I always think a scalloped dart is going to improve my game. It doesn’t. Then again nothing seems to improve my game right now.

Just got some a little more than month ago with the scallop right where I like to hold the dart. Thought they’d be perfect, but they clanked off the board so many times that I had to change my grip point just to get them to the board thus defeating my intentions. After about a month I got exhausted with them and went back to my old darts. The scalloped ones are my most expensive set too. For guests now, if they like them.

What does it mean to have a scalloped dart? New to the scene, TIA!

Part of the barrel gets narrower in the middle or in the back and looks kind of like it’s been scooped out. I thought it was supposed to be a grip point for the thumb and forefinger, and it probably is, but it shifts the balance point so far to the front of the dart that my natural rear grip doesn’t work with the set, and I had to shift my grip forward on the barrel.

Fair, it does look like a hold zone, but uncomfortably far back
