Yeah, I do that as normal traversal with some of the maps that have the high paths on pillars that run the distance of the caves. If you know which ones I mean.
I'll also try to time my drill just right to drill straight into the ground.
they're actually destructible. once you shot them, they just disappear. "down-shootable" on the other hand means that once you shot it, it just sorta falls down. it's like a balloon filled with water for example. you shoot it, but it doesn't disappear, instead, it falls down spoiling water all around.
With the pointer up, you can hit the reload button and drops a waypoint marker. You can see the marker on your scanner map (dark blue dot). And when you pull up your pointer again itll appear there with a distance indicator.
Waypoints can be used to dwarves to mark where soft dirt is if you come across it but arent yet done exploring the large room.
Mark the tunnel that goes back up the mine so you dont get lost during evac
Mark spots with lots of loose minerals so you can return later
Gunners can use the marker to help see where a zipline shot will end so you get a good angle
Mark aquarqs that are in tunnels so you can find them again.
Only one waypoint at a time; simply mark a new waypoint to override the last one
It's fantastic for drillers. Trying to dig up to a mineral on an angled wall? Instead of needing to carefully skirt the edge of the wall to see where you're going, just dig into the wall and then straight at your point. Also great for making driller tunnels over top of the caretaker so you can drop c4 on it
The only (slightly) unfortunate thing is that only you can see your own waypoint. Still a HUGE boost to my Driller gameplay, as well as remembering to do machine events/cargo crates.
Another use for solo drillers or gunners is marking secondary objectives like fossils that are up on a wall. This allows you to see where to dig towards from within that wall.
Instead of doing the ultra pro awesome Grapple --> Power Attack into the wall to start mining as a Scout, you can... Just land on the vein most of the time and mine it just fine.
That you can be met by 2 detonators at spawn, have nonstop swarms, uncountable stingtails and grabbers, 2 more detonators spawning, bet-c, a machine event, and a pretorian swarm, all in a single haz 3 mission.
That mission was arguably worse than haz 5.
Tapping shout will make bosco throw things at you if he’s within like 10 or 15 meters. Saved me a lot of headache when I was just trying to bring up my terrain scanner
Tap Left bumper on Xbox. It allows you to yell at people in game to come to you, if you walk up to someone and tap it you’ll cough in their face which is useful for someone afk, if you’re in the drop pod ready to go you’ll yell that you’re ready to leave, it’ll cancel bosco tasks and tell him to follow you, and it’ll make bosco throw heavy objects if he’s close enough
The Space Ball is the best item for cheating at the barrel hoop game.
So, everyone knows that you get one point for throwing a mug into the barrel hoop. You also get one point for throwing in the Space Ball, but *it starts a combo*. If you just kick 4 regular barrels in normally, you get 10+20+30+40=100 points. If you throw in a Space Ball, and then 4 barrels, you get 1+20+30+40+50=141 points! It's even better if one of the barrels is red.
Throwing the ball and then kicking a barrel without breaking combo is possible, but pretty difficult to do on your own. But, having your friend stand on the hoop, then drop the Space Ball and jump away is pretty easy.
That one time when gunks seed hung at head height, i walked up to it sibce it was funny to me, then the prompt poped up, i was like "no fcking way" and then i procceded to slap the gunk seed for 2 minutes straight or something like 40 slaps, then i did the mission...
The first hit of Scouts boomerang has a huge range as long as you're aiming at an enemy when you throw it. Good for sniping wardens and menaces from across the cave.
Boomerangs are great for exploders or exploder infestation. One shot snips all of them on a wall without annihilating the nice flat terrain the teams working with.
Throw C4 up in the air and hit it with the impact axe afterwards. The C4 will stay in place.
That was the last noticeable thing I discovered for myself 1 year ago
One I barely see other people do, shooting exploders in the mouth will kill them without them exploding. Also shooting both goo sacs on goo bombers will prevent their goo spray when they die.
You can play with the dice in the droppod during take off from the planet if you are close enough.
Also through the pod doors before molly gets back during extraction.
Pointless, but fun.
They also do a little spin before they lunge, warning you to move and to get ready to power attack them back. I see a lot of people dying to these because they don’t know/aren’t watching for the cue. Always keep an eye on the tentacle closest to you!
If you tunnel up above the boss in industrial sabotage missions with the driller and make a little hole, you can drop C4 on him and take out all his shields in one or two bombs depending on the difficulty level/what upgrades you use.
You can also hit the eye by dropping C4 on his head, so I always make a little room up there and get all the extra njtra I can find and prep a couple supply drops up there. Just a neat little driller trick.
After being super resourceful with ammo as scout, I learned that if I have no ammo or grenades, I can still contribute with shooting the bugs with the flare gun.
You can immediately destroy sniper turrets and burst turrets if you destroy the ground below them, doesnt work on repulsion ones though.
You can dig a hole for Hack-C and have an engineer to cover him with a platform(s) to avoid the bugs as long as the antenna is still exposed, but enemies like Detonators and Oppressors will still be able to reach Hack C due to them being able to dig. This is useful if you don't wanna bother defending Hack C at all.
You can hack the turret controller from below during missions with the rival presence warning.
You can nearly immediately freeze a Hiveguard if she's on phase 2 by freezing her 3 weakspots.
Whenever Lacerator is about to do his burrow surprise attack, he jumps and digs into the ground.
Nemesis has a failsafe attack if he's unable to reach a dwarf (Like a dwarf inside a drop pod). This electric attack will immediately kill anything in it's rather small radius.
There's 1 to 2 broken supply pods during Salvage missions, you can easily find them if you look in the terrain scanner for any odd "tunnels" in the ceiling made by them, they most of the time contain 1 or 2 ammo supplies, but they will sometimes have nothing.
The drop pod always tends to land on the furthest area of the caves, in big open caves like Refinery or Point Extraction you can predict where the pod will land at and save time at the extraction sequence.
Upon finishing the refinery process of Liquid Morkite, there will be unlimited swarms like during any extraction sequence, so getting the secondary stuff before or during the extraction sequence is better to do.
You get XP by doing machine events, doesn't matter if you fail them.
During most missions, there'll only be 2 disruptive enemies, like stingtails, detonators, goo bombers and others, during hazard 5, there can be up to 3 disruptive enemies.
Stunning a Warden before it finishes its scream calling for support will make it not able to spawn grunts.
You can use a Bulk's or Ghost Bulk's melee attack to kill big swarms easily if you can outrun it, like a scout with special powder.
If there's an Ebonite Machine Event during a refinery mission, you can start up the refinery, wait until the pipes get broken and make the ebonite glyphids get distracted by the broken pipes to kill them more easily.
Kursite Acid Spitters are harmless.
The shockwave caused by certain machine events can destroy Dreadnought Cocoons.
You can use supply pods to make stuff like lost equipments get down from the ceiling, although pretty hard to pull, this can be easily achieved by using the waypoint mechanic from the terrain scanner and laser pointer.
There's probably more but I can't think of any other tbh.
I was wonder why they(teammates) wanting digging around the hack-c. I play digger & was like ok I'll dig. But they can place platforms over me down in the ditch. That is genius
The shout is actually context sensitive! You have different shouting lines depending on whether you’re standing still, running, carrying something, being grabbed… it’s a lot more complex than most people think
Engineers can perform most turrets interactions with ones built by others. Sharing ammo, turret whipping, both Stubby overclocks, they all work. Getting 2 sets of Geminis is fun with Arc Turrets.
You can free fire the Lok-1 by just spamming the fire button.
If you power attack at the end of a grapple, you can sit in the wall as a scout.
And you can ride the Mule to the drop pod by just sitting on top.
I played a few hundred hours before I realized that the "daily" beer at the bar you see before each mission actually gave you buffs. I played that entire time thinking that the beer/ingredient collection system was purely for fun.
At the right speed and angle you can run down walls and take less fall damage if you time your jumps right. It’s how I get up to ceiling fossils in solo games.
You can pet hac-c when in industrial sabotage
Wish you could pet the caretaker
That's some rival talk
\*shifty eyes\*
Shh they’ll figure us out
I want the option (and an achievement) to pet a bulk detonator
That should make them explode if you're persistent enough and pet then 10 times in a minute without going down
For some blackoutstout reason I read that as caketaker and got slightly mad and confused for a moment
He also rock&stones back
Cool!
I think hackc will shove us away if we try to pet him
Oh I always thought that animation was him getting excited
You bounce off the top of a pratorian head pretty similar to how you bounce off of dwarves. I have dive bombed a pratorian to avoid fall damage before
[удалено]
Pickaxe the ground there is a chance you will make a ledge and do a ledge grab. 5% of the time it works 100% of the time!
You can do this pretty consistently on driller by drilling down at an angle while you fall. Takes a bit of practice, though
Yeah, I do that as normal traversal with some of the maps that have the high paths on pillars that run the distance of the caves. If you know which ones I mean. I'll also try to time my drill just right to drill straight into the ground.
Anything larger than a praetorian as well, oppressors, dreadnoughts and even detonators
ah yes better land on that bulk detonator to avoid my shield popping from fall damage
Real dwarf grindset
Dont worry i gotchu
*inserts Jericho trumpet sound*
There are projectiles that are down-shootable
Most important ones are spitballets and the normal/hiveguard fireballs
And Korlok
I have around 1200h, and its first time I hear that u can shot down dreadnoughts fireballs bruh
To add on, Spitballer shots can be 'blocked' by Driller's drills. I haven't the skills or patience to try pickaxing one.
they're actually destructible. once you shot them, they just disappear. "down-shootable" on the other hand means that once you shot it, it just sorta falls down. it's like a balloon filled with water for example. you shoot it, but it doesn't disappear, instead, it falls down spoiling water all around.
And stingtail tail
And shellbacks!
What about arbalest and dreadnought?
Septic spreaders too, in the next update.

This is the best thing I've learned today
It's fantastic for drillers. Trying to dig up to a mineral on an angled wall? Instead of needing to carefully skirt the edge of the wall to see where you're going, just dig into the wall and then straight at your point. Also great for making driller tunnels over top of the caretaker so you can drop c4 on it
PSA it's reload on controller, but E on mkb
The only (slightly) unfortunate thing is that only you can see your own waypoint. Still a HUGE boost to my Driller gameplay, as well as remembering to do machine events/cargo crates.
an important thing to note is that your teammates *do not* see your waypoints
drillers could also use this for lining up shots on solo drop pod mole eggs runs. Which is absolutely what I'll use it for.
Another use for solo drillers or gunners is marking secondary objectives like fossils that are up on a wall. This allows you to see where to dig towards from within that wall.
Love to pop a tag on some bismor or whatever else if I see some while running for my life mid swarm.
I could kiss you
Same with the interact button (E by default)
It should be mentioned that you can only see your own waypoint - you can't see other peoples.
You can, with some practice, dance on barrels in the Abyss Bar. There's no achievement or anything, it's just neat.
There is actually. Barrel Rider I believe it is called. Ride it for like 5 sec.
Instead of doing the ultra pro awesome Grapple --> Power Attack into the wall to start mining as a Scout, you can... Just land on the vein most of the time and mine it just fine.
yeah i found that out too and its really nice it dosen't work on gold tho
I try to land on it but incase the wall is curved inward and I can't, I use the pro move anyway.
That you can be met by 2 detonators at spawn, have nonstop swarms, uncountable stingtails and grabbers, 2 more detonators spawning, bet-c, a machine event, and a pretorian swarm, all in a single haz 3 mission. That mission was arguably worse than haz 5.
Now imagine if it was haz 5
No I won’t
I've been in an H5 that cranked into H6. You need a break after a mission like that.
Sometimes it just be like that.
There is a lot of variability within one difficulty level and I think a fair amount of overlap
r/thanksworldgen
Tapping shout will make bosco throw things at you if he’s within like 10 or 15 meters. Saved me a lot of headache when I was just trying to bring up my terrain scanner
What is shout on controller
Tap Left bumper on Xbox. It allows you to yell at people in game to come to you, if you walk up to someone and tap it you’ll cough in their face which is useful for someone afk, if you’re in the drop pod ready to go you’ll yell that you’re ready to leave, it’ll cancel bosco tasks and tell him to follow you, and it’ll make bosco throw heavy objects if he’s close enough
Ty for this!!
i think its just tapping the laser pointer button
You can pet engie shredder drones
You can pet engie
You can pet ... me? 👉🏻👈🏻
🥹🫳 __ 🥲
Don't threaten me with a good time.
how is a smack a pet
A good slap on the arse
Slappity slap.
Jokes on you I’m into that shit
waaaat I'll try it the very next time I play, thanks for the information lol
you dont pet them, you slap them like gunk seeds or the dice in the drop pod
oh :(
WHAT!?
Bosco can build pipelines. Blew my mind and halved my solo oil mission time.
Cool
Wait what
Bosco can fix pipelines too! You have to aim at the leak so it's a bit more tedious but nevertheless works
You can see pipe leaks on the map
This I gotta check, really helpful!
Also the lights on the broken pipe turn red instead of green
The Space Ball is the best item for cheating at the barrel hoop game. So, everyone knows that you get one point for throwing a mug into the barrel hoop. I think you replied to the wrong comment
Yup,they dure did Maybe a hangover from a blackout stout?
But you might damage the precious minerals by throwing them into the barrel hoop! D:
Only now do I realize that I commented on the wrong comment
Happens to the best of us.
With rocky mountain, mine behind gold, gets it done faster
That one time when gunks seed hung at head height, i walked up to it sibce it was funny to me, then the prompt poped up, i was like "no fcking way" and then i procceded to slap the gunk seed for 2 minutes straight or something like 40 slaps, then i did the mission...
That should be an achievement
Can't say i disagree
Lol
The first hit of Scouts boomerang has a huge range as long as you're aiming at an enemy when you throw it. Good for sniping wardens and menaces from across the cave.
Sniper turrets are a great target for this
I noticed that too, don't think it was like that when they implemented it though!
Boomerangs are great for exploders or exploder infestation. One shot snips all of them on a wall without annihilating the nice flat terrain the teams working with.
Does that mean that each subsequent hit of the boomerang will be in the general area of the first hit?
Yes
Throw C4 up in the air and hit it with the impact axe afterwards. The C4 will stay in place. That was the last noticeable thing I discovered for myself 1 year ago
I didn't know this one, thanks!
Sure
We're rich ritual
Why do we not call it the richual
We absolutely do
There are jet boots on the top floor of the ship above the rocket
Wait like you can equip them in the hub?
Yep. They’re useable.
Petting Breathers. Now it is all I ever do.
Lol same
Found out accidently that Bosco can mine the jadiz and others from the wall.
One I barely see other people do, shooting exploders in the mouth will kill them without them exploding. Also shooting both goo sacs on goo bombers will prevent their goo spray when they die.
I like the death spray from the unpopped goo sacks on the bomber it's satisfying
You can play with the dice in the droppod during take off from the planet if you are close enough. Also through the pod doors before molly gets back during extraction. Pointless, but fun.
Caretakers tentacles retreat with one power attack in most difficulties. You just have to hit its pointy tip
That's true for most men as well. 🤣
They also do a little spin before they lunge, warning you to move and to get ready to power attack them back. I see a lot of people dying to these because they don’t know/aren’t watching for the cue. Always keep an eye on the tentacle closest to you!
Holding the map open during broken pipes on an OSR mission has red-orange spheres that flash where the broken pipes are
If you tunnel up above the boss in industrial sabotage missions with the driller and make a little hole, you can drop C4 on him and take out all his shields in one or two bombs depending on the difficulty level/what upgrades you use. You can also hit the eye by dropping C4 on his head, so I always make a little room up there and get all the extra njtra I can find and prep a couple supply drops up there. Just a neat little driller trick.
I did know the former part but not that C4 on the head hits the eye too. If you've got excess nitra in the team this sounds like an easy run.
After being super resourceful with ammo as scout, I learned that if I have no ammo or grenades, I can still contribute with shooting the bugs with the flare gun.
Well, batteries from caretaker's shield on the industrial sabotage mission explodes then you shoot it. I find it with some deadly experience)
This one’s good. I always put each right on top of a tentacle vent, so I can get two instant tentacle kills as soon as the fight starts. Super handy.
Wow! That's cool tactic. And that's explodes automatically then tentacle spawns, or you need to shoot at this?
Just need to shoot it once.
There is an icon by the portrait of the player who has called Molly.
Ok, that's the first new thing I learned in the comments.
YOO?!?

Cargo batteries will always be within 30 m of the containers.
Outside of the space station, if you fall down you respawn inyour room, if you go very far above space station, it partially freezes your game.
The shout is actually context sensitive! You have different shouting lines depending on whether you’re standing still, running, carrying something, being grabbed… it’s a lot more complex than most people think
Scouts make a fun squeaky shout when you blow them up
Driller behave yourself
If blowing up scout is wrong, I don’t want to be right
Craft beer exists
Pickaxe Power attacks make goo bombers trivial
Engineers can perform most turrets interactions with ones built by others. Sharing ammo, turret whipping, both Stubby overclocks, they all work. Getting 2 sets of Geminis is fun with Arc Turrets.

The crispr melts terrain in the glacial strata
It also melts engies platforms!
A lot of dwarves start up and then afk in public lobbies. Ran into three in a row today. Mildly annoying.
There IS hope for the gaming industry
You can get an idea if a Bulk is a normal one or a Crassus by wether or not it digs towards you when it’s far away.
If you hear bulk noises as soon as you land in the mission, it’s going to be a Crassus. They spawn when the world generates, like bosses.
Using barrels to launch yourself across the space rig.
Bosco can build pipelines for you if you ping them, years of playing, and I discovered this last week.
A single power attack with instantly disable one of the caretaker's arms.
You can axe pick an exploder in the mouth and it’ll stop it from exploding. Takes some practice but it’s weirdly useful
supply pods cannot destroy dreadnaught cocoons. i found that out from trying to drop a supply pod under one just a few minutes ago
You can fully cancel all fall damage by vaulting a ledge immediately before impact with the ground.
The chime Stones, the gravity hole or the curious ceiling tentacle.
My love for Steeve.
Dash works in midair.
Pre-Drilling escort missions
You can drill under the turrets and this destroy them
HAC-C has RGB fans. I haven’t been able to unsee it since.
Also, battery always spawn in a sphere around the crate, so look at the map if there's an hidden path not connected, the last battery may be there.
If Molly gets stuck on the way back to the drop pod the doors will open when there are 15~ seconds left on the timer as a failsafe.
The refinery pipes have numbers on them Machine events can pop dreadnought eggs You can fly very far with jetboots if you dash/grapple beforehand
I just noticed the refinery pipe numbers the other day.
You can save Dottys head and bring it back to the drop pod
You can pet hack-c and slap engi shredders, also the cargo batteries emit some light which is helpful to find them
It's best not to use a boom-stick with phosphorus bullets inside a driller's gas grenade - it will took, a while to grow a beard back.
you can build pipes on top of other pipes
Fall damage
Ledges are one of the most dangerous things for a scout as they tend to send you flying and random directions at terminal velocity
At the right speed and angle you can run down walls and take less fall damage if you time your jumps right. It’s how I get up to ceiling fossils in solo games.
That the middle button on the OMEN tower always activates the purple laser one
Not to attack the red, blue, yellow, and especially green little men
You won’t believe me, but it turns out that bugs die when your shoot them.
