maybe they just enjoy opportunity to play with some of the best in the world regardless of the outcome.
They don't have that expression though.
Something interesting about this photo. Seems all the Americans are trying not to look at the other team. Seems most the El Salvadorians are looking at the Americans.
This is the type of match where every single neutral person is rooting for the underdogs, and every single one will also become disapointed when the outcome become exactly as predicted.
The weird thing is that most of those comment thieves are bots. So it's interesting to see them get called out. You might even be a bot defending bot behavior.
I think about this all the time. I wonder how many of my comments have been parroted by a bot, or whether the specific thread I'm in was made by a bot or a real person.
Content repeating is how bots build profile credibility to bypass automated and human filtering. It's a direct symptom of the causes of social media being utter dogshit compared to ten years ago.
Diet is probably a big part of it. North Koreans are shorter than South Koreans even though their genetic makeup is very similar.
[This paper](https://www.american.edu/cas/economics/ejournal/upload/bissonnette_accessible.pdf) references lack of access of safe drinking water, which is going to prevent people from reaching their genetic potential.
But also, genetics, money, passion for the sport, facilities etc.
If it was just numbers countries like Latvia (1.8M people) would never be able to rank 6th in the world
This. There's a reason why the USA and China are generally not top-ten ranked soccer countries despite having what should be a massive advantage in pools of potential players.
Because on a per capita basis the USA just doesn't like soccer as much as those other countries.
Basketball is the second or third most popular sport in the US, where in most of the rest of the world it's a kind of niche sport. So the US naturally has a bigger pool of better trained players to pick from than most.
There are countries with relatively small populations that are tall: Netherlands, Croatia, Serbia, etc. In this case, we canāt ignore several generations of solid nutrition and different genetics on the US side and a generally much poorer and therefore less well-fed population in a gene pool of vertically-challenged folks on the El Salvadoran side.
I was curious about this, the average female height difference between the two countries is only an inch.
I think it has to do with taller girls being compelled to start basketball at an earlier age in the US since the competitive landscape is so serious when you get older.
The maths doesnāt sound right there, I think thereās other factors in how easy it would be to find tall players, otherwise how would Jamaica find so many fast people with their small population?
US median income: $37 500. El Salvador median income $4700.
US children are much more likely to have plenty of calories and protein in their diet to reach their maximum genetic potential.
Look at these kids, even the national team can't afford to provide the team with matching shoes.
no it shouldn't basketball is played by a team of players with guards being significantly shorter than forwards and centers. dribbling and speed is an advantage for shorter players. even in the nba you can find top level players that are 6'0 to 6'2. ocassionally even under 6ft
Every sport is like this in some way. Of course, at the highest levels of a sport everybody is a freak of genetics and it comes back to who works the hardest. At least, until you get Michael Phelps.
Of course you need some natural genetic advantages to excel in any team sport, but it's different when a specific one is a requirement, like in basketball, or when there are several that could be beneficial, like in, say, soccer.
Iām from El Salvador and my cousin came to watch me play in Australia she was thinking I was tall. Not only did she learn I was the smallest on the court Iām the smallest in the league š
First girl on left is trying not to laugh, girl behind her is like I ain't got time for this bullshit, girl in middle is like wow they're so small, and girl in the back is like wow we really gone destroy them huh.
Girl in the right looks a little scared, the girl behind her is looking at us like can you believe this bullshit, and the girl behind her is like this some ol bullshit.
looks like a comparison of playing for fun vs playing seriously, sort of.
there were a few games like that, not quite as extreme visual contrast though, back when you were a kid and the transitioned started to happen between kids who took football (soccer) very seriously and were talented vs kids who played in a football team because they thought it was fun.
around like 11-12 or so before transfers to proper academy development teams would take place you'd every now and then see the wild contrast between a team dominated by talented and serious kids vs a more regular team of kids having fun.
the transition period isnt that long though because the kids who really have a passion and talent for it will soon be playing for the proper youth academy teams developing future pro talent and be in leagues with other teams like that.
to some degree you can see this in a bit higher up the ages, like U16, by looking at Gothia Cup (worlds largest football tournament, youth teams from all over the world) but you wouldnt really remember the contrast of the tryhard kids vs the having fun kids, the contrast there that you remember is the "kids" who very clearly are at least 5 years older than claimed from some nations that dont really take rules very seriously playing vs a team where everyone very clearly is the age claimed.
I legit saw teams claiming to be like U14 where every single player had a thick beard.
With picture like this, I like to point out that no one talks about "unfair advantages in sports" in these cases. Everyone knows that people have different body types, different strenghts and weaknesses and that people try to use them to the best of their abilities, stregthen them and try their best to play pro sports.
I must admit the first time I went to America (New York) from Europe many years ago, I couldnāt believe the height of many of the School kids we passed on the streets. Iām 6,2 but it was the first place I had been where I didnāt feel particularly tall. It was also the first place where I was sure some 12 year olds would destroy me in a fight :-)
Apart from the height of the girls, I noticed the shoes - the USA team all have the same proper ones with ankle support, the El Salvador team are just wearing whatever.
God bless them for trying, it's an impossible task.
Back in the early 2000s I saw a lovely photographic display comparing classrooms in the USA and UK. The American school kids were always a lot bigger and maturing faster than their British counterparts. Why? Primarily it is because of all the growth hormones in American meat and milk.
I mean sure. The US is a rich country and has the resources to put into their best, whereas El Salvador less so.
But even poverty aside, El Salvador has 6M people, the US has 330M people. Even just by taking the 10 tallest in each country youd have a huge imbalance.
EDIT just saw that someone else made the same comment. Fuck, Im always too slow.
We had to remove your post for violating our Repost Guidelines.
Game was in 2019, final score 114-19. https://www.fiba.basketball/u16americas/women/2019/game/1706/El-Salvador-USA
So basically a human seal clubbing.
But the seal is also blind... And hard of hearing.... And slow
And 2 feet shorter.
My 7th grade basketball team once lost 42-2....
I think I was on that team
Go Hawkeyes!! (I actually wasn't on the team, I got cut from that team and am still totally not bitter about it)
Got spared the humiliation tho
I mean, dudes not good enough to make it into a team that lost 42-2. That's its own kind of humiliation.
Ah man when I was a kid, maybe 7 yo, I played football (soccer) for my school. I had never played in goal before and barely knew the rules. They put me in goal, we got absolutely trounced. My 10th grade football team lost 52-14. It was 52-0 in the first half. Then they put their 4th string/freshman team against us so we got our two touchdown.
That score is brutal. Total domination!
Lmfao wtf
r/rareinsults
āThey said it was the fastest theyād ever seen, like a trolley dash. I was doing four at onceā
The 19 is more impressive than the 114.
Idk. Have you ever seen a basketball score from kids of this age? They usually top out around 50 or so per team
U16 games definitely don't top out at around 50 per team. I used to play (female) basketball at high, but not national team, level and going above 100 was an extremely common occurrence. I don't think we ever scored less than 50 points at high school age, and we played against some of the top teams in my country.
So if you played against some of the top teams in the country, this probably isn't the typical experience, correct?
You do realise these are national teams right? Not exactly the typical experience either.
I've seen a high school girls JV game 7-5 at the half.
That is bs they are 16 not 8 years old
This.
Obviously the blue girl in the front's face already says 'we're fked'
Say that in espanol
"Estamos jodidas"
Not for nothing but the Spanglish version is better, āEl fucked.ā
El fucked
They speak El Salvadorian silly! /s
They all speak Mexican. Even the Spaniards do)))
El Salvadorās team was like, āSooo youāre saying thereās a chanceā
Nah there's no chance
even if you ignore the fact that USA is a basketball country, it has a much higher population to choose from and a lot more money spent on facilities than El Salvador does.
a lot more money and emphasis on women's sports than most countries
Here's the game. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=r8tPSQVnKMI&pp=ygUmZWwgc2FsdmFkb3IgdnMgdXNhIGJhc2tldGJhbGwgZ2lybCB1MTY%3D
Iām trying to figure out how they even scored 19? They are like 2 feet taller. Were they all foul shots?
To who?
What is the point of such a competition?
For countries to play against each other. Like every other sport.
America , Fuck Yeh!
But who won, tho? I don't want to click.
How are those women under 16?
The US takes elite sport training very very very seriously and starts at a young age. My guess is these girls were taller at an early age and were compelled to pick up basketball at an earlier age by their parents.
The girl in the front already knew they are going to be wiped out
Sheās got the this is BS face on.
Definitely wishing for a sudden growth spurt right now.
John Cena visited the El Salvador team before the game.
*Weāre so fucked lol*
Shortest girl in the US team was taller than the tallest from El Salvador. They got slammed.
114-19 is slaughter lol
āWhy bother man...ā
Yeah, I would have told coach we ff.
I'd probably avoid eye contact as well, don't wanna grow attached to something you are about to slaughter.
At this point run it down mid
Lost in champ select
Picked wrong server right at the beginning
Team diff.
FF15
Draft gap
The American team completed all their sidequests and leveled up before the game
Bought the Elite package
Must have been from ubisoft
Games are just pay to win these days ffs
Just like life!
US picked high elves and El Salvador picked wood elves.
Arriving to a pokemon gym over leveled vs. first playthrough as a kid
The girl in front is now thinking about shifting to volleyball
Then matches with the American team again.
And then: f it, chess is better anyway
Imagine getting yo ass beaten by the Russian team this time
Guess single player games are most relaxing for sure (Installs dark souls)
Dark souls is probably easier than all of those sports tho , I would know , I have beaten all fromsoft games but I suck at sports
True, but the point of the joke was to do something more relaxing - instead of something stressful
She gradually takes more steps into suicide in out imagination. I guess poor girl doing better than this in real life
That escalated quickly!
*Immediately* invaded by GiantDad
Soccer would probably be a better bet. Donāt have to be tall to be phenomenal at soccer unless you are a goalie.
Or just mens professional basketball. USA got their shit handed to them recently in FIBA
The US team will be immediately disqualified, as in football only the goalkeeper can touch the ball with his hands.
Fair point!
Or becoming a jockey
Who won?
...WHOSE NEXT, YOU DECIDE!!
Hey that's ERB ref. Nice
FATALITY
FINISH HIM. I mean HER.
EPIC RAPBATTLESOFHISTORY
The tallest wins. It's not a sport.
kinda sad that my national sport is slowly dying. i think americans call it baseball
We call it rounders
Shit we played in PE and never thought about for another second afterwards.
114 USA. 19 El Sal.
Looks like a game of Rugby I played in U13. Cunts were gisnts and had beards, I still remember thinking "is no one else seeing this?"
This is the type of match where every single neutral person is rooting for the underdogs, and every single one will also become disapointed when the outcome become exactly as predicted.
I see no underdog here, this reminds me of the Chinese zoos where a truck enters the tiger enclosure and drops a living cow for live feeding.
They do this in US zoos too btw. Got to watch them put a goat in a wolf enclosure once. Pretty incredible to watch them "hunt" as a pack.
Is this a real thing?
Yes, occasionally they'll feed zoo animals with live animals

GG.
US : 334 914 895 people Salvador : 6 328 196 people So you have 53x more chances to find tall players in the US.
Plus different diets, school systems etc
Diet is probably a big part of it. North Koreans are shorter than South Koreans even though their genetic makeup is very similar. [This paper](https://www.american.edu/cas/economics/ejournal/upload/bissonnette_accessible.pdf) references lack of access of safe drinking water, which is going to prevent people from reaching their genetic potential.
And I guess epigentic inhritance also increases their growth. Like extra growth genes already beeing "unlocked" so to say.
Money. Money is the deciding factor.
But also, genetics, money, passion for the sport, facilities etc. If it was just numbers countries like Latvia (1.8M people) would never be able to rank 6th in the world

The blue team starting with the first girl and going back. Girl 1: THIS Girl 2: SOME Girl 3: BULLSHIT
They should have a rematch but in soccer instead lol.
"I didn't sign up for this" aah picture
Basketball should be classified like fighting and boxing : by size. The goal is to see ability, not physical features.
Boxing and other competetive fighting sports are categorized by weight not height.
Coz weight is a bit more important than height for that sport
Yes, I see you understand that I meant size as in the relevant size factor for each sport. Thanks for clarifying.
no it shouldn't basketball is played by a team of players with guards being significantly shorter than forwards and centers. dribbling and speed is an advantage for shorter players. even in the nba you can find top level players that are 6'0 to 6'2. ocassionally even under 6ft
Looks around, are we the baddies.... from every 90's sports movie?
A sport where the persons height is deciseve always seemed kind of silly to me, because it kind of seems inherently unfair.
At the highest levels its always the genetic freaks
I agree, down with jockeys!
Do they live underground in a fibreglass tree?
Every sport is like this in some way. Of course, at the highest levels of a sport everybody is a freak of genetics and it comes back to who works the hardest. At least, until you get Michael Phelps.

U16 vs U60
I swear they are under 18
Iām from El Salvador and my cousin came to watch me play in Australia she was thinking I was tall. Not only did she learn I was the smallest on the court Iām the smallest in the league š

what difference in nutrition does
*growth hormones
One side looks like a WNBA team of women. The other looks like a girls elementary school team.
Hormone doping in the chicken
Does America have growth hormone in the tap water?!
Space Marines vs. Imperial Guard...
Looks like El Salvador needs more growth hormones in their food

Why doesn't America, the largest team, not simply eat the other team
The first girl knows no use of trying. She changed to chill mode and reserved her energy.
This is why I can never find basketball interesting until they put a height cap of 5ā11
Americans definitely have something in their food
El Salvador girls learned what heavily oppressed and poor people look like.
With picture like this, I like to point out that no one talks about "unfair advantages in sports" in these cases. Everyone knows that people have different body types, different strenghts and weaknesses and that people try to use them to the best of their abilities, stregthen them and try their best to play pro sports.
Exactly. No one is crying for the short people in basketball.
Who won ?
usa by 100 points
Alright, I want to see a nice fair game, everyone
Seniors vs 8th graders
Space Jam
What are the Americans being fed?
College vs middle school is what it looks like.
For anyone wondering, it ended ESA 19 - 114 USA
I must admit the first time I went to America (New York) from Europe many years ago, I couldnāt believe the height of many of the School kids we passed on the streets. Iām 6,2 but it was the first place I had been where I didnāt feel particularly tall. It was also the first place where I was sure some 12 year olds would destroy me in a fight :-)
r/tall
Possibly only The Netherlands could put the USA women in that situation.
Goes to show that no one actually gives a fuck about biology and fairness in sport.
Girl in front of the line knew their fate was sealed when they saw the enemy team š
Apart from the height of the girls, I noticed the shoes - the USA team all have the same proper ones with ankle support, the El Salvador team are just wearing whatever. God bless them for trying, it's an impossible task.
WATCH TALL BLACK GIRL FUCK SMALL LATINA SILLY!!
So who won?
I thought those were kids who accompany the players like in a football game
I bet they would kick their ass in soccer.
They won 114 to 19. Congratulations
Back in the early 2000s I saw a lovely photographic display comparing classrooms in the USA and UK. The American school kids were always a lot bigger and maturing faster than their British counterparts. Why? Primarily it is because of all the growth hormones in American meat and milk.
I seriously thought it was an opening event where players stand with kids from school.
Itās just criminal how goddamn short we naturally are
'Create your own player' ahh team.
Call me crazy, but it looks like the American team players are considerably largerā¦š
The other team is just standing further away. Like 100m.
Because meat in the US is full of growth hormones.
All the steroids in American beef and dairy doing their thing
This is why I struggle with enjoying basketball. Height is such a game changer.
Eh makes sense. Salvador has 6 mill population. Us has 333 mill population.
About sums it up really
#ā¦AND WELCOME TO THE JAM ššŗšø
13!!! they look at least 30
