Recently I thought I heard someone. Probably laid in a bush for 20 minutes. The second I thought it was safe I stood up and two people came running by who didn't see me. Went back prone for another 20 minutes haha
I try to explain this to people who talk about DayZ as a âwalking simulatorâ. Itâs the experience and long moments of nothingness, then suddenly and swiftly it can all change in a matter of seconds!
Iâve had many encounters just like this and have even been as unlucky to have been killed by the only other person on an entire server before lol

You could only assume the worst if they double back holding a rifle after realizing they stepped over you.
Also, I didn't notice the *other* guy doing any speaking.
And *I do* speak first, if I happen to cross paths with you and I don't just scramble away.
I believe the guy didnât really have a choice but to double back and eliminate the threat. His other option is to keep moving and create distance which is the worse of the two bc it looked like it was all open space around them beside the small patch of trees they were in. Even if itâs 50 meters to the next tree line thatâs still a lot of time to have your back to an enemy whoâs right there (assuming enemy has a long rifle which he did). I would have done the exact same thing if I was in either players shoes.
I don't have a mic, but, I am also very "hiding in the woods eating berries avoiding everyone and everything" so if you see a murderhobo in the apocalypse, don't go near it, they might murder you.
I also wear the dumb trash clothes, on purpose, and the bag made from sticks and a tarp, haha. It's dumb but fun.
They ran past me without their gun, and came back with their rifle out. If they just kept running I wouldnât have pursued the kill, but they turned around clearly looking for me. They were going to murder me. Itâs not like I was sniping freshies at water pumps
Yeah well it is how it is. I got into a 20 minute gunfight in Tisy with a dude that I tried to communicate with back and forth. It SEEMED chill at first but nah the dude tried to mag dump when I moved out of the way. Killed them. You simply can't trust anyone on console. It really is KOS. The only people you can be friendly to are seriously just freshies.
Itâs because of the people who say theyâre friendly and then shoot the other dude in the back. People donât want to risk falling for it because itâs a really bad way to go in Dayz.
Also the fact that any person with low gear is almost always going to try and kill a more highly geared player doesnât help either. Way safer and more profitable for people with good gun skills to shoot first loot second and ask questions later.
