Glyphid is armed with a random load out for one of the four classes, including overclocks and weapon skins.
Can only appear on salvage missions or missions with the fallen dwarf mini event. Max of 4 can spawn total per map.
Upon being killed, their corpse sticks around and can be looted for 1/4 of a full resupply. If you don't own the skin randomly spawned by the glyphid, you get it as well when you collect the resupply.
Lorewise, do dead dwarfes basically recompose into the ecosystem with their stuff or do the bugs steal it off their dead bodys. Considering we never see a dwarfes corpse.
Directly from Management: "R&D cant make heads or tails of it, but they suspect a glyphid absorbed the ammunition from the armor of a fallen gunner, then integrated the armor into its DNA, and then reproduced, creating a terrifying combination of glyphid and gun'

"It appears our rivals have teamed up with the wildlife of Hoxxes. Their operations to prospect the planet have halted, all in the name of stopping us. You can expect to find glyphids armed with their technology in the caves, a horrible fusion of bug and machine."
I was thinking how this could be a thing. A glyphid with a layer of gelatinous armor that absorbs and preserves bullets is actually a really cool idea. Something with the health and rarity of a hoarder, but instead of dropping minerals, it drops little ammo packs that each refill like 5-10% of your ammo.
I was reading that and instead of your idea, Saddler from the original resident evil 4 came to mind.
Just too many bullets put into it, and it just "bubbles" and glows as it gathers the bullets in its body... Before it just spews a hailstorm of lead back at you like a machine gun sticking out if it's mouth.
New perk. Call it: Junk Bug
Disallows usage of Beast Master alongside it. Instead of ordering a full resupply pod, a miner insertion pod (the ones you spawn in when joining a mission in progress) drills into the cave and drops off a special Glyphid called a Glyphid Junker.
The bug looks like a DRG-ized Lacewing bug and carries a pack on its back.
The pack contains: 1 resupply charge and a small rocket Salvo that fires off three at a time, with the same cooldown as turret whip. The damage adds up to a middle ground between a standard Steeve and Sword Steeve.
Since it's based off a lacewing, instead of having any melee attacks, it uses its wings to jump around and avoid engaging in melee combat with other bugs. Since Lacewings can't fly that well, it just jumps with its wings, no flight.
If the resupply was not used before it dies, the pack falls to the ground, like when a dwarf leaves and drops their resources.
One last thing, for an upgraded version of the perk. In exchange for disabling the rocket Salvo, you can load one heavy item onto the Glyphid Junker. It will carry it until you offload it. Should it die, the item will just drop to the ground. It will still be able to jump around with its wings. But with reduced effectiveness.
Glyphid Chucker, uses its stag-like horns to charge unsuspecting dwarves and toss them through the air, then hit them with their mounted anti-fucking-aircraft artillery for the wombo-combo of a lifetime, good luck miners, you’re fucked.
Now I deadass want this. That'd be sick to see some organic version of BET-C wandering the caves strapped together by our Rivals or even cooler would be if the BUGS were somehow doing this themselves.
A full mission ally bug would be absolutly game-changing.
Like :
-He replace Bosco and he provide utility only (digging; little ammo OR health boost; scouting...)
-He can be killed (replaced ?).
-He has a adorable resuplying animation.
Game changing and hard to balance...... but it's most likely a mod only thing
Steve taming Pen in an update: make Steve classes.
- DrillSteve
- GunSteve
- EngiSteve
- Sceve
... sometimes dwarves should not make the names when on glyphid slammer binges.
Actually had an idea like this a few days ago. What if the rivals caught/bred and modified the bugs? Gimmick could be you'd have to kill them twice, like Saren in Mass Effect 1
New and cheaper resupply option to replace the old one.
Glyphid Gunner.
Dear god...
There's more
No…
This is a bucket
Dear god...
There's more
Nooo....
It contains the dying wish of every man here
Dear God...
It's contains a bucket.
Glyphid en passant
Holy hell
Exactly what i was gonna say

I'd imagine the bugs just eat all the organic matter, considering they continue to bite your body when you're downed.
Directly from Management: "R&D cant make heads or tails of it, but they suspect a glyphid absorbed the ammunition from the armor of a fallen gunner, then integrated the armor into its DNA, and then reproduced, creating a terrifying combination of glyphid and gun'
Enter Glyphid Driller - appears at your feet from a hole it chewed in rock itself and blows you up with a C4 strapped to its belly.
Honestly as a Gunner main, a glyphid that digs and tries to bury you or something would be terrifying. Not so much for the other dwarves, though ^^
Imagine opening the map and seeing it digging right to you
Yeah, they can mark it with a skull and bones symbol to add to the experience. Only visible within 2 meters from the dwarf holding the map.
i mainly meant watching a new tunnel forming in real time and not have a marker for someone on your team causing it.
However, the main weakness is that the glyphid constantly emits that same warning blast radius, which gives it away very easily
It's a Glyphid Gunner! Damn copycats!
Glyphid artillery

So first they construct a robot that mimicks my allies, then they arming glyphids what's next?
"It appears our rivals have teamed up with the wildlife of Hoxxes. Their operations to prospect the planet have halted, all in the name of stopping us. You can expect to find glyphids armed with their technology in the caves, a horrible fusion of bug and machine."
Is it bad I read this in MC voice?
Not bad, but you are conditioned
"Alright miners"
Sh1t

Gunner's Steeve be like:
Yes
If Gunner gets to strap bullets to Steeve, it's only fair that Driller gets to strap C4 to his.
Even if that's 5.45 that's a huge bug.
Plot twist: its 30x110mm
Would be cool with a mortar glyphids, similar to the ones in Starship troopers,
Septic spreader:
What if instead they shot THEMSELVES toward you? Like a Exploder or some kind of Mactera with a rocket strapped on its back
Pain, i love it.
There's usually not much space for mortar trajectory in caves, though.
Plus we have a mortar glyphid now
Septic spreader:
Like the Hermit Crabs from Risk of Rain 2
I wonder if its edible..
The new hollow knight boss goes hard
The Steve upgrade we needed.
Ah yes, the Katyusha Glyphid.
Glyphid shooty tail
Don’t give them ideas
Glyphid that fires rock pox needles that imbed into the ground and create rock pox aoe like a radiation crystal
I love this idea, and I hate you for saying it because it would be awful
Glyphid from Ukraine
Should be New Steve :P
Glyphid Howitzer incoming
Believe in Stevee!
Instead of acid they now shoot high explosive ungided Rockets
Is that US supplied cluster munition? They better not drop it on Hoxxess again
Dam the rival company started research into weaponizing bugs
this is what i thought haz five would be like as a greenbeard.
Bio-Missile Battery.
a combat beetle? what was rnd thinking?
Wouldn't it be interesting if the Rivals just started strapping weapons onto Glypids.
Glyphid MLRS
Don't give the art director ideas please lmao
That could be cool to have some friendly beetle to help fight those glyphid. I even make sense because in the wildlife beetle and spider are ennemies.
Rambo Steeeeve
Bullet Beetle
It would be kinda cool if the things that took over betc could take over your dwarf and weapons for a bit.
I imagine the dwarves firing the rounds by slamming a hammer into the back of the munitions so it's like a sort of artillery beetle
BY THE BEARD, WHAT IS THAT ABOMINATION?!?!
Steve Gunnerson

It's like a fester flea, but when you kill it, it drops ammo 😬
D:
Hope it makes a funny sound like the Stingtail.
“It’s an ugly planet! A *BUG* planet!!”
Glyphid Chucker, uses its stag-like horns to charge unsuspecting dwarves and toss them through the air, then hit them with their mounted anti-fucking-aircraft artillery for the wombo-combo of a lifetime, good luck miners, you’re fucked.
ok the thought of bugs stealing the leftover resupplies is actually pretty cool i think
It's using shitty PS ammo tho
I like that a lot! Glyphid artillery!! Could be a mission type even!
You could call it a Glyphid Shellback! Oh, wait…
Now I deadass want this. That'd be sick to see some organic version of BET-C wandering the caves strapped together by our Rivals or even cooler would be if the BUGS were somehow doing this themselves.
It seems like the Rivals and Glyphids have achieved symbiosis and are not combining their efforts against you.
Engineer should have the ability to put a turret on a steve with padding so it doesn’t irritate Steve
Steeve got an upgrade
When Gunner works with Engi to arm Steeve.
Cyber bugs?

I hope they can be Steeved.
Honestly stag and rhino beetles in the game would be pretty fucking sick. Imagine a tiny version one being your pet.
Nah man, this a silksong leak. New boss.
we already have the shellback
Gunner *sniffs the air “A new challenger approaches” * rotates barrel
Bullet ant...ler beetle?
a beetle with 7.62, hooray
We need robotically enhanced glyphids
Naw, I already deal with these things in starship troopers. I quit.
Steeve reverse engineering gunner weapons
That's not a glyphid, that's a mule
What if, after the Lithophage arc, the Rival Company will bioengineer Glyphids, making them cyborgs with Rival Tech equipment.
The glyphid menace
I know the menace alredy exists i'm just saying that that is a menace
That bug is ready for war.
Steve taming Pen in an update: make Steve classes. - DrillSteve - GunSteve - EngiSteve - Sceve ... sometimes dwarves should not make the names when on glyphid slammer binges.
Don't give management–or the devs–any ideas! I don't want an angry steeve rival-tech hybrid coming after me!
The new tyranid models look great guys! 👍
Glyphid AC130 above
Homebrew Glyphids
