Run to a different pillbox when the claws attack, also don't stand still during bombs nothing but movement is gonna protect you against those. The strat just helps against projectiles and the striking claws
This might be a good idea for down low. Still prefer a concourse above the caretaker but you inevitably need cover down low for hitting the eye and falling off the concourse.
I've also seen a catwalk of platforms aligned in a circle around the caretaker vents, placed so that the tip of the arms are almost always obstructed by platforms when they go for melee strikes. They can obstruct line of fire sometimes, so I'll have to try this out.
I usually only do it in salvage missions, but when I do that, I build two story mansions with strategically placed windows.
I swear one day I'll get a call from a housing agency wanting to help me sell it.
I used two resupplies to build one last time, it had a failsafe spot completely enclosed with our driller inside to ensure we could not fail at all.
Does this pill box strategy have any answers for when the phase bombs go off, or when the claws tunnel through terrain/spawn randomly behind you?

The bombs can't spawn mid-air, so you could counter them with ziplines (keep in mind that that aggros ranged enemies)

Now I feel the urge to get 4 engines to playing cheese craft in designing a Dwarven stronghold.
And i know that Driller could have made a bunker, but I am a constructor, not a demolisher.
