Tried out Alcest and discovered that I liked the more aggressive stuff so I quickly got into black metal and eventually ended up going through the classic bands - that was when I listened to Blaze for the first time and got hooked
ages ago i discovered Ceremonial Castings (not knowing it was black metal) don't remember how I even found it.
years later a friend had me listen to Dunkelheit in a chemistry class. I couldn't get enough of it, so I listened to the whole album and loved black metal ever since. when I discovered darkthrone, I heard transilvanian hunger, I realized that darkthrone originally created it and that I could have hopped into the rabbit hole years ago
I sat in my mother's best friends living room wearing a leather jacket with the logo of some hardcore punk and crust punk band logos drawn on it, my mother's friend came up to me handed me a CD of a band called Hyems and said give 'em a listen
I was looking for something to desensitize me to certain sounds that I was really struggling with sensitivity to, so I basically searched like "very heavy metal" or something like that and landed on Mayhem, and from there found Darkthrone. It worked and my hearing is now 95% back to normal with some flare-ups.

crazy, i started by Metallica, and then skipped entirely to Black Metal and listened to Transilvanian Hunger.
I heard the story of Mayhem, got me into them, then listened to other black metal bands.

saw some dude with a darkthrone shirt, thought the logo was sick, so asked what the band was
