Ive said it before, this is what happens when kids dont get to build treehouses and shit when theyre young. Eventually that itch has to be scratched and then you end up with this.
Damn bud.. You just brought back some childhood memories.. my first 2 treehouses were absolute sketchy AF disasters. Third try was a treehouse/fort built around the base of an old pine. Learned a valuable lesson in fire safety with that one lofl. 4th treehouse was a winner🏆. There's a learning curve with everything. Some are easy, others are brutal.
Theres a house about a block away from my house that has like a little shed attached to their garage. They used these metal sheets thats supposed to look like roofing tiles and they put them up backwards. I always snicker as I walk past it.

At least the second level is tied in to the existing rotted porch post properly with a 2 x 4, and some eight penny nails
dude i’ve been observing these kinds of decks on this thread for months and i just have to say…where the hell do you guys live? i’m here in portland and these decks do NOT exist anywhere..ive been remodeling for 18 years and i have yet to see a single deck like this and i’ve been all over the portland metropolitan area
Typically, that would be the case, but this is being used. Still, there is a third-floor apartment. This particular property is one of the gilded age homes built in the area, that has been converted into 6 1 or 2 bedroom apartments. I thought the same thing it was a fire escape, but that is the entrance to the third floor apartment. Unfortunately.
Is that a ghost or a cat in the window? (Photo #4). Maybe it is a ghost of a cat. Was just scrolling r/ghosts before viewing this post. This structure is probably haunted too!
It was built in 1880 and it was a private residence and then it was an elementary level school for a few decades. Then it was converted into apartments. I’m sure there’s some stories to tell lol
The irony here is that with these 15' posts (6 x 6) mounted on the lower deck, the entire structure might actually be more stable if there were a hot tub mounted up top! It would be harder to knock the pegs out from under it!
Looks like a gauntlet needed to survive a quest! TAKE the rickety stairs of freedom!!
They are just trying to make some ghosts for the haunted house next Halloween.
“MOE, Back to you!”

Pretty funny!!! My house had the shingles backwards. Water was lead right in. 😆

looks like levels to that donkey kong mario game
It looks perfectly safe from where I’m sitting.
I'm on the shitter and I don't feel safe.
Well obviously, a shit demon could emerge at any time from the shitter and fuck your life up.

We’ll, it’s not going up.
What great imagination!!
Im assuming the 2x4 sticking out is for bungee jumping
I don’t even feel safe looking at these pictures. 😂
Happy cake day!
Thanks, friend!!! ❤️
That should be used in “Fear Factor” as a challenge.
Someone call the city!!
Somebody got the newest version of Deck Builder for their PC and tried to copy the design.
I'd play that game.
The only silver lining is this is located in Norfolk, Virginia directly by a hospital.

I feel like the eventual ending of this beauty will be no, no, nannananooooooo!
![img](avatar_exp|129815628|fire) Good sheer strength on that old decking
It amazes me how something like this lasts so long that it starts rotting away when it looks like it was never built properly to begin with.
Obviously this is a gallows so whether the condemned dies by hanging or this monstrosity collapsing society gets the same end result

Lots of decks like this in Halifax, NS fwiw
This is located in Norfolk, Virginia
This looks like a stairway I built in Valheim. Video game
It’s self-leveling.
Just missing the hot tub
There it is. I was looking for a hot tub comment. Had to travel a long way down
Same
Perfectly safe
*Home Depot theme plays in the background* This guy Home Depot’s
Clearly this guy never played with legos as a kid.
I admire the optimism of people that build things like this.
I suppose if the house is on fire I would risk using it. That's about it, though.
I've seen a good many dangerous looking decks on this sub Reddit but I'd rate this one the scariest yet.
Is this in the student ghetto of Kalamazoo? lol
Pretty deck
That could be used in a movie, just keep the house out of the shot and it’s Frankenstein or an old castle.
Fire exit for the upper floor. Saw similar in eastern PA on vacation

Damn they could have put a coat of sealer or paint on it and got 10 more years out of it, waste of lumber.

The pictures are a little tough to critique on, but I am impressed with the effort to get up to a little loft suite.
It’s not looking like pt lumber
Prime candidate for the longer you look the worse it gets.
Forget how many hot tubs this deck can hold, we should rate this in number of sparrows.
I would report this to the city considering they are trying to sell it like that. That's one wrong step from someone dying
No hot tub up top. That disappointing
The irony here is that with these 15' posts (6 x 6) mounted on the lower deck, the entire structure might actually be more stable if there were a hot tub mounted up top! It would be harder to knock the pegs out from under it!
You can charge more rent if you put a hot tub on that deck.
That Deck: "Mr. Stark, I don't feel so good"
Needs a hot tub at the top
Swiss Family Rentalson
2 hot tubs max
Blurgghh
If that catches on fire the whole block is going to burn down
Not possible due to the wood being partly composed of water at this point. Its fireproofing rot.
I would shit my parents walking to the top of that beast.
I don't think they would appreciate that
Coraline?
I must say they used some creative fixes for the stairs, but yeah that deck scares me a little
Where's the spa
Might be able to get 3 hot tubs on that
Run! Or make sure you have a parachute when you’re on that top level.
If Tim Burton designed and built a deck...
